Now for goodness sakes lock it down. 6 minutes from a sweep.
Great set up by Jimmy and Rinzel! Ziemer knows how to score.
def should be 5 there
edit: yeah idk about that as a 2. dangerous distance, directly into the back and he extends
Koster 5-3, ENG.

Game over, Gophs win 5-3.

Sweeeeeep!!
Brilliant move by Bob in starting Airey. #B1G coach of the year
I'm 50% factual and 50% sarcastic. When you get to know me, you will know which is which.
Notre Dame is bad but happy to not see them for a long while. Janicke can take a long walk off a short pier.
All eyes on Lamb. Thrilled if we could see him for Michigan/Michigan State at end of first half but at this point would consider a post-Christmas return great news.
tic tac toe and its in the net. what a passing play from snuggy to get it started and rinzel to find zeimer
That was fantastic.

Bob said postgame that it was part hunch and part wanting to see how Airey responded to back to back games. He said Souliere will most likely be back in there next weekend.
He also said that Wood was sick and gutted it out.

The Gophers have played three road series and swept all three.
The Gophers are 12-2 and have only played 4 of their first 14 games at home (2 or 3 neutral site games depending on how you classify the St. Thomas home game that was played at the Xcel). I can't think of another season were we've played this many games away from home to start the season.
6-0 in the Big Ten
To be playing this well with so many injuries.
Tonight the shots on goal were Gophers 39-23
Attempted shots were Gophers 74-46

racking up road wins always good for the RPI and that is how the Xcel game will be seen so I'll see it that way as well
Coach mentioned that Airey is a bigger goalie and at some point you can't keep rotating your goalies.
As @frozen4champs mentioned coach said Souliere will likely play next week.
Reading between the lines I think coach wants Airey to be the number one goalie aka he thinks Airey gives them the better chance to reach their ultimate goals.
Moore has at least one point in 4 straight games (3 goals and 3 assists).

Good cause he looked sick. He could barely keep up with play.
One reason why Minnesota hockey talent should not go to a school like Notre Dame is that hockey is just a minor sport. During one of the intermissions they ran a segment on "The Four Horsemen" of Notre Dame.
100th anniversary, and kind of a big deal.
When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.
My favorite part of the broadcast (other than the win) was the announcers celebrating the sell out crowd... 🤣 🤣 🤣
Actual question: do college hockey announcers get a pronunciation guide for players, or are they trained to just take random stabs in the dark at names?
That game went sideways for about 20 minutes but credit Minnesota pressing for that 4th goal.
They might want to spend some time on the penalty kill in practice this week.
They should get a pronunciation guide. At least, that is what I hear.

Usually part of the line chart published by the team. See this example from Notre Dame and MN does something similar.

The arena was decidedly not full either night. But they announced sellouts both nights. We are great at selling out opposing arenas. 😂
My favorite mispronunciation so far this season was in Vegas, the announcer kept saying Ryan “Cheesely”.
Solid effort by the team this weekend to get the sweep, especially after Saturday’s game last weekend. 6 pts in tow - go gophs!
Yeah solid performance all around, that breakaway save by Airey was huge. Notre Dame might want to learn to stay out of the box because the gopher PP was cooking all weeknd. Glad to see Moore get some goals this weekend all on tips in front of I remember correctly. Curious on Lamb’s prognosis.
It was one of those games that was satisfactory for late November. Stuff that needs work, but enjoy the 6 points on the ride home and worry about cleaning things up on Monday.
I honestly think Souliere has been the better of the two goalies, but I can't fault tBob for wanting to give Airey the first shot at a full weekend, especially when he has eligibility left after this season.

One word to best describe Airey so far is “adequate”. He hasn’t excelled but he’s new to college puck so I’ll give him time to grow. He gives his team a chance to win every night which I guess is all you can ask for. I would like if he bumped that .902 to a .910 by Christmas break though.
As for skipping Souliere this weekend, I don’t really get it. Seems a little early to abandon the rotation, and if you were to pick a guy, wouldn’t it be the guy rocking a .940? Whatever, two wins is two wins and Airey can’t lose a game if he tried!
@maroon_and_gold I think it’s that Bob knows what he’s got in souliere. He’s played a heavy workload before and been a full time starter, played on the road, etc. Think if you go away from Airey now, you’re probably feeling less great about him getting back in there vs Souliere knows what he came in for and is more the known commodity
The season may ride on lamb's knee. Looks like he was able to get his foot off the ice pretty early avoiding a lot of hyperextension but the concern would still be ACL/meniscus. An MRI will tell all, my initial guess is he avoided a season ending injury but could be wrong.

Kind of a weird take...don't go to a school because they honor the anniversary of one of the most historic teams in a much bigger sport...
Notre Dame is only Notre Dame in part because of that team. Hell the hockey team likely didn't exist if Notre Dame football wasn't built in the back of teams like that.
@gophers_ingf Not arguing that Lamb is an integral part of the success of the team because he is. I would hesitate to say the season rides on his knee. This team has the depth, barring any further disasters of course, to keep things rolling and find ways to win. We have had the luxury of rolling lines which might have to be adjusted a little if he is out a long time or anyone else goes down but I think we will be OK. Hopefully he is back when we play the toughest part of our schedule and we don't have to find out!
@mg-since-forever having a pitlick around wouldn't hurt. Glad to see he is doing well for Mankato

It is easy to say what if-- If we play that game, Cooley and Knies could still be on this team, but they are not. Pitlick made his decision. If he really wanted to stay, he could have. Many players have looked around for a pro deal and returned. Best of luck Rhett, and I know that the depth on this team would be better with him, but I like the chemistry on this years team without him.

They can survive losing Pahlsson for half of a season, but they went to Notre Dame with a practice player on the ice. Lamb must feel awful because he was on a meteoric rise. No, the season doesn't depend on Lamb, but the road gets harder without him.
It's not that Michel will determine the fate of the Gophers without Lamb. It's more that Lamb's contribution won't be there--that will diminish their chances.
I don’t think there is any evidence to say that Lamb won’t be back soon. I am hopeful he is fine.
My general rule about the pairwise is just win and everything will take care of itself. Win the B1G or the B1G tourney and the seeding will be fine.

I mean that knee to knee hit is pretty good evidence 😬
Think of reviewing with referees on what to look for.
Example A of that sort of hit, but worse.

Peacock blacks out the screen if you try to take a screenshot, so can't even manage that.
But, as Rube said, it's pretty much textbook kneeing. Lamb was about to skate around him, Janicke shifted in the direction and stuck his leg out very intentionally. That would get you multiple games in the NHL.
B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?
Notre Dame leads BIG10 in Penalty minutes and is the team that knocked out recruit Mooney back in early October.
@handyman The hockey players are after thoughts there at best.
I highly doubt that...you really think they don't get treated like every athlete does walking around that campus?
Football rules the roost at every Power 5 school. Every AD cares about it more than hockey. Especially Big Ten (or adjacent) schools.
