Logan Cooley’s cousin John Mooney will be playing for the U17’s next season and shows every indication he is going to be Logan Cooley 2.0. Gotta imagine Logan himself has to be the best recruiting tool out there.

Wow, they are like twins. Not sure if he has the same edge work that Logan has but it might be close. Very similar skating styles. Feisty too.

Anybody hearing anything on Hagens? I was thinking he might announce after the season, but he's been pretty quiet.
I would assume he'd be committed to a college by now if that is the route he's planning. Maybe college isn't in his future? It would be great to have him playing next to Eiserman here in two years. But maybe he's planning WHL or something similar.Anybody hearing anything on Hagens? I was thinking he might announce after the season, but he's been pretty quiet.

Some mentioned he may not be eligible to commit yet. I think he just finished his sophomore year, but I thought he may have been accelerating. Since he hasn’t committed yet, I would assume he hasn’t and will commit somewhere Aug 1.
Speaking of Aug 1 - Everyone keep an eye on these players who will be eligible to commit
Conrad Fondrk (White Bear)
James Hagens
Gavin Kor (Rochester)
LJ Mooney
Cullen Potter
Lukas Sawchyn (Chaska)
Sam Spehar (Chaska)
Logan Hensler (Woodbury)
Sam Laurila (Moorhead)
Garrett Lindberg (Moorhead)
Maceo Phillips (Wayzata)

Not sure it’s official but it seems William Whitelaw may not be Madison bound. If that’s the case, would be a nice option for next year. May not be much scholly left though.

Where did you get this from? Read an article from 5/23 where he’s quoted to be staying with Bucky.
I read an article (that I can’t find now) that said he could go to WI still, but also said he could do another year of juniors or seek other options. Along with changes to his social media, I’m thinking he might be back on the open market. I definitely could be wrong.
Apparently he is buddies with Charlie Stramel. Hopeuflly he is also buddies with current Gophers as he would be a good addition.I read an article (that I can’t find now) that said he could go to WI still, but also said he could do another year of juniors or seek other options. Any new info on Hagens or Mooney?
Maybe I’m being too optimistic, but I think we can land both of them.
No new info, just killing time til August 1st. But like you said we have a legitimate shot of landing both, and the way Bob is recruiting these days, I don’t know why we’d doubt him.
Mooney (Cooley’s cousin) should be a no brainer right? I don’t understand how he can watch Logan have as much success and make as many national headlines as he has and not want to come here. Plus at the very least Logan can be in his ear every now and then, that’s a recruiting advantage we have over North Dakota when it comes to Mooney? (it’s rumored to be either Minn or Nodak) Only time will tell.
Hagens main attractor is probably playing with Eiserman in college. If that happens, yikes…?
Maybe this has been brought up by someone before, as I didn't go back pages to look. But, I find it "interesting" that the GopherHockey instagram page is following a potential recruit who hasn't committed here yet. The player in question also is following the Gophers ( which is not all that strange). The GopherHockey instagram account is not following any other non committed players... The player in question... James Hagens
I'm 50% factual and 50% sarcastic. When you get to know me, you will know which is which.
Hagens and Eiserman seem to have become peanut butter and jelly at the NTDP. They click on and off the ice. Maybe Cole talked him into being a Gopher. August 1st can’t come soon enough!

At this point I don’t know how LJ Mooney doesn’t become a Gopher. NIL and Big 10 money talks, not to mention the Big 10 “experience” so to say. We definitely have that edge over North Dakota. Not to mention Logan’s probably in his ear about how fun it is to play at Minnesota. Seems like a layup for Bob and co.

I hope Bob has him on speed dial
Played with Jimmy Clark in Green Bay last year so I’m sure they got to scout him him a good bit, might be a one and done but would be a huge get especially if they don’t land Hensler

I have spoken to some people that know Hensler and it unfortunately sounds like we don't have much of a shot at him. Hopefully that changes.

Hagens has to be the #1 target for Bob right now. Mooney close second, but we have to be the frontrunners.

Add Cullen Potter to that list. Those are the 3 five star/blue chip/one and dones (whatever you wanna call it) I’m confident we can land.
Potter seems like more of a wild card despite connections to the state. August could be fun though.
Conrad Fondrk would be huge too!!

Do we think Potter and Fondrk are going to play college hockey?
Do we think Potter and Fondrk are going to play college hockey?
Valid question. Fondrk follows BU so of course that’s the rumored favorite right now. Potter I’m more confident ends up in college. Where is anyone’s guess but we’re high on the list.
Do we think Potter and Fondrk are going to play college hockey?
Fondrk’s Dad is a teacher so I assume they value education, but who knows…he’s most likely a one-n-done anyway.

At this point nearly all NTDP guys end up in college. Big change from 10 years ago.

Belarus is basically Russia, so I guess it might work?
Why did the Fondrk kid travel out of state to play bantam hockey?

It’s elite Shattuck level hockey. Not saying I support the decision but that’s the thought.

Hlinka camp roster out. No future Gophers as the only 06 commits are on the NTDP, but the uncommitted guys with MN ties include:
Caleb Heil, G, USHL Sioux Falls (Victoria)
Kam Hendrickson, G, Chanhassen HS (Scottsdale, AZ)
Hawke Huff, D, Wayzata HS (Mazama, WA)
Henry Lechner, F, Holy Angels (Bloomington)
Ryker Lee, F, Shattuck-St. Mary's (Wilmette, IL)
Ashton Schultz, F, Minnetonka HS (Victoria)
Jackson Smithknecht, D, Rogers HS (Albertville)

Anyone know the back story on either of these two?
Hawke Huff is a great name.
Looks like the families of both players have been in Minnesota for several years.
Hawke’s actual first name is Luken.
Why did the Fondrk kid travel out of state to play bantam hockey?
There is a sound and legit reason for this decision, but not one I will ever share. It’s personal and I respect the decision and the reason it was made. I will leave it at that.

I don’t care how good the Spehar kid is, it wouldn’t be worth it to have his dad around…

Is Spehar the kid who plays for a different team/organization every year?

Is Dave the meddling knucklehead type?
Unfortunately yes from what I’ve heard. I’d stead clear from this one if I were Bob. Funny enough Sam Spehar follows one team on social media. I’ll give you a hint: they’re green and punch people in handshake lines.
He’s a complete tool!
