When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.
The Gophers now have a 13 point lead over Ohio State and Penn State who are tied for 2nd place. Ohio State has 8 conference games left while the Gophers and Penn State both have 7 conference games left.
Close is 10th in goals against average and 12th in saves percentage. This is quite impressive when you consider all but 2 of the guys ahead of him have played considerably less minutes with a majority of them playing less than half their teams minutes/games.

This team is really fun to watch, it reminds me of some Gopher teams from 'back in the day'. They have swagger to them like so many Gopher teams did, that D group is so smooth, so calm with the puck. Good times...
The Badgers are now officially eliminated from B1G title contention.
Have to give the red pukes credit for hanging in there, I thought they had been eliminated in November.

The Badgers are only 8 playoff wins away from winning the national title. Which is one less than the number of conference wins they have over the last two seasons. 9 wins in 39 conference games over the last two seasons.
Yeah Closer is often the forgotten man on this team. Which is why I like to post his stats periodically (such as after 3 periods of no goals ? ) through the season to remind people.

Look ahead to this week, can't overlook MSU. They're currently #13 in the PWR and just took 5 points from PSU (#3 in the PWR) before their bye, so even though we beat them up in East Lansing early last month, points probably won't come anywhere near as easily this weekend, especially when we've been playing so many close games since Christmas.
So about that...
We want to consistently bring our A game, so a huge shutout was fun to watch. Keep it going tomorrow.

I was at the Kohl Center for the Stoa goal 6 seconds into the game. It was funny seeing Badgers fans arriving to their seats near us going what happen we are already down a goal? ?

I’d like to see the chemistry that Kurth seemed to have with Huglen & Pitlick tonight, carry over to tomorrow too - hopefully it wasn’t just a one time thing & is here to stay.
Will be interesting to see how MSU plays Sat night. They’ve been fading and chances are it will continue. That was as demoralizing a loss as you’ll see but if they can shake it off and somehow win it would turn their season around and be huge for their pairwise.
