End of 2, Gophs trail 0-2.

Man, tough to complain too much about that 2nd period. A million high quality chances, their goalie is spectacular.
Their goalie has played absurd. Our goalie couldn’t stop a breakaway if our life depended on it.
Shot attempts 34-7 in the 2nd and 57-24 for the game

SHOOT for the stringy thing.

2 horrible turnovers you can’t make will be the emphasis. This will be a learning game no matter how it ends but this is stuff that gets you eliminated at the end of the year.
They aren’t updating shots in the arena very often. It still says 20-15 (us).
SCORE DAMMIT!
Wood 1-2, EAG.

We’ve got wood, yes we do…
When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.
Good camera work by the crew in Bemidji.
Lawson 3-1, ENG.

Game over, BSU wins 3-1.

Fwiw faceoffs have been a struggle but Moore just won like 7 in a row with the extra attacker.
Glad that the team completed hard. The two losses this year have both been 'goalie stole it' kinds.

They always have had a decent production. Dunno if it still rings true, but in years past, they've been on Channel 2/TPT.

What were the actual SOG? It still says 20-15 here.

I think they let him win a few of those. They were trying to rush forward and intercept his draw to push it out of the zone. Worked that last time.
I'm 50% factual and 50% sarcastic. When you get to know me, you will know which is which.
Both losses this year have been solid effort games where I think we were the better team. And ran into a hot goalie. What do you do? Wish we could have had a better go at it there on the last try, but it is what it is. Shoot
The first period intermission shots were 13-11 gophers iirc, so it was 26-10 in the last 2 periods, which is how it felt to me.
Hockey is hockey, not gonna will them all. Lose and learn now so you don't make the same mistakes in March and April.
A loss now and then to keep em sharp isn’t gonna kill em. Last time we lost we went on a 9 game win streak😄
I thought Hendrickson had a great start to the season. He has come way back down to earth.
Need a lot more production from Oliver Moore.
Team misses Cal Thomas a lot. Thomas vs Whipple is night and day difference.
Social media is always fun after a Gopher hockey loss… The cluelessness of people come out. GPL might be the only place you can go w/o wanting to eat glass. Still have the usual characters that look for the few negatives and never knowledge the handful of positives.
Keep your stick on the ice...
The expected goals tonight
Gophers 6.3
Beavers 2.6
The OT loss to Omaha
Gophers 4.5
Omaha 2.1
The 1-0 win against Penn State
Gophers 1.8
Penn State 2.1
Why can't Bob Motzko get a goalie who can stand on his head? I find it interesting that all these teams we play find a way to get great goalies and we always are below average.
Exactly, Souliere stole the PSU game. If you haven’t given up more than 2 all year, that’s more than solid. Some nights you just don’t have it offensively, a good lesson tonight about spotting opponents early 2 goal leads, they’ve overcome it a few times already this season, but eventually it bites you. The long bus ride home from Bemidji is a November learning moment for the players & likely teaching point for the coaches.@jankwi01 If you only give up 2 goals, it is not on the goalie. Souliere has not given up more than 2 in a game all year.
especially when he arguably helped steal that PSU game we won 1-0
Team is 10-2. I see no reason to panic seeing as both losses this year were games we dominated. Frustrating lack of “finish” in the boys game tonight but we’ll be fine.
There’s never a good loss, but sometimes it’s better to take one on the chin…if it results in learning from it. It’s FUN to win & get sweeps, especially for fans, but building & learning for the 2nd half of the season is what’s critical for a team that has plenty of talent.Team is 10-2. I know Irey got both of the 1st Period goals for the Beavers, but if Sholl didn't get the #1 star for the night, people in Bemidji aren't paying attention. He kept them in the game Thursday and flat-out stole the game tonight.Tip your cap to scholl.. dude is legit. Learn from it & start another streak next weekend.
B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?
Glad I recorded that one and didn’t waste time watching it live 😂 woof! Do you want to keep this recording? *Delete now*
This team probably wins that game in a close one if they don’t sleepwalk through the first two periods but against a very good goalie like Scholl you can’t afford to do that.
They didn't sleepwalk through the first 2 periods

Gophers were not going to go undefeated this season
Aloha!
They didn't sleepwalk through the first 2 periods
Exactly. This something people on Twitter seem to think happened, and to those people I ask “which game were you watching?”.
Two inexcusable miscues in the first but the Gophers carried play and generated chances in all 3 periods.
I’d be more concerned if we got absolutely worked by Bemidji and lost.

I also like the weekly "I wish we had that goalie on the Gophers" posts across social media. It is almost as agitating as "we should have recruited player X or every player who hits the portal should be a Gopher" post.

tv announcers said it in that “I know irey has scored both goals tonight, but sholl is stars 1, 2, and 3”
2 announcer notes.
1. The one announcer could be Motzko’s brother.
2. Anyone watch the intermission interview with Jutting? That same announcer seemed like a total buzzkill.
I heard this morning that Sholl is in the hospital; he is expected to make a full recovery after his horseshoe-ectomy. 🤭
That turnover by Nevers on BSU’s 2nd goal had me flabbergasted. Not a play a 5th year senior should be making. Maybe he was scared to get hit. Lazy sums up that sequence by him.
This loss was weeks in the making. Guess the team wasn’t learning lessons that not playing a full 60 and still winning games wouldn’t last forever.
@wilson34 he's a senior and was the CCHA goalie of the year last year. unless he's got a mystery bonus year and somehow didn't have offers last year that he will this year, he's staying at bsu

More or less what I heard Bob say during his post game comments. Not scoring is a lot different from lack of effort.

That shift for Minnesota was terrible. Nevers' spasm was the chef's kiss.
The team has benefitted from a soft schedule so far, and half the games have been close. It could be argued they deserved a couple more losses. The test is coming when they play back-to-back against the Michigan teams. They better make hay on a struggling Notre Dame beforehand.
Last night's game was a defensive formula for shutting down teams of pretty skaters and big shooters. Block shots, play defense, and stop the puck. This is the type of game every Gophers', BC, BU, and Michigan fan fears come playoff time.
The second they got three straight power plays which skewed things in our favor but they didn’t have a ton of great chances on them from what I recall. Compared to Friday it didn’t look like the team had the same amount of fire until the third where they got a bit unlucky not to tie it.1st period, arguably. 2nd, absolutely not. They didn't sleepwalk through the first 2 periods
Bemidji had two high quality scoring chances in the first ten minutes and executed on both. After that the Gophers mostly dominated puck position but came up against an excellent goalie. Like the Omaha game, these are the games less talented teams play against Minnesota- and BC-type teams because they can't compete in a track meet. They either get a lead early and protect it or they keep it close as long as they can and tie it up at the end. If there's one thing I've learned from seeing countless games like this it's that sometimes the very talented team that comes up a against a hot goalie starts giving the goalie too much credit and they start thinking they need to make the perfect play to beat him, when more often than not it's the ugly goals and the odd bounces that do it. Create more chaos and rebounds in front of the net and get some garbage goals. Last night the Gophers got some good first chances but not as many second and third chances in front of the net. When the scalpel isn't working try the shovel.
