I’m hearing it was a challenge for a major penalty and the end of the period. It was a lost challenge. But no penalty on the board at all so odd all around.
They challenged looking for a major in the tussle at the end of the period. Lost three challenge
B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?

The seniors have scored 4 of the 6 goals in this series so far.
Now Fish and Closer 😉 need to score.
Does Fish with the OG count?
Comcast messed me up - I have all live games set to record. Comcast has the game as a "Replay", so it isn't recording.
Boys need to not get drawn into the scuffles. Don’t retaliate and let RMU get on the power play.
Wheel, snipe, celly, boys!
When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.

Unfortunately it did for Robert Morris.
That was bad luck for Fish and Close. Closer makes a good save and the rebound hits Fish (who did a nice job on the 3 on 1) creating an easy tap in. If the rebound doesn't hit Fish the puck goes away from the crease/net/Robert Morris players.
Gophers weren’t exactly firing on all cylinders this weekend but got a couple wins regardless, can’t complain too much about that. Today there were a ton of posts and some brilliant saves by their goalie, it happens. Liked what I saw out of Moore and glad to see Nevers/Koster get their first goals. Close played well and defense was generally solid today.
Got the necessary sweep. Move on and keep taking care of business. Another one next weekend would be huge
Maybe they weren’t firing on all cylinders last night but for the most part I thought tonight was a pretty complete game by the boys in maroon and gold. Dominated the majority of the game and created plenty of solid scoring chances while potting four of them. Roll on to next week and get what would be a huge sweep versus Ohio State.
Today’s game was definitely more consistent. Yesterday they definitely were firing on all cylinders in the first and topping or even repeating that was unlikely, especially when they had to kill penalties for a good part of the second. Either way it’ll be interesting to see what they look like next week at home and hopefully they keep improving. The previous OSU series was pretty ugly.
Brings back some memories.
Coach Motzko gets his 400th D1 hockey win.

Bob on No. 400
"I've been around a while. I've been pretty lucky that a couple of pretty good universities have given me a job with a lot of good hockey players. I've surrounded myself with a lot of pretty good hockey coaches. I'm pretty fortunate, been pretty lucky and I know it."
Got two regulation wins. That’s all you can ask for. On to OSU, keep the train rolling!
There will always be some fans who disagree but in my opinion we are fortunate to have Bob as our coach. Over the past 5 and a half years the team under his leadership has improved every season as compared to the previous season so obviously he has down a great job building the program back up. When you have only one thing left to accomplish that means you are doing A LOT of things right.
Anyone who thinks Bob was the wrong choice then or now is just flat out wrong.
Bob brought the program back. Filled the seats and the talent has been great. There were people saying the U would never do this again with UMDs and Mankatos. Well, they are back and then some.
I would have liked to see how well Bonin21 would have done..... 😉
I'm 50% factual and 50% sarcastic. When you get to know me, you will know which is which.

More than this, the intermission "pep talks" would be appointment viewing.
I admit I am as guilty as anyone here in getting caught up in the National Championship that wasn't. That game was brutal and still weighs on my perspective of this year. Last year really was the year to do it and there is no one good reason we didn't. The way we lost, the speculation into why we lost and on and on. That being said, most college hockey fans would give anything (or at least a lot) to have what the Gophers have had the last few years. And again this year. A very good coach by all accounts. A team that has the talent and experience in important areas to beat literally ANYONE in the country. That does not mean we will because only one team will accomplish that. We have the hope and for me, the EXPECTATION that we will give this a very hard run. AGAIN. Go Gophers.
I think mostly everyone on here agrees that Bob is a pretty damn good coach. He isn't above criticism from me or others, but he has brought the expectations up to a national championship level quickly.
I can't help but wonder how differently I (and probably others) would look at things if Snuggerud finished the 2 and 1 against Q to give us breathing room. Or if Cooley wasn't baited into taking the penalty and having Q tie it up late. If the Gophers end up winning that game, I'm not questioning why he changed his neutral zone play in the 2nd period. Or why Faber didn't start overtime.
The players seem to love playing for him and he is doing a great job recruiting. He has brought back sky high expectations for me and other fans, which should not go unnoticed.
The thing that remains unseen for me is how and if he will use the transfer portal going forward. He has mentioned a few times now on his podcast how eye opening it has been for him to see Michigan State and Wisconsin totally revamp their rosters overnight. With those two running away with the conference, I personally hope he understands how important the portal can be to filling holes and replacing players that don't pan out.
When I look at things in totality, I think Gopher Hockey is in great hands with Bob as the coach.
Hockey is a very flukey game for whatever reason and frankly winning four games shouldn't cloud your opinion of the season. Single elim, non-series playoffs are fun and exciting but I find it fairly uncommon that they decide the best team.
if you roll a 7 after an hour of not, does that make it a shitty night? No way man. You'll talk about that night for years. As will we about last year.
Put another way.... Wisconsin barely tied Stonehill last night. Who is the better team?

agreed on all things you've said. The portal is an interesting thing in hockey and this year it's hard to say given we had no holes until Cooley's late departure at forward and a bunch of guys coming back using the extra year. Could definitely argue he should've looked harder into the portal for another D man, but at the same time, probably not a ton of guys looking to jump in to a place with Koster, Rinzel, Chesley, Thomas and Middlestadt being well established. Then next year we've got a bunch ready to come in. Does work well if you have some early unexpected departures or guys wanting to move on (maybe we'll see that next year), but I don't know if there was a ton of room for us to be super active for high end portal guys this year
I think the portal is an underutilized thing by the Gophers, but in reality they have not NEEDED to use it in recent years. More high level recruits than we have spots for is often the case. Cooley leaving late, regardless of people's feelings about it, created a problem for the team they did not think they had in a time frame too late to do anything really impactful. I know Clark came in ahead of schedule and he has, in my opinion be really good. Could we have gotten some more experienced D? Maybe. I am also pretty impressed with our young D core most of the time but like any young group, when they make a mistake it is often catastrophic. Trial by fire is an absolute truth for these guys this year with the conference being so tough and expectations sky high. My own included.
