Kinda BS if you ask me. Michigan benefits from pairing all the Minnesota teams in one regional. It's either a national tournament or it's not.
the most happy people are any und fans who wanted to unload tickets. They’re going to be PRICY
but in all seriousness, 0% surprised. They consistently use 0 consistency to set up the bracket and it’s no exception this yeat
Fargo, North Dakota
#1 Minnesota vs. #16 Canisius
#6 St. Cloud vs. #11 Mankato
Manchester, New Hampshire
#4 Denver vs. #13 Cornell
#5 Boston University vs. #12 Western Michigan
Bridgeport, Connecticut
#2 Quinnipiac vs. #14 Merrimack
#7 Harvard vs. #9 Ohio State
Allentown, Pennsylvania
#3 Michigan vs. #15 Colgate
#8 Penn State vs. #10 Michigan Tech
#9 Ohio State and #10 Michigan Tech were swapped to avoid a #8 Penn State/#9 Ohio first round conference match up.
#14 Merrimack and #15 Colgate were swapped to avoid a #2 Quinnipiac/#15 Colgate first round conference match up.
Quinnipiac being only 25 miles from Bridgeport is why I put Michigan in Allentown, PA.
St. Cloud/Mankato could be moved to Bridgeport and replaced with Harvard/Ohio State.
There are 7 or 8 eastern teams depending on how you look at Penn State and this has them evenly disturbed to help with attendance.
The bracket came out last night in the above post. ?
I am looking forward to the Minnesota Invitational Tournament in Fargo, ND.
I am curious to see how many Sue fans show up to watch three Minnesota teams battle it out for a trip to the Frozen Four while their two favorite teams are sitting at home.
The Allentown bracket is easier than a $2 dollar whore who's down on her luck.
When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.
Let Michigan and that bum of a goalie get lulled into a false sense of power in a weak bracket and get kicked out by PSU.
AND WHO SAID THE NORTH STAR COLLEGE CUP WAS DEAD?!
People are going to call MN fans whiners, but SCSU is just as screwed having to go to the overall #1’s bracket. What’s the point of earning that #1 seed? Clearly there isn’t a point.
so dumb. Just stop sharing seedings and put all the teams closest to home inter conference matchups be damned.
In response to Allentown is soft.
It will be interesting to see how Penn State plays after having two straight bye weekends. If they play well and their crowd shows up they have the talented to make some real noise.
I am always curious to see how the ECAC does in the NCAAs. Is Colgate beating Quinnipiac and Harvard this weekend an indication of how well they are playing or that Quinnipiac and Harvard may not be as going as their rankings would indicated? Maybe some of both. Time will tell.
Although, as we all know anything can happen in a single elimination tournament so what ever happens needs to be taken with a grain a salt. If the NCAA tournament was played a second time with the same exact match ups the tournament would almost certainly have many different results.
#6 St. Cloud - RPI .5632
#7 Harvard - RPI .5615
This difference is less than a half game. If Gophers fans want to be pissed about this so be it but IMO it isn't much of a difference. If the Gophers beat Canisius it will be fun to have two Minnesota teams battling for a berth in the Frozen Four.
I am willing to bet the Gopher players want a shot to eliminate Mankato but either match up would be a fun game.
By putting Ohio State in Bridgeport there could be three Big Ten teams playing in the Frozen Four.
The interesting thing for the Gophers is the other three Big Ten teams are on the other side of the bracket so if Ohio State were to win Bridgeport they would end if facing the Allentown winner (possibly Michigan or Penn State) in the semi finals.

I agree with all of this, the St Cloud versus Harvard doesn't really bother me too much considering how close the RPI's are. I think it's the most unfair to St. Cloud out of everyone actually.

Exactly the Gophers are best team ranked number 1 in the country so other teams should be worrying about playing us not us worrying about playing them.
When do they post the dates and start times?
Agree…watching the Gophers play the Kato vs Jan Brady winner on Saturday will be compelling drama. Ya gotta win 4 no matter what…might as well WIN the battle of MN schools along the way.By putting Ohio State in Bridgeport there could be three Big Ten teams playing in the Frozen Four.

In KRACH, St CLoud it 5th and Harvard 11th. I think a majority of people think KRACH is better calculation. As we know, if a team gets a lot of wins against weak opponents, they can get in. (AZ, Penn St (early on))
But Pairwise is what we have and I don’t think that’s a bad thing either.
Obviously, if the Gophers have a bad night, they could lose to anyone that's in the tournament, but having watched at least parts of many of the conference tournament games over the past three weekends (three and four at a time, several nights), Michigan is the only team I'm truly worried about. They look like the only team with the skill and speed to keep up if the Gophers put their foot on the gas for the full game (which didn't happen last night)#6 St. Cloud - RPI .5632

B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?
Because of strength of schedule KARACH loves the Big Ten and hates the ECAC.
This is one of the reasons I will be playing special attention to how the ECAC does in the tournament.
If KRACH was used 6 of the 7 Big Ten teams would have made the tournament. Fans of the other five conferences would be bitching up a storm. That would have been fun to see. ?
Not for nothing, but the committee has always kept travel distance in mind when seeding the brackets, even at the sake of forgoing bracket integrity.

these times are why i chuckle at anyone who says they want to keep teams in certain areas for "attendance". You aren't going to find many people taking off 2 days of work to go to these games, especially with how good TV broadcasts are now. The diehard group was going to go either way.
I agree. The Gopher/Michigan game was on a much different level than the Colgate/Quinnipiac game that I watched.
Most likely St. Cloud will beat Mankato. They swept them earlier this year, but you never know.
Ask SCSU about AIC. 😉Most likely St. Cloud will beat Mankato. They swept them earlier this year, but you never know.

Haha I remember that game, I think you post the AIC gif logo back then
I did, and still am a quasi-fan, like back then. Follow 'em on Twitter and everything.

Fargo was the only one I could do, but Saturday only.
Most likely St. Cloud will beat Mankato. They swept them earlier this year, but you never know.
St Cloud is not the same team they were earlier in the year. Neither is Mankato.
Forgot Penn St existed tbh. Allentown is so week. Michigan could walk out of there with their practice players. If there’s one team to get too confident and fly too close to the sun it’s Michigan though. Tech could hot goalie them with Pietila. I have Tech beating Penn St first round.
Not impressed with St. Cloud’s path to the NCHC freeze your face off title. Won a 3 game series on the Olympic sheet (where they are much better) vs a crappy UMD team. Beat UND and CC at the X. Yawn.
On NHL ice they don’t scare me at all. I got Mankato in that one.
And, the Gophers are much better now than at the beginning of the season when they played Mankato. Somewhat better than when they played JBSU, too. Most likely St. Cloud will beat Mankato. They swept them earlier this year, but you never know.

From what I've seen, I suspect the Huskies will win on Thursday.

i mean, they had someone on the committee to "advocate" for how it's actually really tough to go to Allentown.
Tickets starting to pop up on Fargo Craigslist. Ridiculous prices, UND season ticket holders.
I could see Ohio State making it out of their region honestly. They’re my 3rd pick to make it out of Bridgeport but still I could see it happening.
I will be surprised if Cloud wins that gameMost likely St. Cloud will beat Mankato. They swept them earlier this year, but you never know.
I think we all need to hope Colgate is the FDU of hockey! Bust the bracket!
Note: Due to inflation dirty deeds will no longer be done dirt cheap.

I'd rather see Mich for the title and crush them when it's all on the line. But if Cornell wants to take out Denver, yeah I'm all over that one haha
I don't have any complaints about our regional. The 2nd round game is going to be tough no matter what, because of the parity in college hockey.
Our reward for the #1 seed is the easiest 1st round matchup. Then it'll be 1 tough game to make it to Tampa. I'll take that draw every time.
Most likely St. Cloud will beat Mankato. They swept them earlier this year, but you never know.
St Cloud is not the same team they were earlier in the year. Neither is Mankato.
True most of them are 23 now.
Seriously they are both great teams. This is the toughest section IMHO
At the start of the season most people predicted these 3 MN teams to make it to the Frozen 4. It will be fun to watch!

In my discussions today with the great hockey minds of Mankato I've taken to this outlook on the regional.
I'm not going to look past any game in this region because anything can happen. About the only guarantee "supposedly" is the #1 seed gets the "easiest" game of the tourney, but talk to tBob about how that works in the NCAA playoffs.
I am the official Iowa Hawkeye football fan of GPL!
How well do people think a regional at Mullett would sell?
I agree that it is a tough regional, but I think the Denver regional in Manchester has the potential to be a bigger Meat grinder. If I were to rank them all by level of difficulty, it would be:Most likely St. Cloud will beat Mankato. They swept them earlier this year, but you never know.

Exactly. "Easiest" does not equal guaranteed W. It's just mathematically the best possible matchup. Gotta play the game.
