You want a 1A/1B and a clear 3. Bringing him in will just create a situation where someone leaves.
Despite being an overager Kurth not even making the list is odd.
Also, what a name: Luca Del Bel Belluz
If Boynton doesn't get a fair shot in the next two months he's 100 percent gone. I'd say he's 90 percent gone as of now.
Then the problem they are going to have is you have Close, who was brought here to be the No. 3 goalie (and who knows, maybe he'll step up and be amazing, I hope to hell that happens), and Bartoszkiewicz, a young commit who struggled in the USHL, the presumptive top two goalies heading into next fall, which could preclude you from getting a bigger name via the transfer portal. In theory, a transfer is going to head somewhere that, on paper, they can be at least a 1A. Doesn't seem like the setup here will paint that picture for anyone if you have two guys returning who split games the second half of the previous season.
Most likely scenario for the fall at this point is probably Close, Bartoszkiewicz and a low-end transfer or someone who's aged out of juniors that's currently uncommitted. Hopefully they don't lose as much talent up front and on defense as it sure looks like they will after this season ends.
Does anyone have any idea as to what the situation is with Boynton? His numbers look pretty good from last year and people seemed pretty excited about him when he committed. I know he was sick and injured in the fall but is there more to it than that? Is there some sort of beef between Boynton and the coaching staff?

What makes Boynton 90% gone? Because he didn’t start over the Mike Richter award winner?

Maybe that he clearly sits behind Close and that they brought in Bartoszkiewicz early to make up for losing LaFontaine. He was recruited as a starter, I doubt he wants to ride pine for 4 years.

Wait did we officially bring in Bartoskziewicz??
No
Schlossman did tweet yesterday: "All signs point toward Minnesota adding Youngstown goalie Owen Bartoszkiewicz."
What a mess
Oof. Ugly situation.
Anyone know if Pinoniemi is hurt? Haven't seen him in the lineup the past few weekends. Couldn't find anything via search.
Don’t know, could be Covid.
What about Cruz Lucius?
Friendly reminder that this is tomorrow afternoon on NHL Network

I hadn’t ever heard of Grant MN before the Lucius brothers committed to the Gophers. It’s apparently a big town* nearby. And to be honest now that I know about it I still never hear or read anything about Grant.

At least Grant is a city. Apparently now we're listing lakes as hometowns (instead of Lindstrom).

Holy cow that is a terrible gif. The puck is in the net before we are 1 second into the video.

I lived in Grant for two years….with my mother in law. It was just a township back then. Other than a town hall and a ball field it’s nothing but rural north Stillwater. There’s no town. Probably more horse turds than anything out there.
I liked what I saw out of Kurth and Snuggerud (especially that shot) in the Biosteel game today. Kurth's connection with his USHL teammate, Halliday, was super evident and that line always seemed to be creating chances. For Snuggerud, I read somewhere that his skating has really improved over the last year and I definitely noticed the improvement. On the flipside, I'd say that Kurth's skating needs some work.
For defense, Chesley, Rinzel and Mittelstadt didn't really stick out to me as being good or bad. I'll probably watch it again to see if I missed anything on them but then again, you can't really base all that much off an exhibition game.
I only saw half the game so far.
I did like Mittelstadt’s game. Not flashy, but handled pressure well, made good passes, his feet looked quicker too.
Mittelstadt’s development just shot straight up this year he’s averaging about a point per game for a defenseman which is crazy.

Formerly known as davey j.
Snuggerud up to 24 on Pronman's top 32 for the 2022 draft. Chesley has fallen off the list.
You definitely want to be bringing in more risers than fallers as it's indicative of peers catching up and passing players at the time it matters: right before they get on campus.
On the flip side, Knies was a faller so you never know.
Another day, another set of mid season draft rankings. This one is from Bob McKenzie.
#18 Chesley
#19 Snuggerud
#47 Rinzel
#73 Cruz Lucius

If anyone is interested that wasn't able to catch the game:

Rinzel gets kind of caught in no man's land on Team White's 2nd goal and was -2 in the game. Also, I didn't realize Mittelstadt was out there for both the game-tying and OT winning goals for Team Blue but he wasn't really at fault for either goal.
Kurth and Mittelstadt can’t go a game without a point
Kurth with goal #20 tonight. Is tied for 2nd in goals in the USHL

Very big news coming soon. Potentially biggest coup since Kessel.

If this Goldy character does have a legit lead I wouldn't consider getting Moore a coup.
What others are saying about Moore--

Where did you get that information, because there is no mention of where the kid is from in any of his posts. All he said was "Potentially biggest coup since Kessel."

Why would getting a MN kid from the metro area be considered a "coup"?
To me a coup would mean he was heading elsewhere and he flipped.
