I figured I would just bunch these 2 games together and we can discuss them here instead of the season thread. I'm sure all hands on deck for these games, and how will Bob handle the goalies. Does he have Barto and Close split some each game or does he throw in Wiese for a period? Just stay healthy is the key.

We’re looking forward to Thursday and the hockey game, then using hubbys PubPass one last time this year at Surlys. Santa already delivered a 2023 PubPass so he must have been good??

- Nice warm up games for when they play St. Cloud. The Gophers are plenty deep on defense. They shouldn't miss a beat there. It will be nice to get a few players some playing time. The Gophers will play great and win them both. Go Gophers!

Wonder if Musser will get the start in his home state, and if Bob will try to get him to commit. I know there has been speculation that Musser is going to play in the OHL(Portland has his rights), but would love to add him to the goalie rotation.

From watching it on B1G+ it actually looked like a halfway decent crowd considering the circumstances. I thought it was going to be even more sparse than that. Good to see the fans get out there and cheer on the boys. Would have loved to have been there myself.

Four hockey players from MN, now elsewhere, sat behind us. They were hilarious in their gossip.
1) Huglen is married! Did people know that? He’s apparently an uber Christian and I guess getting married was the only way to get some. They commented he doesn’t party and is not close to the rest of the team.
2) One of them went to school with Strobel. He is, oh how do I put this delicately, “Big Man” in the locker room. ?
Sometimes I could hardly pay attention to the game!
Huglen got married this summer. His family is really nice and friendly as my wife and I talked to them at the FF and at the hotel last spring.

A former Gopher goalie and two of his buddies sat behind my wife and I at last year's Friday night of State Hockey Tourney. Overhearing their stories was hilarious. From their high school days to his time at the "U". Their language was a bit much. Couldn't compete a sentence without dropping the f-bomb. Didn't talk to the former Gopher goalie, though one of his buddies struck up a conversation with during one of the intermissions.

I would assume that they also get into the lower half of their lineups to give those players a chance to play. I think it's great that team USA can play this high quality competition. It definitely makes them better.
No college coach is going to tell his team to rub out the red, white and blue. The players want to win, but that's not the purpose of these games.
There's a lot of skill on that team.

Really solid and surprisingly sharp game for the team in general although there were stretches where they tried to be too pretty which is to be expected in a USA exhibition game.

We haven’t been up there since I’m not sure when (I think when we won the last McNaughton in the old wcha?? which was 2013) so I’m sure they are excited to have us come to town, especially with them being all high after sweeping the purple cows. bet it is sold out. Nothing on StubHub either.

They do play in the USHL. All season. Also, although they might not be playing a tight checking game like they would in a conference game, the teams USA is playing are still trying out there let’s not down play that. I think it’s a wonderful bonus to have NTDP kids come into Dinkytown with 24 games of college experience under their belt.
We had groups go to Bemidji the last year of the WCHA and the first year of the B1G.
Not surprised that it sold out. I almost waited too long, but when I grabbed mine yesterday, there were only a couple dozen scattered seats left.

No, we weren't. I had to work and when I did hear about that they were doing 'skate' it was a little too late. My wife was asking me about it last night and if they would do it again this season. I told her I doubt it. We have tickets for the Saturday game vs. Mich. State with the kids. They are ready to go now!!!

I'm a little surprised that it's sold out. Being it's an exhibition game and on New Year's Eve. Been in Bemidji for the Gophers in their old arena and the new. I know the old arena back in the early 2000s was sold out. Don't remember how the games in the current arena were. I know full, but sold out?

So their capacity is 4,500 for hockey. For the UND game they had 3,700 and now they're sold out for the gopher exhibition.Just talked with the ticket office and they are sold out.
