Really foggy in spots on the way home from Back Channel, as in "thankfully there's a car ahead of me, so I can follow those tail lights."

Full blown July T-Storm by Ridgedale. In December. This is messed up.

Round 1 came thru here about an hour ago. We are getting round 2 now. Thunder, lightning heavy rain. Only in Mn do we get more rain in December than we did in July. Supposed to turn to snow for a bit once the front goes thru when the wind really picks up. Lost power for about 5 minutes.

I was recently informed by a GPLer that I'm related to Airey

My daughter and I were watching it as we drove to her swimming lesson tonight in MG. By far the most impressive one of the year and it’s December

The wind is howling down here in AV. We have a temporary tarp shed up next to the house. I hope it’s still here tomorrow! The temp has been plummeting too. Heat finally kicked on.

Can’t wait to slide to work in the AM, thankfully I don’t have to be in til noon so I’ll look forward to hearing about the road conditions from those who have to venture out earlier! Good luck!

The cover on my canopy on my deck didn't make it overnight, ripped to shreds where it was connected to the frame. Really glad all my trees made it. The wind was howling around midnight so much it woke me up.

I was pretty shocked we didn't have a layer of ice on all the roads this morning. Pretty easy drive for me today.

My trash bin was at the end of the drive (Thursday trash day) way tipped, but all the trash was still in the bin. My recycling bin was blown from the garage, all the way to end of the driveway. And to top it off, the bbq was blown over tearing the brand new bbq cover. Walked around the house to see if I can see and structural damage. Nothing so far.

Could have been A LOT worse cause I laid in bed all hearing that wind. If this storm was in the summer it could’ve been a lot worse. The ground is somewhat frozen helping trees from being uprooted.

Keep your stick on the ice...

Out here in the sticks, the rain turned to sleet and then snow. All of the roads down here are sheets of ice and the wind is still blowing.

I don't know if the storm broke up as it got to my neck of the Twin Cities or what, but thankfully we barely felt anything in the east metro. Never had any wind stronger than about 25mph last night.

Me neighbors have a trampoline with the net surround- to keep kids from bouncing off. They also have a love seat sized outdoor glider with a fabric canopy. Both appear in tact and in the normal position.

They must have the trampoline strapped into the ground fairly well because I assumed it would be reported as a UFO somewhere over East Bethel.

I think the wind dried things up before the snow. It was raining here and almost freezing at 1 am. Our garbage can tipped over which sounded like thunder in the middle of the night, but that was about it thankfully.

Coming down heavy in the Ridgedale area. This morning I heard 1 inch, but by about 3pm I was hearing 3-5 inches. I have no idea what to expect.

It stayed warm enough down here in Mankato that ice really hasn't taken hold...yet. Falling temps may make it interesting later today in spots but the DOT and City of Mankato are out treating the roads pretty well right now.

We are up at my in laws in Grant County north of Alex. They pulled the plows and no travel advised. Family said 94 closed between Fargo and Grand Forks.

We were supposed to head back today. How bad are the roads from Alex to Western suburb? Haven’t seen much about the snow or conditions in like Plymouth.

Hit the MN511 web site.

I literally lost my parked car during a prairie blizzard when I hunkered down with teammates in their rented mobile home on the edge of town.

The drift had totally enveloped my sweet '65 Goat.

Our back deck is just pure glazed ice! It is an accident waiting to happen when one of us needs to get to the garage.

We received about 1/2" of snow, sealed with a shiny glaze. Clearing the sidewalk and deck was pretty easy. I'll do the 150 foot driveway after round 2 tomorrow.

Yikes the drive on the roads to 94 and there highway until about Melrose was shear ice and did the go more than 30-40 the whole way until then.

Came home to some snow and icing on top and made for fun snowblowing with the wind and ice chunks.

Roads were slippery all day in the Plymouth/Minnetonka area. Apparently, more to come tomorrow. A positive: roads were dead. I think many took this week off from work.

We drove to the Zoo and then Hastings yesterday. I was actually surprised how good the roads were at 8:30 or 9:00am with the exception of 169 going through Minnetonka and Hopkins. It certainly helped that there wasn’t traffic but I expected to have to drive fairly slow.

I can only imagine what NW Minnesota was like on I-94. I’ve been caught in blizzards before on I-90 and that had to be comparable

It was crazy yesterday morning. Shoveling my front steps and walk. The snow and glazed ice would slide each time I tossed a scoops worth on the glazed over snow.

And I get to work, the parking lot was a dangerous sheet of ice. It was even dangerous 8 hrs. later when I left work.

Roads a little bad tonight. Watching 494 in Plymouth throughout the day, many slowdowns due to either ditches or rear-enders, judging by the position of the tow-trucks and cop cars. ;) Yeah, it was a slow day at work.

Massive fire in Boulder County CO today. It started as a brush fire but was pushed along by strong winds (100+ mph gusts) into the towns of Superior and Louisville so far. (combined populations of ~35,000).

There are at least two other brush fires ongoing in Boulder County too, but since they don't threaten neighborhoods they're not getting resources.

No snow, no rain for months, high winds, warm temps...

On the scanners, incident control basically just told people to stop reporting spot fires (like houses), there are too many. Just concentrate on evacuating people.

I have to, but from a Marc Maron special:

Our state is on fire right now. It’s on fire all the time. Every year, California is on fire to the point where it’s just the way it is. Two weeks ago, my friend Lynn said, “Aren’t the fires a little late this year?” How is that something you say… like it’s a season? It kinda is a season. Once a year, if you live in California, you’re like, “Ah, f*, there are ants and sh*’s burning. Must be summer.” So they are late this year. And it’s crazy, man. We just kinda live with it and they’re worse and worse, and, you know, like, you get those panicky calls from friends and relatives on the East Coast. Like, my mother will call from Florida. “Hi, are you okay?” “Yeah. What are you talking about?” “The fires.” “Oh, sh*, yeah. They’re not by me. Um…” [audience cheering] “Did– Did they… Did they say where they are on the news where you are? Where? Oh, sh*, that is kinda by me. Hold on a second, I’m gonna take a look out my front door here. Oh, sh*, Ma. I gotta call you back, I… I can see the fires. They’re, like, right here. Yeah, I gotta call you back, I gotta get a selfie with these fires. Fire’s getting close. Hashtag ouchie. Hashtag end times. Hashtag Los Angeles 2019!”

I have a cold and the wind chill is -6 so I don’t want to clear my driveway more than once. But the damn snow won’t stop failing. We are JUST on the edge of the snow but the storm is stationary. We have been on the edge for hours. This system needs to GTFO and sit in Wisconsin.

I did mine over lunch and the wind is definitely fierce.
