I think we can all agree the big ten cares about nothing more than making money, that’s the only thing that goes into their decisions. They don’t care about the fans, the students, the smaller schools, or certain sports. We had to form a big ten hockey conference but they don’t care to broadcast half the games on tv because it’s not financially beneficial for them. College athletics is pretty much just a business now.

Well technically we did score first. 🤣
Yes St. Thomas scored first in both games but we were leading after the first period in both games (3-1 on Friday and 2-1 on Saturday).
Last Friday against Penn State we were trailing after the 1st period (the only tie this season we have been trailing after the first period) but the game was tied a minute and half into the second period.
I agree it would be nice to score first but I am OK with not scoring first if we score a bunch after that.

Not to start a debate but why shouldn't the Big Ten show what more people want to see? If other sports are getting more viewers then hockey why should hockey get special treatment? Yes we want hockey (myself included) but if others want others things and there is more of them than there are us doesn't it make sense the Big Ten is going to go that direction?

It will be interesting to see if he gets much ice time on D. I suspect the Badgers will play the D men they do have extra minutes and he will get a close view of it from the bench.
With the Badger short on D I am cool with the Gophers playing a simpler game. Get the puck low and forecheck their D into submission. Which tends to pay the most dividends in the 3rd period and the second game of the series.

I would like to know how the gophers stand on the breakaway +/- over the last 10 years or so... Seems like we never score on breakaways and the other team doesn't have that problem

The play overall has been even. The Badgers were the better team in the first period. The Gophers have been the better team in the second period.
The score is 2-1 right now because the Badgers are 1 for 2 on the power play and the Gophers are 0 for 3 on the power play. Although I suppose you could say the Badgers are a net 0 for 2 since the Gopher goal was short handed.
Even the Badger announcers don’t understand how Wood got a penalty there….
