13 forwards because one guy might not be 100% (Huglen), plus your 7th+8th D options aren't great so it's an okay tradeoff
Give Pitlick-Moore-Snuggerud at least one more weekend to see if they click. If they don't you have some hard decisions to make but Moore may need to move to a wing. And then move someone like Kurth or Brodzinski down to 4th line wing and Clark is 3C. Obviously Kurth most likely because Brodzinski never gets put down there for any serious amount of time.
Moore to wing happened one weekend sooner than I expected but makes a ton of sense.
Nevers being the wing down to 4th line, again no qualms about that.
PP is brutal. Learn to pass crisply and one touch passes like the Michigan PP. And what happened to the one timers from last year?
PITLICK!!!!!!
Pitlick Lamb and Clark are turning into the big guns
Let’s hope that gets Pitlick going
Notre Damn looks quite a bit faster than the gophers.
Looked like ND played that puck with a high stick before breaking out for the goal.
thought so tooLooked like ND played that puck with a high stick before breaking out for the goal.
I’ve missed the 1st period. How have they looked?
Chesley and Thomas is a train wreck duo
This D unit with 5 D of which none are Koster is a problem.
Might be back
Crap, Koster to the locker room….
That’s seems like it should be more than just a 2 minute penalty
Quick whistles tonight.
Mastrodomenico with the dive
SNUGGY on the Power Play!!! 2-2
Wow Snuggy! Very Sneaky!!!
Shots in the second period Gophers 17 Notre Dame 4. Shots for the game 27-11
If the Gophers score in the third I predict it comes from the other Jimmy
Bischel trying to steal one. Need to keep up the momentum coming out in the 3rd. If they get the next one, have to love their chances. Longer this stays tied the more worrisome it gets. Gophers look like they've got their legs going. Just finish this one!
I felt like the Gophs were playing pretty good the second half of the 2nd period. I hope they can carry that play over to the third. Also they need to not put themselves into a position to draw a penalty, refs always seem to try to even out penalty’s and we have the advantage tonight.
The 1st ND goal was definitely played with a high stick. Should have never happened.
Having said that, Pino shouldn't be on the ice - there has to be a better option. Chesley looks lost too much of the time. I can't believe Fish is a better option than Rud at this point. It's not like Rud could play worse than either 26 or 71.
And this is not your standard ND team. Lots more speed; more offensively driven and still backstopped by one of the best goalies in the NCAA over the last few years. The BIG is going to be a meat-grinder this year.
I'm on the fence with the high stick. I think the ref thought it was close enough to think "let them play..."
When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.
Feels like the key to our season is keeping the top 4 D healthy

To even make the tournament, ya.
Gruba has 1+1 tonight. It would not be out of the question for him be a top 4 D on this roster by the end of the year. Just nothing back there.
What a time for B1G+ to have technical difficulties.

unbelievalbe the garbage the big ten puts out for hockey
Gophers dropped 15 points last year.
They've dropped 11 through five games. Conference title is not going to happen.
This might be a bubble team. So now the focus is trying to make the tournament with an at large and not stressing about the conference tourney.
Can't even keep the puck in the O zone for more than a second or 2 with an extra man. Very unimpressive game for the Gophers!
@gophers2023 Oh well, I guess the season is over. Do us all a favor and quit watching. Maybe you could be a fan of Boston or Michigan.
y’all need to calm down with the posts and the responses.
We haven’t started well but honestly, lose them now and build to something bigger. The horses are there if they play together and the depth scoring starts actually going in sync. This team deserved better tonight and last year Cooley, Knies, Lacombe, etc found ways to steal these ones when down late. They don’t have those enormous guns this year and need to navigate figuring out how they come back. Be patient
How in the world is Pino playing over Strobel?
What am I missing here? It is a total detriment to the 4th line and the team in general.
ND capitalized on our mistakes and when they clamp down on defense they are hard to score on. Need to get the lead and keep the foot on the gas. ND’s overall team speed is impressive. Gophers aren’t quite clicking right now, playing very inconsistently. They are a good team, just taking longer to gel than I had thought. This is definitely not a throw away season, they have the talent to achieve great things. Thats just my 2 cents.
We’ve seen this from Notre Dame for years. When Jackson has a team that can execute his system they are tough to beat, when he doesn’t they are easily beatable. We’ve even seen them dominate us early in the season and then not even make the tournament. He doesn’t tailor his system to the team he has so it’s feast or famine.
We have a lot of season to go but this year figuring out the D will be tBobs big challenge. He seemed to be trying a lot of different pairings tonight so we’ll see how that all shakes out.
Our forecheck is to get the puck back up to the point for a shot through traffic. That’s a low percentage play against a normal team. ND blocked more shots up high tonight than I’ve ever seen. Need to force the action down low.

ND did a good job the last half of the game of limiting us to one shot and then efficiently getting the puck out of their zone with possession.
