Their inability to maintain possession is astounding.
End of 4, tied at 1.

Welp, we’ve seen this movie before.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Their inability to maintain possession is astounding.
Their choice to go 1v3 numerous times was… questionable
Pino going first. Ok
Hell of a move 13 ?
Game over, 1-1 OTT. OSU wins the shootout.

They don't have one player that can make a move on a SO?
Truly puzzling how a team with so much skill is so god awful at shootouts.
IALTO
How many years has it been since our last shootout goal?
Thats what I thought when I saw him out to start the SO as well.
Shoutouts don’t matter. I have made that clear.
That being said, how do you think Snuggy feels sitting on the bench while Pino goes in the shootout? What a total slap in the face.
I know Pino/Bob is going to get lit up for being in the shootout, but how many other Gophers have scored in the shootout? It's not like he replaced someone who is Oshie like.
I'm 50% factual and 50% sarcastic. When you get to know me, you will know which is which.
No one stepped on the puck or fell in the SO so that's something.

but he’s great in practice! You mean the place where there’s no pressure and you’re just fucking around.
Lots of guys are great practice players. Give me the guy who wants the pressure on him and excels there

I'm sure he will be ok if he is a team player.

It certainly doesn’t help that Close is an awful SO goaltender.
Bob confirmed on postgame that Moore and Huglen were banged up during the game.

Did you hear the SO stat mentioned during the game - something like 4 of 20? How many of those were by Pino?
Coach said multiple times he liked the way they played. People wanted them to play better defensively and they definitely did tonight.
So 13 is one of their 3 best players in the SO? Better than Snuggs? Huglen? Lamb? Moore?
That whole OT and SO was a disaster. We may complain about the format but it counts for a point and we need all we can get.
When Jess asks about using Pino in the SO is tBob gonna get all grumpy about it?
Not understanding Bob in the shootouts ...
Snuggy, Moore, Ptlick
It certainly doesn’t help that Close is an awful SO goaltender.
Because he gets so much goal support???
maybe he shuts down our guys in practice???
Every shoot out this season they have tried different guys nothing has worked. Snuggy has a had multiple chances this season and will likely get more chances if they have future shoot outs. When something isn't working and coaches doesn't change it up people complain and when he does change it up people complain. Coach isn't the one who is taking the failed shots. #WelcomeToBeingACoach

If I was Closer I would beat our guy to the puck and steal an attempt while yelling if you guys aren't going to score I will take one after all I can't do any worse. ?
There is no rule that the Gophers are not allowed to win it in regulation or OT. All of the big guns were out there in OT, so they had their chance then. If only one of the Farm Kids post shots would have gone in.

I'm more concerned MN has been in so many shootouts so far this season and not with who is flailing away at them.
Good time for a break, MN seems tight and maybe overthinking the game.

The lack of shoot out success is certainly REALLY frustrating and hurting us in the Big Ten standings but it has no impact on our ability to make the NCAA tournament or advance in the NCAA tournament.
6-2-4 over the last 12 games.
Every team the Gophers have played this season is currently in the top half of Pairwise/RPI.
24 should start aiming at iron, it might help him hit twine. ?

Suffice to say we were greatly spoiled last year... Time to come back to reality.
All I can think is that this whole season I have felt like I did in the last 25 minutes of the Quinnipiac game--some sort of doomed inevitability... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I was at the Minnesota Adult & Teen Challenge Christmas concert and CHN had them winning in a SO. It was only on our slow commute from EP to home I found out they actually lost.
Keep your stick on the ice...
I had the game spoiled for me so I didn’t watch, but the choices in the shootout by the coaching staff (Thomas, Pino) this year have been pretty funny. I get that those guys probably do well in practice but we all know Close isn’t great in shootouts so… maybe don’t make decisions based on that. They don't have one player that can make a move on a SO?
As for the rest of the game I can only imagine what a 1-1 game vs OSU looked like. Kinda glad I had it spoiled and don’t have to watch.
It certainly doesn’t help that Close is an awful SO goaltender.Yeah… I say this as someone who also has the same issue historically and can relate but it’s true.
Agreed. The real problem being that with as much talent as the Gophers have, we can't score in the SO, and keep dropping Close into them anyway, rather than scoring more than 1 goal against the last-place team.It certainly doesn’t help that Close is an awful SO goaltender.

Close is a positional goalie while athletic goalies seems to do better in SO situations
B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?
Snuggy, Kurth, and Clark all skated the puck into a 1 on 2 in OT...all three were give aways. Can't have that. They know better but can't seem to help themselves.
The good news for Gophers' fans is that if Snuggy keeps this up, he'll be playing at Mariucci next year. He's an elite shooter, which makes him dangerous, but there's a lot to his game that needs work. I will add that I was hoping Moore would be further along at this point in the season.
Bob is cautious with his comments about this team, but aside from one or two games, they make a lot of enforced errors and have yet to distinguish themselves in league play.
I'm glad the break is coming up. I need it as much as they do. ?

It was actually a very good game, both teams played decently defensively and had a lot of bad luck offensively, surprised it was 1-1 after 4.
I can not stand basketball man
They should give each team 100 points & play only the last minute of the game. ?
They’re 0/11 in goal attempts in the shootout this year. I don’t really care who they parade out there. No one is good.
They’ve only won 2 shootouts total. This isn’t a 2023-24 problem.
I don't remember who took part in the shootout vs Duluth (which really didn't count), so these are from the B1G this year.
Snuggy 0-2
Pitlick 0-2
Brodz 0-2
Nevers 0-1
Pino 0-1
Thomas 0-1
Last year the only shootout I could find was against Notre Dame.
Pitlick, Nevers and Brodz 0-3

Somewhere I read the last one to score a shootout goal was Brannon McManus. If that tells you how long it’s been. ?
I think last year snuggy had a penalty shot which he didn't score as well.
But Pino!!!

This is correct.
