Two goals last night and two goals tonight so far.
I WANT A SNUGGY HAT TRICK!!!!
Holy Snuggerud
I mean this from the bottom of my heart, I would die for Jimmy Snuggerud
This is the 1st time this year I feel like the boys are hungry! Good effort so far!
Snuggy has 15 goals and 5 assists.
Moore has 2 goals and 10 assists.
At first I was thinking that if those two get to the point where Snuggy is feeding Moore that line will be even better but not I am starting to think Snuggy should never pass and just shoot every time he has the puck. 🤣
Only two guys have more goals. The leader in the country has 17.
Snuggy is taking over. It is giving energy and confidence to other guys on the team. Every team needs some guys who lead on the ice. This is an important step for the team's growth. Chesley is the next guy who I think will reach a new gear in the coming weeks.
This year's team only has two juniors (Pitlick and Huglen).
Their seniors are good but not great so the growth will likely come from their sophomores with Snuggy and Chelsey as the top two sophomores who can take over.
Chelsey is going to be even more fun to watch next season.
That was a fun period to watch. Forechecking. Cycling. Getting second chances. Coming back to help their D get it out of the zone quickly. All good things.
It’s great seeing Snuggerud’s WJC confidence continue with the Gophers.
Pitlick with back to back goals. Gophers up 5-2
He now has 11 goals this season in 20 games.
He scored 5 goals in 30 games as a freshmen.
11 goals in 40 games as a sophomore
I am liking were this trend line is going for this season and next season.
SNUGGY with HAT TRICK!!!!!!!

Reading posts from tonight it's as if the Sunday game never happened.
Refs got bored and decided they would try make this a closer game.
CC scores a 1:20 into the game and the Gophers respond scoring 2 minutes later.
CC scores 5 and a half minutes into the third to pull within one the Gopher respond scoring 3 minutes later and three times over a span of 3 minutes.
I’m stating the obvious but 4 guys who played in the WJC seem to have benefitted greatly. Chesley looks more confident. Either that or they are riding a next level gold medal high.
Closer gets his 50th Gopher win. Moving him into a tie for 10th all time for Gopher goalies. He has a good chance to get to 6th by the end of the season.
How many people thought that would be said when Laffy left two years ago and it was "Oh no we are going to play a walk on goalie?"
Closer didn't have a great game yesterday but he was back on his game tonight.
When I see Oliver Moore on the ice I keep thinking "Is that Sam Warning?"
They both wear/wore 11, are both left handed, are both fast skaters (although Moore is faster) and are basically the same size.
Moore 5'11" 188 lbs
Warning 5'10 180 lbs
I do believe Oliver will end up being clearing better but Sam was a solid player for us for 4 years.
This was a must win imo and they played like it. Couple lapses, but that is ok. Great game. Love to see it
Are they allowed to wear the Gold jerseys for the rest of the season?
Are they allowed to wear the Gold jerseys for the rest of the season?
hey they can do a stick salute after every game now, so why the heck not!
All 6 goals were in transition tonight. They’re a dangerous team when everyone’s back checking and breaking out together.
Interesting tidbit from the radio post game, Rinzel was on the ice for all 6 MN goals tonight.

Since I was snowed in, I tracked the shifts for each line. These totals are 5 on 5 only. I did not track TOI, but the 4th line had the most short shifts. They had 4 shifts which I consider "half" shifts.
Moore line-- 6 shifts period 1, 6 shifts period 2, 6 shifts period 3. Total of 18
Huglen line-- 5, 5, 5 =15
Farm Kid line-- 5, 5, 5 =15
Clark line-- 5,5,3= 13
Lines after goals for-- 4th line twice, all other lines 1
Lines after Goals against-- Moore and Farm Kids line 1 each.
I'm sure the 4th line would have gotten more time in the 3rd if not for the 5 minute PP to end the game. ( I did not count their PP time late in the game)
I'm 50% factual and 50% sarcastic. When you get to know me, you will know which is which.
How much snow do you have? Last week I had to correct some blowhard on Twitter. He was trying to tell people that the farmers are really liking this winter with no snow. It’s going to make for early seeding.
Keep your stick on the ice...
Oliver had an awesome weekend. Took that whole line to another level with his play. Very encouraging

I think we got about 8 or so as of now from this storm, which is really is our 1st snow of the year. Should end up with about 10. Ask any farmer around here, and we are very concerned about the lack of moisture for the 3rd straight year. No one is wanting to plant early because of the lack of snow around here.

He needs that tenacity to his game. “That’s my puck and I’m going to take it back.”
A lot fewer posts following the W.
The offense Sam Rinzel has brought to the team as a freshmen has been big.
Rinzel 1 goal 13 assists. He leads the team in assists and is tied for 5th on the team in total points.
For comparison
Luke Mittelstadt 0 goals 8 assists
Mike Koster 0 goals 7 assists
Ryan Chesley 2 goals 4 assists
Jackson LaCombe as a freshmen had 3 goals 10 assists in 37 games
Ryan Johnson as a freshmen had 0 goals 8 assists in 37 games
Brock Faber as a a freshmen had 1 goal 11 assists in 27 games

He was great tonight...had one cringe worthy pass but otherwise played with a lot of confidence.
I thought the Nelson line had a rough weekend.
Strobel brings energy and muscle to that 4th line...keep him in there.
Minnesota started slow in the first and the third tonight but they gave CC a snuggy in the end.
I managed to watch the NC game, the Wild, and the Gophers in about a 4 hour time frame. It helped that the Wild game was fast-forwardable 😆
Finally caught up, I taped the game to watch the national championship game and NHL. Much more complete effort all around, helps to have the lead against a team like CC because you’re not pressing as much and creating openings for them. Close was sharper, the D didn’t make nearly as many mistakes, oh yeah and Snuggy was ok too I guess 😉. Good to see Strobel over Pino pay off, hopefully we see more of that.
Also that penalty on Chesley was… interesting 😂

I love that - I hope a lot more teams get snuggies this season. 😊
I have to admit I was a little worried it could be a facepalm kinda night after cc’s first goal. Fish has the puck bounce off his skate and he JUST STOOD THERE as the other guy hustled to it and put it in the net before Fish barely got his feet moving again. We could do without more of that or constantly throwing the puck up the wall to try and get it out of our zone to no one in particular and turning it over right away. We do miss our D guys from last year that’s for sure.
thankfully the guys didn’t get down on themselves and realized they can and should still play their offensive game whether we are down by one or up by ten.
Funny memory from our trip to CC in 2019: girl behind me asks the guy next to her what a sieve is. He says, “I dunno, I think it’s like a holey sponge.”
Hey Mbereko, you’re not a vacuum, you’re a holey sponge! Just doesn’t have quite the same ring to it. 😉
Team plays like that and they can beat anyone. Wasn’t perfect, but that was the intensity they need. Seems like Snuggy stepping into that leadership role. The WJC seems to have really done him some good, same for confidence for the others.
Wow! Much better last night than Sunday evening. I thought the D zone exits were much cleaner. They did a good job of keeping it simple. That Pitlick-Moore-Snuggerud line was great. I loved their energy and intensity. Hungry on every puck and made the most of their chances when they got them. The third line was buzzing and looked dangerous all night. That line together didn’t get on the scoresheet but Kurth draws a penalty by driving the net then Huglen and Lamb are directly involved in Pitlick’s first goal on the PP. I actually liked Huglen a lot this weekend. Especially last night. Was strong on pucks and made the right plays at the right time. Fourth line again was solid and again got on the scoreboard. I personally think the only staple should be Clark and then continue to rotate the other three until one or two really stand out. But that line of Strobel-Clark-Mittlestadt looked great. Overall a really good game and way to respond. I’m going to nitpick a little and just say that this was probably a weekend to forget for Fish and the Senior line. Hopefully they have a much better series next weekend.
There are a lot fewer negative posts, but he short of it is we know this team can play like last night. They should with the talent they have against a weaker opponent. So we need to see it all the time. Not just one night a series.
They need to do this both games next week and not even let Bobby Mo sniff success.
Jimmy is now second in the country in goals (16). Only Jack Devine for Denver has more with 17.
Great effort last night, after a bit of lacking that effort for half the game on Sunday, definitely good to see them bounce back.
Back to back nights of Fish gift-wrapping a goal for CC. Not sure what's happening here, but he needs to get that figured out.
B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?
It’s not only the fact Jimmy scores so many goals, for me it’s the fact that they’re ALL absolute snipes. He has 37 collegiate goals to his name so far and I think only 2 or 3 are rebound goals.
Few observations:
I agree Moore looked better this weekend than he has. Hope to see him take off in 2nd half.
On the idea of mostly playing 1st and 2nd line, Bob needs to think about future years. Guys need time on ice to improve and just winning on a given night is not his only concern. You want Clark to stick around 4 years instead of hitting Portal, you don't do that by giving him 3 shifts a game. And even with kids this age, playing back-to-back nights is tough if you play a ton of minutes.
If this team ever figures out how to play 60 minutes on consecutive nights, they will be fine and can compete with anyone.
And please learn to look for an open guy in your own slot instead of just watching puck.
BTN+ App sucks. No longer lets you chose to start at beginning of game if you join late, so you see the score. When you drag back to the beginning, you get like 15 minutes of logo and music before game starts. A third of the time you hit button to jump ahead, it actually goes backwards. And when I watched the 3rd period on Sunday on the saved and edited version, action was very jerky. People concur?
Who has had a better shot, Snuggerud, Potulny or Vanek?
This just in...Snuggerud has a decent shot.
Wow, just wow. His shot just seems to get better every game, if that's possible. The Gophers often overpass but if I'm a player and have any chance of getting it to JS I'm making an attempt. And JS? Don't pass the puck ever again. You can shoot any time you like.
The energy was so much better last night. They battled, and only a few times were getting run around in their zone. I like Oliver Mo(o)re and more every game. The beauty is that he should get better as he grows into his game and his speed is so much fun.
A couple really scary passes in the D zone (a strange blind backhand out of the corner by Chesley in the 2nd) but overall a solid D effort.
As for Close, and someone mentioned above, never did I believe he would become what he has when Lefty headed east. Kid is solid and as he racks up wins the story becomes even better.
No clue if this team can make it to St. Paul but more games like last night will certainly help.
Now, how about a sweep the next two weekends just for the heck of it.
This time of year I tend to agree that the fourth line should get more than 3 shifts, that seems a bit extreme. If the team is down a goal though they probably should rely heavier on the first three lines, depends on the situation. Clark should probably just move up to play wing on some line (probably Nelson line) and have Nevers move down, though they’ll def need him at center higher up the lineup next year.On the idea of mostly playing 1st and 2nd line, Bob needs to think about future years. I'd say 3 shifts a game at this time of year isn't enough, but, should definitely be weighted more toward the top lines. Last night, it seemed like the top couple lines were out for longer. As noted above, it looked like the 4th line in particular was mostly on the ice for short shifts.
B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?
Last night game was tied 1-1 CC scored but was not allowed, what happened I was busy at home I could not see the ruling
Aloha!
The PPG was waved off because one of the attackers was several feet offside. Suspicion is that the linesman was focusing on the line itself and missed the guy that was already in as the puck crossed.Last night game was tied 1-1 CC scored but was not allowed, what happened I was busy at home I could not see the ruling

There are games where our 4th line is our most impactful line🤷♂️ (Friday for example). I hope they stay with Mittelstadt-Clark-Strobel
