Wally and Frank please!!?
Yeahhhh... Frank on FSN/Successor? Good luck with that one.
B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?
Any idea why he’s not returning? His decision or Bally’s? Sorry to see him go. I always thought he did a really solid job. Also, once Gigi got comfortable on tv with some experience under her belt I thought they worked really well together. Hopefully whoever’s next can continue to build upon what Charlie started.

I just know that it was his decision to not come back. He's getting out of broadcasting.

What I really liked about Charlie is that he wasn't gimmicky. Was an easy listen and had to put up with Clymer, which will gain him extra points when he gets called to the pearly gates. I would prefer an up and comer that could be with the Gophers for years to come. Unfortunately, with BSN only getting around 50% of the games and the BTN getting the rest, finding someone who is willing to only get part time makes it tougher to find the perfect fit.

Bally/Sinclair is really in flux right now. I would not doubt if games move away from here in the not too distant future. I cannot get Bally on my TV platform. (YouTubeTV) So I personally would not have an issue with more game being on BTN+. The $5 or $6 a month for all hockey would be a bargain.

Bally is one of the few reasons I’ve stuck with Comcast but if that changes then I might switch. We got fiber internet in our area so I won’t need their internet for much longer.
They better not get Lapanta back
on Gopher broadcasting
Aloha!
Bring back Frank ?

Hopefully Clay Matvick
That would be great!

Clay was offered the job a while back and didn't want it... But seeing that there are less than half of the games on the network these days, maybe he would consider it??? He does a ton of ESPN work, so I would not hold your breath.

Little feature on Barto
Thinking he’ll get a Lindenwood game for sure but after that I dunno. Straight to the woodshed with Mankato and Nodak.
Reminder that Wednesday is the day to buy single game tickets before it’s open to the general public. Let’s buy up those tickets for the North Dakota series asap so we don’t have a repeat of thanksgiving 2019.
So the boys should be on campus and practicing right?

Traditionally Bob has let them be students the first week of the school year and then they'll hit the ice next week.
Way too many seats left for the nodak games. Buy tickets STH! I just got four for some friends! Keep the green pukes out!
Just bought three tickets for the Saturday game against North Dakota! Let’s pack Mariucci with maroon and gold!!
A little Gophers Hockey talk by Russo and Loucks at 1 hr 8 min
I disagree with Dylan takes a little bit here and there, but interesting to hear some hockey talk with the team taking the ice next Tuesday for their first full team skate.
My take on Faber's offensive potential -- I think he's basically a Brodin type clone that has untapped offensive skill, but just doesn't see those opportunities on the ice. The one thing about Faber is that I think he projects to be a heavier player than his listed size.
My take on Walker's game -- I feel like I've laid down some pretty strong critiques about who Walker is on the ice. He's fast. He's a great penalty killer. Good on the rush and in transition. He's not a playmaker... those accurate passes are likely easy passes to Blake McLaughlin. He's not a tough center for faceoffs... he got protected on draws, rarely took the first draw of any special teams opportunity. I think Walker is in for a shock at the pro level, but no risk signing for the Iowa Wild.
I'm always intrigued by the analytics -- I wonder what Walker's pp analytics say about his game.

They just posted a practice video to instagram and Cooley is in it so I'm pretty sure they are skating.
Yep. First practice was today? And if any shadow of a doubt remained I saw Johnson on the ice in that video so that solves that debate.

Listening to it now. I think it’s impossible to not like Matthew Knies. Fun interview to listen to and you can tell how much he loves playing for Minnesota and how badly he wants to win this year. The guy is only a sophomore and he’s talking about how he wants to help the freshman and help lead in any way he can. We are truly lucky to have this kid on our team.
Listened to it this morning. So many storylines in the ASU series it’s hard not to get exited for it. I’ll be there!!
-Knies and Doan head to head in hometown (childhood buddies and Doan is a yotes pick)
-Cooley yotes draft pick in yotes home rink
Kinda expect it to be a 50% split crowd. Gophs fans should travel well for that series!
It was interesting on his take on Sammy Walker. Had nothing but great things to say about him and was one of his best friends. I chuckled when he said Mn should have something like the Beanpot with the Mn schools. Great interview.

Lol college, good times.
The Cruikshank nose bit alone got me excited for the SCSU series, poor guy??

With tickets clocking in at $50 - $75 for each game, I wouldn't be surprised to see a couple hundred hearty MN souls to be there, but not much more.

I don't think anyone who's planning to go out there is going to not go because of the ticket price when you spend hundreds to get there.

Agreed. Tickets selling out is a much more likely reason. (Not sure, have they even gone on sale yet? I looked, but didn't see anything for sale at all right now)

I think you are in for a rude awakening if you think 50% of the crowd is going to be Gopher fans. I hope you are right but as a fan who travels to away games there is never 50% Gopher fans at an away arena.
I'm a bit of a Hockey Snob. I usually attend premium games and sit between the blue lines. Unfortunately, those locations sell well which gives me the choice of paying ridiculous prices for my preferred locations or sit behind Justen Close at reasonable prices? I already have my at St Cloud and Arizona State tickets. I will probably wait for the TV schedule to be released and attend home games not on BTN or Ballys.
Some early line combos for everyone from today's skate so everyone can overreact. I wouldn't put a ton of stock into this as Motzko said today that he is keeping things pretty simple by running drills that the returning guys know already so they can keep practice moving at a good pace.
"You're trying to get in shape, you're trying to put fundamentals in, trying to get systems in and trying to develop skill... you try to put a lot in, in a short amout of time and I have learned not to rush it. We won't get everything in by October 1, but we'll be close and by the end of October, I hope thinks are looking good for us."
Knies - Mittelstadt - Brodzinski
Pitlick - Huglen - Schmidt (camo practice jersey line)
Strobel - Nelson - Lamb
Snuggerud - Cooley - Nevers
Fish - Pinoniemi - Kurth
I'm not 100% sure of the wings for every group, but I think I got the centers right. The only numbers are on the back of the helmets and damn they're small and blocky.
I think the biggest system takeaway I got from the drills run today was a big emphasis on being on the right side of the puck and supporting the puck in small areas.
Interesting that Fish was playing up with the forwards. Or was that just to make sure that all of the lines were complete?
A couple of tidbits from Bob's media availability today. Duluth will be on the schedule next year as well as St Thomas. You can watch the entire scrum including Vegoe's questions on the Rink Live's Facebook page.

The difference is that there is a lot of snowbirds and Gopher fans in Arizona. If any road game could do it ASU could do it. (I would still bet against it though)

One of the reasons why a couple years ago the Wild and Vikings played in Arizona on the same weekend.
Keep your stick on the ice...

I agree there is a lot of snowbirds in Arizona. I just don't think the arena at ASU is going to consist of 50% Gopher fans as the poster said. There is a lot of Minnesota transplants in the Denver area and when the Gophers played in Denver or CC the arena consisted of maybe 10% Gopher fans. I have never seen an away arena 50% Gopher Fans and I have been going to 90% of the away games for the past 25 years.
@steve-mn Tickets are on sale. At least they were yesterday on the ASU website.
I think the 50% remark was a bit more facetious than literal. Meaning get as many Gophers fans there as possible and make some noise!

Thanks. I dug in again and was able to pull them up. Hmmm... to go, or not to go...

Put #17 and #26 together on the same line.
They go together like Lamb and tuna Fish
@joegopher I just bought some for both nights. There are not many tickets left and the cheapest ones I found were $65 each.
