Correct. Now, the “S” on Jughead’s? That’s one of the best-kept secrets in the series. Never explained. There are a lot of guesses, but nothing concrete. My guess is they just wanted something that made it very easy to tell them apart in black and white strips.

The "J" middle initial for Rocky & Bullwinkle are usually attributed to this genius - Jay Ward their creator.  It's also believed the  Phillip, Homer and Bart have J initials as a nod to the great Jay Ward.
