I enjoy taking my 7 year old grandson to a couple Gopher hockey games a year. He enjoys them and is a big Gopher fan. Always have to hit the Kemp's ice cream between the 2nd and 3rd periods! He'd love to have a Gopher hockey jersey but they don't exist in youth sizes except for a Youth Large. Which would fit a kid in his early teens. The youth large they do show is perpetually "out of stock" anyway. I decide to see if other B1G schools offered youth hockey jerseys. A quick check of both the Wisconsin and Michigan fan shops shows they offer a full range of youth sized hockey jerseys. Maybe youth jerseys aren't a money maker but I sure think they are a good way to build a life long fan base. There is absolutely nothing in the Golden Gopher Fan Shop kids section that is hockey oriented. I think that needs to change!

While I'm on the subject of the Golden Gopher Fan Shop, I recently ordered the 100 year commemorative Gopher Hockey T-shirt for myself. What a piece of crap! I was very disappointed in the quality. The material is paper thin and isn't going to hold up well at all. I also ordered a sweat shirt for my granddaughter at the same time. It too was of very poor quality. Not the usual heavy sweat shirt material you'd expect. Very thin cheap material. The maroon color was off too. It was more red than maroon.

There is no place on the Golden Gopher Fan Shop website for any customer reviews or feedback. There really needs to be! The Golden Gopher Fan Shop needs to up it's game.

I haven't really bought much from The Golden Gopher Fan Shop recently. But in college I worked at Goldys Locker Room in Stadium Village and at least at the time they had a decent amount of youth clothing, including hockey jerseys. I haven't worked there for three years so I can't guarantee you what they have right now but it's worth giving them a call or taking a look on their website

The UofM bookstores have had a decent selection of youth clothing in the past. If you haven't been to the store in Coffman, it is very nice. It looks like the have 3 sizes for a youth hockey jersey, although I didn't check on availability.

2 years ago when I checked Goldy's Locker Room in Stadium Village they had no youth hockey jerseys. The guy at Goldy's Locker Room in the Mall of America told me last year that they hadn't had any youth hockey jerseys in a long time. I do see 2 youth hockey sweatshirts and a couple of hockey t- shirts on Goldy's Locker Room website. They also have a place for reviews on their website which is good. None of the products I looked at had any reviews. They must be new products.

You could also try ClassicMNHockey to see if they would be willing to have youth jerseys made.

Teenagers likely would be in an adult small hockey jersey at minimum

Why don’t you just buy him something he can wear for years and grow into? I think it’s adorable to see little kids wearing a jersey down to their knees :D

Note: Due to inflation dirty deeds will no longer be done dirt cheap.

A LONG time ago I worked at Gold Country Sports (which eventually became Goldy's Locker Room after an ownership change). Anyway, we never carried very much youth stuff as the minimum order requirements were more than what demand called for. We just didn't get a lot of request for youth sizes. Obviously times may have changed but that's how it was in the past.

I ordered some stuff from the Gopher shop (Fanatics) during the Black Friday sale. Very disappointed. The Nike shirt was red and yellow (with a gold M that was a very different color from the sleeve detail). I also got a pullover and sweatshirt (both Coliseum brand) and they were super thin and the logos were flimsy embossed and will surely fall apart after a wash or two.

Can’t say I am thrilled that Fanatics will be what is sold in the arena stores. Why is the U of MN so cheap when it comes to sports apparel? So many other schools put us to shame in that department in terms of the volume and quality of apparel. Hell, Wisconsin has its own badger under Armour store on state street! The U won’t sell authentic jerseys and can’t seem to figure out what maroon and gold is.

Same here. Bought a nice polo shirt. The M is ironed on and not embroidered. That won't last.

Let's put it this way, I was THRILLED when Cowgirl said she'd pick up a certain license plate frame from the arena when I couldn't get it in the store. And I thought it very lucky just to find an old-school Goldy logo hockey decal to put on my windshield. That's just sad.

When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.

You should return them all and let them politely know why. If enough of that happens maybe they'll figure out they need to provide better qualify products.

Look at the ridiculous basketball floor. My Badger wife saw it on TV last week and was teasing me we had a red and white floor. My kid picked up where she left off and was asking why the floor was so much more red than the seats.

Several years ago I bought my wife a nice heavy cotton gold crew sweatshirt with Minnesota silk screened on the front. She has asked for a new one this year for Christmas as her current one has seen better days. I've been to several sporting goods stores looking for a replacement. Just a few thoughts.

1. Maybe I'm spoiled from my late 1980's days at Gold Country Sports but the quality of heavy cotton sweatshirts has really gone down. Back in the day (get off my lawn) the Champion Reverse Weave was THE gold standard in heavy cotton sweatshirts. Nothing like that nowadays. Even the current reverse weave are nothing like they used to be.

2. I was pretty impressed with the U of M bookstore (the physical store, not the online store). They have a pretty good kids/youth selection. They also do sell an "authentic" adult jersey but in this case "authentic" means it is authentically licensed. No way is it an authentic level jersey.

3. Scheels in Eden Prairie has a pretty impressive college apparel selection of not just U of M stuff but of other "local" colleges like Mankato, UMD, North Dakota, NDSU, Iowa State, Iowa, Wisconsin. What I liked about the stuff they sold is that is what also pretty simple. I'm not a fan of apparel with a ton of stuff on it. Less is better for me.

4. Dick's had my least favorite selection. Just nothing I would wear. Good selection of pro stuff though.

5. Gold cotton sweatshirts with silk screen are a rarity. Most have sewn on tackle twill letters. I'm not a fan of tackle twill on cotton sweatshirts as the sweatshirts inevitably shrink but the letters don't so the letters pucker. When I used to work at Gold Country and someone wanted a heavy sweatshirt with tackle twill lettering I would recommend they buy the plain sweatshirt first, bring it home, wash it and dry it, and then bring it back and we would have the letter(s) sewn on. I especially recommended this if they want they wanted the big M on the front. The puckering was more pronounced with the big M that it was with smaller letters. If they didn't want to take the time and go that route I would tell them to wash in cold water and line dry. That works great but eventually everyone ends up washing it in warm water and/or putting in dryer.

I have a super heavy sweatshirt I got at a place at the mall of America a long time ago; I still wear it! I can’t remember if was called the college shop or the college hockey shop?

I agree, it’s harder to find good quality items these days.

Looks cool, but I’d bet it’s a cheap sweatshirt and a thin embossed logo.

I usually spoil myself by getting a Gopher related jersey every year or so. Thanks to Cardinal's heads up, I ordered the new white jersey from Scheels this year. I'm happy with it, and the only difference is the 100 year patches are on the shoulders and not in front.

I'm 50% factual and 50% sarcastic. When you get to know me, you will know which is which.

There was a store on the first floor next to Sears called The College Store. It closed several years ago. They had really good stuff

When I was accepted to college (holds hand in front of mouth and mumble how many years ago) one college sent me a sweatshirt. I still wear it! It’s a little worse for wear, holes in the cuffs, stretched out neck, but I wear it. And 15 years ago I got a Gopher hockey hoodie. I wear it to almost every game, it still looks NEW! Heavy cotton, stitched on lettering.

But part of the problem is the majority of people won’t spend the money. It’s the “Costco-ization” of our country. We want it cheap in price, not seemingly able to understand that means cheap in quality too. And it may also be a generational shift. I buy high quality clothes when I can because I wear them for years. I’m admittedly not very trendy. My niece? She buys cheap poorly made clothes she has no intention of wearing more then a single season. She’s the same generation who buys cheap furniture because she will redo her apartment every couple of years. So maybe the U has figured out current students want cheap first and so that’s what’s available.

Note: Due to inflation dirty deeds will no longer be done dirt cheap.

I have two Gopher hockey hoodies that I wear to the games. Both are older and very high quality. One is gold, the other is maroon. When I wear one Friday night and the Gophers win, I wear it again on Saturday. And vice versa. Seems to work about 50% of the time.

When it comes to jerseys I agree with you. As far as sweatshirts go I’ve never been a fan of tackle twill. And yes, it is best to line dry tackle twill sweatshirts but all it takes is one accidental trip in the dryer and you’ve got a puckered sweatshirt.

So they are the Kohl’s of online shopping. Spend $30 and they say you saved $300.

I was going to make the same Kohl’s comparison. I have this conversation with my mom and the next time she brings a gift for my kids she tells me what a good deal she got. And she has Kohl’s cash to spend if she goes back within a coupes weeks!

Not exactly what this thread was meant for but has anyone had an issues with ordering a jersey from Vintage MN Hockey in the past? I ordered a jersey in November and have not received it. I’ve emailed, left them a voicemail and sent them a dm on Twitter with no response. I’m ok waiting, but I would just like to have some sort of timeline.

Did you have it customized? That could add some time. I believe it’s just one person who runs the whole thing on his free time but I’ve never had a problem getting things I’ve ordered.

Yes it was. I definitely have no issues waiting, but I was really just hoping for a timeline or a message that they were working on it.

FYI they are running a "65% off sitewide" sale until 11:59PM on Monday. Plus free shipping on orders $29 or more. Must use code: 65SAVE .

Fanatics is ALWAYS running a sale. They just jack up the prices accordingly.

So they are the Kohl’s of online shopping. Spend $30 and they say you saved $300.

I used to always get customers that would ask me to match JCPenney's 65% off window treatment sales. I said I would match their prices and never once was their 65% off prices lower than my regular prices.

Gophers 100 Year white jersey now available at Fan Shop. It appears to be the same on that I got at Scheels earlier. K1 brand

Quite the K1 logo on the back. Thinking about it though.

Ok, so I tried to buy the jersey and it says it is $93.74 with the SALE60 code on the product page. Then I add it to the cart and go to checkout and it is $99.99. What the hell...

I thought the scheels one had one 100 patch down low.

Too bad they can’t make them look like the authentic tho...

Is that taxes and shipping?

Nope, the base price. There’s no tax on clothes in MN anyway and the code includes free shipping (other than $1.99 handling fee). The shipping is showing as $0.00 correctly. I tried to chat with them but there is no one.

I also can’t figure out how to use the Gopher Loyalty 15% discount for being a season ticket holder. I found a pullover that’s not on sale I like but don’t know how to get our discount. I used the link from the Gopher Loyalty benefits page to get to Fanatics, so unless there’s a special code I don’t know about...

I’ll send a note to the U to see what they say.

Yeah their math is sketchy but I bought one anyway cause I bet they’ll sell out quick. I never found a way to use the discount either, I don’t think you can with fanatics, just Goldy’s.

Too bad they weren’t customizable, would have loved to add a number at least.

I wish we would still have access to something more authentic but this is likely the closest we’ll get.

Their pricing advertised is lower than what you actually get on a number of items I tried. Price of the item determines how different. There were some PJ pants my daughter liked that advertise as $26.64 or something like that and are actually $27.99 with the sale code.

We’re supposed to get 15% online according to the Gopher Loyalty overview page - they even have a link that takes you to the Gopher Fanatics store front.

Very sketchy.

I just checked mine. Patches on both shoulders/arms. I'm pretty sure that the Scheels and Fan Shop are the same ones. I think I paid $99 from Scheels with free shipping in October

Well, the prices shown on product pages says with the specific code, but when you use it things are actually priced higher. And, for the Gopher Loyalty discount I was interested in something that was full price and not on sale.

I’m going to see what response I get from athletics. Interestingly it also says we get 15% off at in venue locations. I thought all in venue merch was Goldy’s?
