Dave Preuss dies at 56. Big athletic player out of St. Thomas Academy that had a solid freshman year then had a freak locker room accident and didn't play much (if any, don't remember for sure) after that.

Dave Preuss played 81 games in parts of three seasons.
The kind of player every Gopher team must have. Big, physical, tough and never afraid of getting his nose dirty. :club:
A real warrior, a Stones fan. RIP.

I saw that photo and my first thought was "Wow... Grant Potulny hasn't aged well".
Noel Jenke passes away at age 73. Played hockey, baseball and football for the Gophers and was drafted in all three sports. Native of Owatonna. Baseball career topped out at AAA. Played four years in the NFL as a linebacker, including one year for the Vikings.

Just came to post that. Not to be a Debbie Downer but at last a few of those aren't very likely to ever dress right? Looking at Rau and Robson for starters.
Regardless would love to see as many as possible do great things!
I was also somewhat surprised Fasching was included with Arizona. He has been MIA for a couple of years, and he is another that will most likely not see any action.

For those who subscribe to The Athletic there is a fantastic article on Justin Holl. The story of how he’s made it to a Top 4 D role with the Leafs is an excellent read

Great Tweet / story.

Ben Clymer qualified for the MN State Amateur yesterday.
I saw DeMarchi at Union 32 in Eagan about two weeks ago. No blood drawn and he didn’t go to the box.

That likely means the game wasn't well in hand and/or he didn't need to be out there standing up for his teammates. :biggrin2:
B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?

Amateur what? Golf?

I thought union 32 had closed.
Really sad news from Bulldog Country. Tom Kurvers was a fantastic college player.

And that USA sweater in between them is pretty recognizable too

The middle three were obvious to me, and I recognized Staal and fleury. I should have had brown but couldn't place him.
I remember how long it felt between '89 and '02 and to think the program is on a similar stretch now? Never thought it would happen again after B2B.

A season to remember: Former Gophers Potulny, Lucia reflect on 2002 national title
Although the unnamed alumni offered a later mea culpa, and even though tDon lost some steam towards the end of his tenure, I've felt like former players have been as big of a detriment to the program as anything. Hopefully Bob can get it done within the next few years.

The Isles are in a salary cap crunch and Leddy drew the short straw and was sent to the wasteland of Detroit. Luckily for him, he only has 1 more year on his deal.

With Steve Y in charge now In Detroit he will likely turn their fortunes around eventually…but it won’t happen overnight.
I have seen speculation that Leddy may have been acquired by Yzerman as a tradeable asset.
I hesitate to post this because, well, the outcome. But here's a full game from 02 if anyone is interested:
