I saw the video on the keyc site and it was a bit longer and showed one of the huge trees nearby falling in not long after the house. Feel bad for the family, that has to be devastating; for everyone losing homes and livelihoods in this mess.
Not sure why but the drone footage from people has stopped since last evening. A few pictures from the viewing area this morning show that water has stopped going through the dam and is only going around the west side breech area now. The big worry is the piers of the bridge on County Rd 9 because of the erosion of the banks of the river. Also I guess they are working to empty the Rapidan Dam Store now for worry that erosion on that west side may keep going and take the store into the river.
Good thing to report though is that river levels just downstream of Rapidan and in Mankato have held steady for the past 12 hours so hopefully they will start to recede like forecasted.

I just saw that as well. Explains the issues happening in those dark shaded areas.

I think I read it was because there was a ground stop from the government to do emergency drone inspections of the dam.
This FB page got some drone footage yesterday afternoon.
Also, river levels are receding in Mankato. The river has dropped 1.5 ft in the last 12 hours. The river monitor near the Rapidan Dam must be damaged because it says that the level has risen 4 ft in the last 24 hours.

Looks like some parts of the metro got dumped on this afternoon.

Got a little drizzle in the Hopkins/Tonka area, but it was brief. I kept looking at the occasional dark cloud that passed over, thinking, "It WANTS to rain..." and then it'd pass. Finally, one cloud decided it would rain down, but nothing major.

I slept through last nights storm I can not believe how many down trees in my area, Lifetime health clubs in St.Louis Park and Plymouth both closed due to power outage.
Aloha!
I was up in Fargo-Moorhead this weekend, at an outdoor fest, and we were watching the weather very closely, as there was a fairly large cell headed our way. It JUST missed us, although the skies got reallllllly dark. As it passed the area, everyone there said, "Welp, the TC area is f*ed."

Holy swamp dew point, Batman. 🥵
This looks like a cool neat feature. 😉

I figured, if you hadn't seen it already, this feature would interest you. It happened to pop to the top of my Twitter feed or I'm sure I would have missed it.

79 dew point is the 2nd highest I can remember. I think we hit 81 about 10-12 years ago.
As we head into the backstretch Blaine opens up a two length lead.

I feel bad for the workers in the booths.
That damn food building is hot and muggy on a normal day due to thousands of people sweating. I couldn't imagine it today.
Next weekend looks great though with dew points in the 40s so, hang in there!
The dew point hit 84° here in Belle Plaine a little while ago. Surrounded by corn and other crops really makes a difference with dew point.

I rarely put away all of my tractors, pickups and ATV's when rain is in the forecast. Today, I put everything in the sheds in preparation of the bad weather heading this way tonight. If it holds together, it could get nasty with all of the moisture in the air.

At 7:10, it was 85 degrees and dry ground.
At 7:40 it's 73, and slightly over 1 inch of rain has fallen.

Quite the weather for the last 3 days... Didn't help that I decided to paint a mural on one of my garage walls Sunday and yesterday evening. Felt like painting in a sauna... lol!!!
Keep your stick on the ice...
My college roommate has a booth at the State Fair in the Coliseum and he's posting pictures of the State Fair grounds. The State Fair is delaying the opening the gates today due to all the damages from last nights storms.
Keep your stick on the ice...
Someone on Twitter made a good point that it isn’t smart of those playing/diving in the State Fair flood waters considering the hundreds of animals and their poop are sharing the same waters.
Get a little E. coli, get the squirts, you'll be good in 2 days.

Moving the discussion to the more appropriate thread, Looks like we should get a Severe Thunderstorm watch over basically the entire western half of the state in an hour or two. Based on that, I would expect a similar watch over the Cities to come into play around 4 or 5.

I can confirm that it is raining in Southwestern Mn now.

And, of course, they just skip ahead to making one big Severe Thunderstorm watch covering a lot of the state, and into WisconSIN. Main threat for the night looks to be a lot of wind. Heavy rain is a bit of a given.Moving the discussion to the more appropriate thread, Looks like we should get a Severe Thunderstorm watch over basically the entire western half of the state in an hour or two. From GPL's guest meteorologist:
Storms are going to be slightly earlier and last a little longer since two lines have developed out west. I think we’ll see the southern storms consolidate some, now I’m thinking it will storm closer to 5:30 and continue through 7:30/8ish

They waited longer than I expected to release the Watch, which kind of had me thinking they were going to make one larger watch, rather than one over the initial area they were looking at, but taking the development from out west into account as the decided what direction to go. Very much a dynamic situation keeping an eye on the details of what's going on out there. From GPL's guest meteorologist:

Tornado up near Isanti. Watching the radar, it's looking like this one might be anti-cyclonic (or, I could easily be misinterpreting what I see). The area of movement toward the radar site seems to be on the wrong side of where the report is. Mostly farmland in the area, so hopefully nobody injured, but definitely interested to see what happened here.

About 4:30 the wind here really started to howl and surprisingly it was blowing from the east-southeast. About five minutes later FOX9 was reporting a radar indicated tornado at 4:31 in the East Bethel/Ham Lake/Oak Grove area. I'm about 20 miles straight east of there in Chisago City, near the south shore of the main basin of Green Lake if you're following along on your map at home. It was very interesting and I'd guess the events were related.

Almost certainly the same part of the storm that produced the tornado by Isanti, yes. You likely experienced some of the inflow that fed that cell.Tornado up near Isanti. 494/Carlson Parkway with that first wave, rain was falling sideways, and it was torrential. Various weather sites predicted a second wave around 7pm, and...big, fat nothingburger. Absolutely zero rain after 6:45ish in the Hopkins area.
Did hear from a friend in Elk Mound WI (KFAN fans know that as the home of Carl Gerbschmidt; yes, it's a real town) got NAILED with that "second wave."

I have no idea if what I saw was recent footage or not, but I saw an IG post showing GD Oakdale GC getting pummeled with hail including at least one green getting destroyed.

Yesterday... Labor Day... Might've been one of the most perfect summer days.
Keep your stick on the ice...
It's been a full-on rainy season here with no holding back. Luckily all typoons have brought nothing but rain and at times slightly cooler temps. Thank goodness our house is elevated.
The turtle hatchings around the area (apparently there is a lady that keeps track, from some organization) didn't hatch. 🙁 Guessing too wet and they just didn't happen or they drowned. 🙁
