eiserman almost ties it up with breakaway goal

Eiserman can’t not score
Eiserman is ridiculous lol

This is what I’m talking about. It’s every. Single. Game.
Do we have an Eichel type dynamo recruit on our hands?
Lol he scores every game!

Now it just feels like spam?. Maybe I shouldn’t post every Eiserman goal. Rough night for the kid only 2G 1A
Eiserman had 2 more goals and an assist against canada tonight
Ziemer with a good start to his tournament with 4 points in 4 games. A stat line that actually looks human lol. He’s also wearing a letter which is good to see.
Sums up my thoughts exactly. Everyone has a plan until Cooley and Eiserman want to be Gophers
It’ll be interesting to see how long Cooley/Eiserman stays. It wouldn’t be that shocking if Cooley left after this year but he isn’t exactly lighting the world in fire in college and got drafted by a comically inept franchise. That helps. If Bob can get two years out of those guys instead of one that’d make a huge difference over guys like Okposo leaving mid season or the one and dones.
Hopefully it helps that Cooley is playing with Knies who decided to stay on for a second year.
@chill-kessel Cooley was the 3rd overall pick in the draft. When was the last time a 3rd overall pick didn’t sign after playing one year (post draft)? It’s certainly possible he’ll stay a 2nd year…but unlikely.

Didn't one or more of those blue chip Michigan kids just stay for a 2nd year recently?

Luke Hughes came back this season. He was the 4th overall pick last season.
The other 3 (Owen Power, Matty Beniers, and Kent Johnson) turned pro
Power/Beniers/Johnson were all drafted after their freshman seasons, which is significant when analyzing the fact they played a second year in Ann Arbor.
Hughes likely the most optimistic parallel to Cooley, though I am still expecting him to be one and done.

The other 3 technically stayed for 2 years but were there for the year before the draft. So 2 years out of them isn't out of the question. It just comes down to what the big club wants and whos in their ear about what the think is best for "Their Career".

Yes it is... I did not explain that well at all. My bad on that, totally screwed that up.
All 4 players played 2 seasons of college hockey.

Wasn't trying to call you out so apologies if it came off that way. Was a unique situation in Michigan. I have some hope on Cooley; will simply be presently surprised if he returns.
It’ll all depends on how much he dominates in the second half. He’ll have his buddies from the NTDP still here in Chesley and Snuggerud if that helps.
I suspect Cooley will be gone. I was just commenting that maybe Knies talks him into another year.
I'd guess Cooley is gone as well. Of course, his rights are held by Arizona, so maybe he says "forget that, I'll play college and be a free agent to pick a real team" (NOT holding my breath, but it would be nice)
B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?
Lately the culture around the program is very light on the one and dones. I wanna pick my words carefully here but Cooley isn’t a MN kid so if he is one and done, I wouldn’t be shocked. Not saying he doesn’t get the culture of the program, but he also isn’t Faber or Snuggerud who dreamed of playing for the Gophers for their entire childhood.

I know it’s just his u17 season but Eiserman is looking like the definition of a one year player but he might get on the mural in that year.

Yeah Owen Power I believe, believe he was first overall pick too.
Personally I’d follow the path forged by Owen Power or Matty Beniers or Brock Boeser (or even Jonathan Toews) before I follow Casey Mittlestadt or Chaz Lucius. So much maturity and development happens at 18-20 especially for thinner speed guys like Cooley. I guess I’d rather develop and play top 3 minutes in college rather than play in the AHL. The other issue that can rise up with one-and-done’s is their confidence deteriorating. Just my opinion..

Cooley hasn't separated himself as an elite college hockey player. Last season, Knies was ahead of where Cooley is now. It helps that Knies has a man body, whereas Cooley, on the other hand, needs some meat on the bone.
Maybe if Cooley lights it up in the second half all of this changes, but if Knies stayed another year for his development, Cooley certainly can (and should at this point). He's on a team full of players who can all skate and shoot the puck, not to mention mobile defensemen who can lug it. That's the perfect set up for a guy with skills. He should blossom this season and really be pouring it on before anybody suggests he NHL ready.
Then again, maybe he pulls a Casey M. and goes off to struggle for a couple years before he's ready.

BINGO…hence the statement “possible, but unlikely” 1 out of 4 returned.

Knies wasn’t a 1st round draft pick & Toronto is loaded at forward. It’s good he returned, but it’s apples & oranges comparing his situation with Cooley & the Coyotes

With the exception of Boeser, all the guys you listed played one season of NCAA after being drafted.
Hell even Cale Makar stayed two years. The list of successful one and dones is very short. Kessel, Eichel made it work, but then there’s guys like Zegras who left BU after one year then had to play in the AHL for a year.

Another (not quite) apples & oranges comparison…Makar is arguably a top 5 NHL player NOW…but he’s also a Canadian who didn’t play Major Juniors & went 4th overall in a relatively weak draft year.
I'm not going to worry about if/when Cooley leaves until April. As we saw this past off season there were surprises on who stayed/left. Sit back and enjoy the ride.

Mittlestadt leaving after one year also involved a coaching change.
The point of my post isn’t to worry about their eventual outcome as much as to say that the recruiting strategy of getting these guys looks a lot better if they play two years instead of one. We’ll see if Motzko can pull that off.
Oliver Moore showing off his speed on this shorty. Also they trust him to kill penalties.

Moore also named player of the game following the 6-1 win. He had the GWG.

I'm focusing on NHL readiness here, not team situations or draft status. Cooley is lagging in that category at this point.
Nice to see Moore with an “A” on his sweater as well. He’s fun to watch. Reminds me of Sammy Walker if Sammy had the hands and decision making to keep up with his feet. Plays a 200 ft game, pp, pk. Can definitively see why some scouts are so high on him.
Whipple and Eiserman both have assists for the U-17s tonight as they lead canada 3-0 in the 2nd
Can’t watch the Wild so I flipped on USA/Canada. Eiserman somehow doesn’t have a goal yet. He’s chasing ovi’s record. Whipple is silky smooth and smart. Ziemer is gritty and is wearing an A for this USA team.
Ziemer adds a goal and the US leads with about 4 minutes left.
No goals for Eiserman but a couple assists in the 6-1 win over canada
Max Rud signed today. Usually the NTDP guys wait until after the international tournament to sign as to avoid distraction, so might be a couple more days until we see Hendrickson and Moore.
