Felt to me Huglen, lamb, Hendrickson stepped it up last weekend with a few others. I was a little surprised with snuggy, love the guys game, skill, speed and shot are all incredible, last weekend I found myself cringing whenever he had the puck and that’s not normal. Maybe it’s just me I don’t know, but I’d really like to see him get hot right now instead of turning the puck over. If he can get hot along with the others last weekend I have a great feeling about these guys hitting on all cylinders at the right time.

I love Snuggy, but if I have one critique of his game it’s that he sometimes gives up on a play.  You’ll see him fully engaged, trying to make a play, and then the puck will get turned over and you can almost see him get out of his hockey stance and start coasting rather than turning on the afterburners to win the puck back.  He’s a hell of a weapon, but sometimes his effort seems inconsistent when he’s not bearing down on the attacking goalie.

It's a fair criticism, and I've held this view for his entire career at Minnesota. He's a weapon, but he can also be a liability. I suspect his NHL-level critics can readily enumerate his deficiencies.

I like the kid, but he's frustrating to watch when he tries too hard or runs himself into traffic.

He might be one of those players who gets better when he moves on. He'll be around skilled players who can get the puck on his tape, and he won't feel like he has to play like the star player. He'll also benefit from better coaches and teammates who won't tolerate him going off-script.

Gophers aren’t in post season form yet like Penn St. When teams shift into post season effort games are much closer and that’s what happened last weekend when they took down Mich St. with a tie and split. More than we could do this year.  Mich St has ND this weekend and will take first place.  A split would be huge, I don’t think we are ready though.

tbh, this is kind a scoreboard viewing take. MSU dominated Saturday (especially after the first) but couldn’t score. The xG were 1.9-5.6, MSU won on the dot 41-22, and shot attempts were 82-32. Friday was very even.

PSU is a good team with an extremely good goalie. Our team is better and deeper, but they’re on home ice with a better goalie. Given we just swept OSU in a series we had to get a result, I don’t agree with your take that we’re not looking like we’re going into playoff mode.

"MSU Vs Penn State won on the dot 41-22, and shot attempts were 82-32"

"The xG were 1.9-5.6, in favor of MSU"

Yeah, I think we all can remember a few Gopher games that were like this in the past, and I bet our take wasn't, wow that other team we dominated in everything but goals is looking like a post season contender. Penn State is still playing very well overall the last few weeks, but I don't view them as a top ten type team. I would be disappointed if Gophers don't get 3pts+

Penn State recent Series

- 5/6 vs MSU (Great series  but got fairly lucky for 3 pts)

- 6/6 vs Notre Dame  (Notre Dame is struggling Hard)

-6/6 Vs Wisconsin

-3/6 Vs Michigan

Very much expecting a split as it’s a road series and a desperate team, but will surprised if we don’t match their intensity and want. Hopefully they come out flying Friday as I think surviving the early flurry is the key to the weekend

Gotta have at least 4 pts this weekend.  6 pack on the line with a Pedo State grad.  Prefer 6 pts in convincing fashion.

Since more eyes are on this thread:
MN Women are on Fox9+ right now, and again at 2pm tomorrow (IIRC).

When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.

Hoping for at least a split.  But what I’d really like to see is clean breakouts from our D zone, playing with a little urgency and sustained pressure in Penn St’s zone.  Too many times the Gophers have turned the puck over in our zone on the breakout, can’t have that in the playoffs.  Let’s go Gophers!!

It's a coincidence I'm sure!

Honestly the 4th line is the only one that doesn't look tired or bored.

it’s so frustrating. Is a classic bit of hockey. When things are sticking, just shoot the puck. You’re never at fault if the puck is on the net and you force a save. Team USA had the same issue in the 4 nations

I think J Mitts is injured as Pahlsson took his shifts that period

And we have guys that like to shoot too but God sometimes if they get frustrated at the blue line for a couple shifts they just stop trying and throw long passes to nowhere then keep passing instead of just throwing the puck on net.  Hendrickson and his crew do that early and often and it is why they get good opportunities.

Oh well win the 3rd and make tomorrow important! (For the title)
