For those who are curious.
its Nebraska Michigan wrestling followed by PSU Rutgers wrestling being aired instead
Gophers haven’t lost two games in a row since October 2023 and it’s not starting this weekend. Good guys win Friday then idk Saturday.
@maroon_and_gold should specify this to say in how games are scored in pwr

Yeah cuz shootouts are ties. Shootout losses aren’t losses.
BIG+ streaming now also does not recognize or support Chromecast which is BS. Hopefully FanDuel picks up the schedule for next year.

They are never going back to FSN/Ballys/FanDuel...

Idk anything about chromecast but isn’t that just being phased out entirely?

i mean i agree with you and think shootouts are stupid, but there may be those that disagree with that is all i was saying. expecting 2 very tight games and i like our chances even in EL with how the games went last time when we were exceedingly shorthanded. Hopefully Clark is back as well
Big+ DOES work on Roku. At least mine (stick). So it might just be a $40 purchase. I have used the cheaper one.BIG+ streaming now also does not recognize or support Chromecast which is BS. Hopefully FanDuel picks up the schedule for next year.

oh nice. I’ll have to get mine set as we’ve just been projecting the laptop onto the tv
From Bob's radio show--
Not much news this week.
Bob said the refs told him that Koster threw himself into the boards and that is why it wasn't CFB.
He really didn't want to get into the refs too much, but said there were missed calls and the refs swallowed the whistles.
Team needs to play a complete 3 period game.
Need efficient, good practices. Practices are much better when they have a full roster.
Bob did not mention anything about Clark's status and was not asked about a goalie rotation.

Was Bob eating a sandwich during the interview? lunch can wait til after the show! lol
What you can't skip is playing the whole game every game. This team has the ability to beat literally ANYONE but cans some winable games for unexplainable reasons. Yes, they are really still kids, but they are kids that have ambitions to higher things generally. For many (not all) it is time to decide what they want their future to look like. The here one game gone the next is not going to win any friends at the next level, and I do not mean just on the score sheet. AHL, NHL look at a lot more than that because the game is won often away from the puck. I really love this group and hope they find some higher level grit in the games to come because they will need it.
I'm hopeful that because Clark continued to play in game 1 after the hit, his absence in game 2 was more of a precautionary move rather than an indication that he is severely injured. Would love to see the Gophers fully healthy or nearly fully healthy against MSU this weekend since MSU really lucked out getting to play us in the first half of the season when we were at our most depleted. I still think this Gophers team is better than MSU, by a fairly wide margin, when (a) they are healthy and (b) they show up for all 6 periods. I just do not see the scoring depth on MSU that I see with the Gophers. There's Isaac Howard, but things drop off pretty quickly after that.
And this is, of course, the reason that scouts show up at games to watch players, rather than just watching on TV or reading the stat sheet.AHL, NHL look at a lot more than that because the game is won often away from the puck.
B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?

Agree to an extent. I’m one of the few people who came away from the series in December feeling good about the Gophers. They were the better team most of the weekend just ran out of gas at the end. Time to prove it this weekend.
I would like to see us tighten up the defense a bit. There have been some lapses the last few weeks that just can’t happen. Not giving the other team chances to score is what wins in March and hopefully April. Having Thomas back helps, but we need to keep clamping down.
Part of Bob's mid week media scrum. He did say he expects Clark back this week.

Sparty could be without one of their top players.

I must be very oblivious to MState players but Red Savage? Seems like he should be about 30. If the Gophers are healthy I like their chances but as Bob said there are some adjustments that need to be made on special teams and in the overall mentality that you must be on your game every game. The high highs are great but need to eliminate the low low losses that could be avoided. This team can definitely do it. Please practice face offs.
@mg-since-forever Savage was on the ‘21 & ‘22 US World Junior teams and played lights out. He transferred out of Miami to MSU but make no mistake, the kids a legit playmaker.
Not doubting it. Just seems like I have been hearing that name for longer than a college career! HAHA. Hopefully he is fine but the gophers have to put together their own game with the roster available this weekend just like MState. We got the very very short end of that stick the first time so hoping everyone is OK to play this weekend including their team. Not scared and would put our guys up against anyone.
Per Pat Micheletti, the radio tonight will be on 100.3 KFAN. (I updated the first post)

I agree for the skaters that MN is the better team, especially when you look at D corp and forward depth. But you need to consider the whole team and I think Augustine evens it out some. If he is on his game, MSU can win games in which they are outplayed. He made the difference in the last series.
Not much you can do about it. Doing the troubleshooting you did and full migration to a new host in @24 hours? That's an amazing effort, and the new host seems to be working great.Sorry that the message board was down for a day with such a big series coming up.

I’m not so naive to think that our players may not try and embellish from time to time so I’d be curious if Koster would actually fess up if he did try and draw a penalty.
With how incredibly strict they have gotten with calling majors on even incidental contact to the head, I’m actually surprised we don’t see more players try and draw these penalties by lowering their heads and running into elbows and such at opportune moments. Kind of like bouncyball players initiating contact when they shoot.
I think tonight, and this weekend in general, may be a litmus test for how tournament ready we are. I can understand how the second Notre Dame game could have been a trap after you vaporize them the first night and let your guard down a bit, especially if you start letting your mind wander to what is on deck the next weekend.
This weekend there is absolutely no excuse for not being ready to play and taking your opponent as serious as you would a tournament game. MSU will be in the same position so these should be two teams that come out as ready to play as the coaching staffs can make them. This series may tell us a lot about how well they may perform in the NCAA tourney.
A rare night with Bob going with 13 forwards ( Clark is the extra ) and 6 defensemen. Whipple sits.

NEED a big weekend here fellas. Looking for 6 good periods. Time to avenge a couple of weeks ago
LFG!!
Camera work already making me woozy
Kelly 1-0.

Did it go 5 hole? That sucks
MSU looks like they have much more jump to start. One Airey really will want back
Terrible PP followed by a quciky given up goal where the MSU player is barely noticed by the defense.
Terrible PP followed by a quciky given up goal where the MSU player is barely noticed by the defense.
This year Might be the most stagnant looking power play we’ve had in a long time. Very little movement from anyone. They get away with some great shooters but they really don’t leverage the extra man well
Face offs a problem so far as is possession of the puck. Such an underwhelming start to this game.
End of 1, Gophs trail 0-1.

Couple of good shifts at the second half of the period. Need more of that
They move the puck with such little urgency and don't really challenge the PK at all, the defense barely has to do anything.Terrible PP followed by a quciky given up goal where the MSU player is barely noticed by the defense.

1st period faceoffs have MSU doubling us up
I feel like I’m having multiple strokes trying to listen to the BTN+ broadcast. I love the big ten 😅
The highlights footage from the Spartans in the 80’s is better video than the game tonight.😂
Watching the old school highlights they just showed makes me wish they went back to the small goalie pads. The goalie pads now are obscene.

I want them to wire in the Spartan radio audio that was glitching in intermittently post pre-game. Better than these clowns.
Also not quite sure what the camera person is doing.
Yeah, another game with announcers who are painful to listen to. First time calling a game? Seems like Gopher Hockey has taken huge step back in media with streaming compared to years of most games on TV.
