My gut says the 8th team will not be an affiliate but who knows. I could see a rich donor getting USC or UCLA in the mix. The state of Illinois some how has 0 college hockey teams. To me, Northwestern feels like a College Hockey school.
Yeah, I think the best case scenario would be for a Big Ten school to promote their club hockey program to D1. I think Denver would be a perfect fit for the 8th member of Big Ten hockey and would be a great affiliate for the conference. But yes, I know that there is no way they would ever leave the NCHC.

It is a little disappointing that none of the games are on BTN this weekend. I don't think I have access to them on BiG+ since I bought a school pass for MN. Or was it a sport pass for Hockey? I guess I'll have to check and see.

The goalies had less input into the design of their mask than I expected. Certainly a couple of specific nods on the back plate, but overall seemed to just let Nick do whatever.

The last I hear last weekend is that there is a 99% chance it is 7pm... But not 100%.
There are slight complications due to the State High School Tournament consolation games that will happen there earlier in the day as well as programming on BTN.

Talked to an arena guy I know at the women's tonight. It will be the night game. They asked the Big Ten for 8, but the way TV will set it up it probably will be 7.
Women probably play at 2 in the NCAA QF at Ridder as well.

think the problem with that for Mich St is unless St Cyr makes 40 saves, they can’t win a game like that against us. Maybe they’ll try, but I can’t see them sitting in that way unless they get a lead. Hasn’t been their style all year

If North Dakota wins the NCHC playoffs they will finish ahead of the Atlantic conference winner in Pairwise hence if the Gophers finish number #1 under this scenario they could get moved out east so they can play the lowest rank team rather than play North Dakota in Fargo.

i think it’s hard to say on many levels. If UND wins out, I think they get higher than 15 in the rankings probably. That being said, I agree the likelihood of us not being in Fargo is exceedingly low

In related news the Gophers did this in preparation for next season when they will split into two teams in order to bring the Big Ten to 8 teams and to give the other 6 teams a chance.
Coach indicated that after winning the Conference title by 19 points/more than 6 games he needed to find a way to give his players some competition.
