WisconSIN sucks this year but they have given Duluth and Michigan trouble. This should be a sweep, but with the rivalry factor you never know.

FYP
SWEEP.
Hope the University really tries to market these games before the Christmas break. Would love a couple good crowds to watch us beat the pulp out of the BADgers.

I can't say anything more that hasn't been said. So, the Lord willing, we will see some glory.
When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.

There are a ton of plays I love from this series, but one call stands above the rest. Phil Kessel prompting, "take that you stinkin' badgers" is perfect.
Ironically enough I'll be back home visiting my folks in WI for birthday/Christmas celebrations. Will have to turn the game on during the gathering and commence trash talking my badger alumni uncle.
My daughter is already primed to remind him Bucky is a skunk in a popcorn box.

If the Axe doesn’t make an appearance that’ll be a giant miss. I’m not saying we have to obnoxiously have it out the entire weekend and completely over do it. But, especially if we’re sweeping them, bring that trophy out and really get the crowd going.
Can’t take the badgers lightly. Not that any Gopher team would. They appear to be trending up at the moment and have enough skill to beat anyone.
Still predicting two convincing wins on home ice.

I'm 50% factual and 50% sarcastic. When you get to know me, you will know which is which.
The games as a whole, certainly. Individual plays that make good clips, not as much.It has been a few years since there's been a worthy addition, we're overdue.Hope we can add another great clip to the repertoire!
I dunno the 8-0 Big 10 champions game was alright. 2021 tournament championship game too.

Would be nice to sweep and keep making space at the top of the B10 standings. If they play like they did vs Mich St, no reason it can’t happen
Should be a fun weekend! I’m going with my brother and uncle on Friday night and then bringing a few friends on Saturday. I’ll echo what others have been saying, if we play like we did in the mitten state we should be just fine and we’ll be going into the break on a high note with a sweep. But while Wisconsin stinks they still have talent, they’ve won five of their last six, and they would love nothing more than to walk into Mariucci and spoil our weekend. Yes, I know four of those five wins were against Lindenwood and LIU but a wins a win and with the upset against Michigan this weekend I’m sure they’d love to keep what little momentum they have going. Can’t let them hang around and give them any hope. Like I mentioned on Friday, from what I saw of the Wisconsin win over Michigan, Michigan looked out of sorts and it looked like they thought they could just win on talent alone. Wisconsin got them frustrated, out of sink, and took advantage. Let’s just play Gopher hockey and beat the snot out of these guys.

Also, I feel like I saw quite a few of the goals scored by Wisconsin were shots from the blue line that either took a deflection or got through traffic and then, either way, beat Portillo. We need our defenseman, or any of our big guys for that matter, to be strong and move guys so Close can see the shots from Wisconsin.

Last one, I promise. But this was a great game that doesn’t get mentioned as much from a team that 2016-17 season that was actually quietly pretty good and unfortunately just didn’t pan out in the post season. Sheehy’s Hobey finalist year but lost to Notre Dame in the first round of the tournament. That year we also lost Novak and Lindgren to season ending injuries within the last month of the regular season.
Sidenote: I’m really glad whoever was in charge of the highlights stopped putting music over everything but the goals. I much prefer hearing just the guys calling the game and the sounds of hockey while going back and watching the highlights.
This might be heresy, but I think I'd like to see Knies on a different line at some point.
I think he's one of the best forwards in college hockey, but he gets a bit overshadowed by his linemates who clearly have great chemistry with each other.
Put kurth or pitlick or lamb up with Cooley / snuggerud and put Knies with huglen. I'd think huglen might be able to get going offensively with Knies on his line. Seems like he's on an island a fair amount.
I get what your going for but I just can’t get behind breaking up the Knies-Cooley-Snuggerud line. They’re too good.
I think I'm with Eckes on this. Try moving Knies to another line. If that messes with the Cooley/Snuggy pairing's mojo, then move Knies back, but I think those two are so good on their own, they may not need Knies.

Culver’s in 5 of the last 6 games. I’d say don’t tamper with anything at the moment. If they run into a wall offensively later in the season by all means try it out.
Well, that thought has a lot of merit, too, that's for sure. I'm more thinking, do the testing earlier in the year, don't wait until it gets close to playoff time.

Knies will get his chance during the World Juniors when the other two are away. I don't think they need to mess with it for this series. Finish out the fall and go from there.
I was actually going to comment last night that it's nice to have two lines that are scoring regularly. The Knies, Snuggy, and Cooley line then the Nelson, Brodzinski, and Nevers line. It puts a ton of pressure on the opposing team to have to defend both. There aren't many teams that are deep enough to do that. If the third and fourth lines contribute one goal a game, it's a big boost. That more than anything is the recipe for our success recently.

Absolutely! That and getting regular contribution offensively from our blue line. No disrespect to previous Gopher teams but that is not something we had four or five years ago.
If the series was in Madison, I wouldn’t be surprised if the series was a split. Especially with wisconSIN coming off a split with Michigan. Being that the series is in Mpls. I only see a sweep and two curb stompings as well. Much like last year.
Keep your stick on the ice...
2 lopsided wins for the Gophers. Culvers yum!
Go Gophers!!
If I were Bob I would have video playing of the red pukes lopsided win over the corn pukes on repeat. All week.

I think its a great idea to at least give it a look. Like @Snowcool08 said, Knies will get a few games away from 92/81 with the WJC coming up. Play Knies with Huglen then and see if there's anything there.
I understand the thought behind this but forcing people to watch Wisconsin/Michigan over and over again is cruel and unusual punishment. Nobody deserves that. ?If I were Bob I would have video playing of the red pukes lopsided win over the corn pukes on repeat. All week.

Agreed!
The No Name Line is the best line in college hockey. Leave them together. This is their time to shine! Go Gophers!

Granted I have only seen about 1/3 of the games so perhaps it's an on-ice thing when referring to Knies being overshadowed?
Snuggerud 11 G 12 A 23 P
Cooley 7 14 21
Knies 11 8 19
The Snuggy, Cool, Knies line in 18 games has 29 goals and 34 assists.
Seven guys are on pace to score 12 or more goals this season.
Huglen (1 goal), Kurth (3 goals), and Lamb (2 goals) IMO are likely to score quite a bit more in the second half of the season.
Huglen has 1 goal on 36 shots which is a 2.3 shooting %. Last season he had 7 goals on 51 shots which is a 13.7 shooting %. He is getting more chances/shots per game this season yet is scoring 1/6 as often per shot compared to last year. Regression to the mean would dictate it will even out at least some in the second half of the season.
If this team lacked depth then maybe you move Knies or Snuggerud to a different line but that’s not the case. Huglen will prob see more success in the scoring dept as CHA^^ mentioned above me and I think some of the freshmen improve as the year progresses. Not like you need to break up the other lines, Nelson/Brodzinski/Nevers line has been great (wouldn’t have predicted that going into this year not gonna lie!) and I think the other lines seem to gel just fine.
Also I’d hate to see that line broken up because those guys all compliment each other’s game well while excelling at different roles and they can create a ton of different looks with their skill sets.
Once Kurth gets going this team will really be a dangerous squad. I still think he’ll hit the 10 goal mark and he’s been sitting at 3 since the North Dakota series. Once he gets going I don’t think he’ll stop for another 3 years.

They're dangerous already, but I get what you're saying. I'd throw Lamb in there, too. He came in with a lot of fanfare for his scoring ability. I think both of those players have a high ceiling but find themselves down the lineup on a loaded team with depth.
Well no roster ever hits at 100%. If some guys pick it up in the 2nd half a few others might lag.
I'm more interested in seeing them reduce the number of defensive collapses and improve their PK as much as hope more players increase their PPG.
The Gophers in 10 of their last 11 games have been perfect on the penalty kill or didn't take a penalty. Over that span they are 22 of 24 killing penalties which is 92%.
