Pino on a breakaway gets pulled down.
Gophers take the power play rather than the penalty shot.
Come on let Pino take the penalty shot. 😆
I would’ve been heading to the gas station to buy a dozen power balls if he scored.
@gopherguy06 I’ve heard everything from they get to keep what they want to they donate them to like a children’s hospital. I’d like to know too.
Do we see Airey tomorrow? Conference slot secure. Unsure of Pairwise implications.
11-2-1 over the last 14 games. This has been done with every goal/no goal call going against them.
IMO BC and the Gophers have been the two best teams over the past 8 weeks.
Nice win.
Now THAT is Minnesota hockey! Do it again tomorrow night. You Michigan will come out firing.
First prize is a Cadillac El Dorado. Second prize is a set of steak knives. Third prize is you're fired.I am surprised at the lack of line depth that Michigan has. Top line is elite, 2nd is good and the other 2 are left wanting.

Sounds like caddy day at Bushwood.

Crazy how many times it's Nelson involved in the controversial goal calls.
The Gophers hold the 3rd highest scoring team in the country to 21 shots on goal.
@norm yes but he should be going hard to the net and creating chances with his size. After having a few taken away recently, couldn’t pick a more deserving player to get the hat trick.
What a great effort from the team tonight. Gopher hockey is awesome.
We now know that the Gophers will be playing Penn State in a best of three playoff series next weekend.
Crazy how many times it's Nelson involved in the controversial goal calls.
Im happy that it hasn’t deterred him from driving the net. Good things happen when he’s doing that. We will get the bounces and calls eventually.
Michigan had some early enthusiasm, but for the rest of the game, they looked like the Wild against Nashville. They were gassed and made one sloppy play after another. Depth is not their strength, and their defense is average.
I guess that's why they're a bubble team.
Michigan loss puts them outside of the bubble
Now that was a fun game! And we got to met Matt Kowalska. What a genuinely nice man…the line was moving kind of slow but that was because he was really talking to folks. Posing for photos, signing whatever you wanted with your name-Go Gophers- his sig and old #. I told him his tying goal was one of my two favorite Gopher hockey moments. He asked, what’s the other one? I said the ND .6 goal and the crying woman in the green jersey. He laughed out loud and said oh I think that’s #1.
When people tell me I’ll regret not having kids, I say that’s okay I know a really good place to cry. It’s my vacation home.
Nelson, Chesley, and Moore were clear standouts tonight. Tenacious play from all of them.
@mikeeruzione11 they were but a lot of guys came to play...Nevers had a good game, Huglen did, and Lamb had several opportunities around the net. Rinzel also played well, as did the fourth line.
Solid team win.
Postgame--
I was recently informed by a GPLer that I'm related to Airey
Worked out well they gave away free crappy Big 10 hats tonight. 😂
Really impressed with the effort from the boys tonight. Simply put, that’s a championship winning brand of hockey right there.

Agreed on all fronts. I think Lamb had 4 grade A chances
Great game tonight, a sweep tomorrow night would be nice. I really like the way they battled for pucks tonight. I was worried when it was 2-2.
There could be four Big 10 teams in the ncaa tourney this year if Michigan goes deep in the Big 10 tourney. I wouldn't at all be surprised to see these two teams in the championship game for the 3rd year in a row.
-Regarding the brown out, the building was full and who cares otherwise? Opposing fans made a tweet?
-Regarding that Hudson Fasching goal – who doesn’t love a “Good Night Michigan” bed time story?
-On Luke Mitt’s goal, Brodz had one of the more brilliant zone entries I’ve seen for a long time
-However I cannot believe Nelly didn’t called for interference on it
-Clymer can be a goof, but “I hate Clymer” to me is a statement gone too far
-Plus his replay commentary on the 1st Moore goal was pretty good imho
-Despite going the previous 3 games without a point, Moore in 15 games since the break has 19 points
-Dear God next time Bob let Pino take the PS just to melt many brains
-If the Gophers control the game tomorrow Michigan will likely get chippy
-If so the Gophers need to be sure not to respond

this is my worry. I hope we don’t lose anyone to injury tomorrow. Play smart while kicking the crap out of them!

The defender actually played the puck with his hand. Nelly was well within his right to hit him.
So next weekend vs PSU.

I see that now. I will amend my statement to say I can't believe the refs actually got one right. 🤣
GRRRR..Figures they set an afternoon start on the Saturday I have to work.
B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?

Beware Sat may be a shit show. Women's WCHA title game at 2 at Ridder. Though sure doesn't look like we need to worry about the Gophers in that game.
Really like the grit they have played with post Christmas. A lot of experience on this team and the youth is incredibly talented.
If I am Michigan, Naurato is gone. No way that roster shouldn’t make the tourney. It’s better for the Gophers if he stays as there are much better coaches out there and Michigan will always get top 5 talent.

I thought Brodzy was going to get into a scuffle with Brindley in the 3rd. Brindley checked Nevers from behind near the benches and Brodzy came over and cross checked him and slashed him a couple of times. Luckily, nothing came of it. We don't need to lose anyone this time of year to something stupid.

Oh boy was THAT quite the kerfuffle.
It happened right in front of me. And let’s just say that the back and forth for the next minute or so was some of the best I have heard in all my years shooting from in between the benches.

@boninthebear As much as people were disappointed in the Gopher's start and early season, Michigan fans must be on full tilt with all the talent they have and lack of results.
Seems to be their MO, we're just gonna try to out race and out score you, and they can do it --- but lots of undisciplined hockey.
I really did not know what to expect last night coming off the dreaded bye week. Lots of solid play up and down the lineup. Brodzy won the "WTH" award tonight with 3 of those. Huglen really impressed me with his work along the boards. I really thought the team really played well as a 5 man units. Good cycling of the puck as well.
Really happy to see the Farm Kid get the hatty in his last regular season series at home. He now has career high in goals and has a chance to match his point total from last year.
Brodzy has tied his career high in points and has set a new high in assists. Not bad for the line that has taken a lot of criticism this year. I hope they can stay hot the next month.
Huglen and Moore need 1 more goal to reach 10. Then the Gophers would have seven 10+ goal scorers this year. That would match last years total.
I was more hopeful than most about the Maroon out. Well, it was better than the Gold out, but not a success. Time to end it I guess. When the team doesn't partake in it....
Really missed Jamie as the PA. Jamie knows how to get the crowd going by his enthusiasm. Hope he is back tonight.

can’t have that undisciplined of a team. Bunch of high skilled guys with massive egos coupled with guys with poor skill who think they’re hot shit and make stupid plays. They follow their coach’s lead. Was a major head scratcher to me when they hired him and feel like we’re all seeing why he wasn’t on anyone’s list now. If you have a high end skilled player, don’t know if I’d be super pumped to send them to Michigan to take the next step with the product he’s putting out there

Jupe it would be great if you could share some of the best stories from that perch, but perhaps part of the privilege of sitting there is an unwritten rule of not telling stories.
@jupiter - do you know what u-mi did to get the unsportsmanlike minor?

The puke-n-blue seem prime for massive defections after its season ends next week.

A few of the players on the ice for the icing went off and the official got tired of them to come out back on the ice and gave them a unsportsmanlike.

From my vantage point, Brodzinski was jawing with Brindley and Rutger for a good 3 minutes after they both got off ice. That was a cheap hit on Nevers.

It kept going until Motzko told Brodzinski to "be quiet"... Nevers was going strong too.

I have no idea what Ben Gordon was yelling over to the Michigan bench but it looked like he was going to jump over the boards for a hot second. He was POed and veins looked to be popping out of his neck and rightfully so.
