Sorry...but not sorry. This is always in my head when ever I hear this song. Simple pleasure...Pauly Shore movies from the early 90's.
Don't be sorry. That's one of my wife's favorite movies.
John King is like a guy that was a bro and lost the bro but still is a bro. I don't know if that makes any sense but I like his content and the Gophers have as many quality people writing about them as probably any in my nearly 50 years of watching.
SKI-U-MAH
After next year you would lose the fifth year guys, Cooley, Snuggy, possible Moore? Yikes.
The Gophers will be fine in 2024. Loaded recruiting class, and I think you are underestimating Lamb, Kurth, Luke M, Chesley, Thomas, etc. Those are very talented players.
I am still very very bummed about Saturday, but there is no doubt Bob has this thing rolling.
You are right those guys don't get the attention they should. It will be nice to see those guys turn into the veteran leadership guys that we have in Nelson, Brodz, Faber especially with the examples they are setting. The ground work has been laid with the last few years of veterans we just can't have it get derailed like it did for a decade or so in the late Lucia years.
If Bob/the veterans can get the high end talent to stick around for 2 years and the veteran leadership principles can be passed on through the 3 - 4 year solid talent this program is cooking with fire!
In the ashes of my bitter heart-wrenching disappointment from Saturday, a glimmer of hope is starting to blossom.
If Cooley comes back, we'll be in as good a place next year as we were this year. Do it, Cooley! One more year with Snuggerud!
Really enjoyed this article. Nice job "Kinger".

My favorite sentence from the article..
the Big Ten has been great for college hockey, it just ruined college hockey for a few thousand Minnesotans who can’t seem to get over their ex-girlfriend.
Tact is the ability to step on a man's toes without messing up the shine on his shoes - Harry S Truman
My sources.... don't know what Gopher hockey is...
I’d expect Moore to be a dominant 2 year guy cause he’s a Minnesotan plus he’ll have Eiserman coming in and who wouldn’t wanna stay for that

Tbh we’ll be in a good spot either way. But obviously him returning would be HUGE.
Somewhere out there there’s an alternate universe where Knies, Cooley and Snuggerud all stay long enough to play with Moore and Eiserman and all those guys
If Close does come back I'd still like to see Bob give Barto a bit more action if he thinks he's up to it. Otherwise I worry he is definitely into the portal and then you have a situation where either you are portal hunting in 24 or hope Airey as a true freshman can make a major impact.
If Close comes back I bet Bartoskziewicz hits the portal within the week
If that much high end talent was on one team, we may be selling our tickets to NHL coaches/GMs.
Dare I even ask....who would be on the second line?
@goldygopher81 Things can change such as stepped up offers from the NHL for Jaxon but I think he would be the biggest retention with Close being 1b. IF we keep Close and return the 2nd line next season we are in a much better competitive situation than we were a day ago.
Improved scoring is such a function of power play unit time, but I think the 2nd line trio of Nevers-Nelson-Brodzinski could step up their offensive production by 10-15% just based on one more year of experience. Plus it returns out top penalty kill forward pairing although I think Motzko needs to really spread out some of the penalty kill duties to get other forwards experience.

to me that was something massively underrated about Knies. The guy was an animal on the kill and especially forechecking the kill. Would hope with guys like Snuggy and/or Cooley they get the desire to add that defensive dimension to be better 200ft players as they could be deadly killing
@upnorthkid agreed about Knies on the PK. I generally like to see speed out there on the PK, so I was hopeful that 77 would turn into a penalty killer, but I take it the coaches don't trust him in that role. If Cooley comes back I would like to see him embrace that aspect of the game as well, he could be a real threat to create shorthanded chances.
Just now seeing that Geno Pichora and Logan Cooley were childhood buddies and teammates for the Jr. Penguins. Could that be the metaphorical feather that tips the scale for Cooley staying? Come to think of it that’s probably the only reason Bob has kept Geno as a commit. His numbers don’t exactly jump out at you.

No one on this team will be faster next season than Oliver Moore. Hopefully he will be able to contribute in that capacity as well.
Oliver Moore is a freaking stud and not enough people are talking about him. Will probably be the best player on the team next year.
No this was assuming Cooley signs
If Cooley stays, a Cooley, Snuggy, Moore line would be electric!
If Cooley stays I call us winning it all. Haven't made a call since Vanek signed and called the back to back.
BTW I also said randomly on USCHO how cool would it be if Pohl hit 200 points and the last point was the one that won the title at the X. I was sooooooo close!!
Has anyone who paid for a season parking pass received a refund yet for the $30 we overpaid?
FWIW, one of the Coyotes beat writers says he doesn't expect a decision from Cooley until next week. ( which probably means he makes a decision today ) ?
I'm 50% factual and 50% sarcastic. When you get to know me, you will know which is which.

Congrats to Sammy on his first NHL assist.
Sabres GM Adams--

the number of times I’ve refreshed Logan Cooley on Twitter is…. Not a low number

That would be a fun line to watch, what a scoring line those 3 would be if it worked out that way.
Good times...

I think the debate in Johnson's mind is does he sign with the Sabres or does he sign with another team in August.

Per Adam Wodon of CHN there are rumblings both Cooley and Fantilli will be back next year.

Fantilli has not been drafted yet. I think he goes if the team that drafts him wants him now to step into the NHL. If they say that they aren't in a rush, then he would probably come back.
The threat of him staying at Michigan is the only leverage he has to that team, so he needs to at least make it look like it is in question.
The more I hear he may stay the more I'm convinced he's gone. Or that he'll be the next Okposo / LaFontaine.

Plus, Johnson seems to be one that takes his time in making decisions. Last year he didn't make his decision public until late summer.

Maybe these guys are starting to see that the longer they stay in school, especially at Big 10 schools with the luxuries, the less likely they are going to wind up spending time in the AHL? As has been said here in the past, if Casey Mittelstadt had stayed an extra year it may have saved him a year or two in the minors working his way up.
I know the argument can be made that the AHL is the best NHL training ground, but with the parity today the NCAA isn't any slouch either.

The person who just signed a pro-deal and can afford to buy all the burritos.
If Cooley comes back.
"Hobey Baker" clap clap, clap clap clap
Free burritos >>>>>> paying for burritos
The math is clear!
If Cooley comes back.

Agreed. I think he was clearly better than Fantilli from January on. Celebrini should be a high impact freshman for BU, so it will be interesting to see what he does as a Freshman.
Coupled with the "Lane Train" (how annoying was that name) --- BU fans will want them both in the hat trick to make up for this year.

Cooley doesn't need any more skill development. He needs to grow a man body.
In my opinion, it's better to do that in college where he'll go out there against kids nearer to his own age group.*
*Except when they play Mankato, St. Cloud, UMD, Quinnipiac, and now Wisconsin.
My daughter just made the U her choice for college so I’m hopeful Cooley stays and tickets for parents with kids in the student section are at a discount ? but if Cooley comes back I guess I’ll be fine either way.?

maybe then Hutson can only go -3 instead of -5 when they play us
