Okra🤢

I make gumbo a couple times a year and no longer add okra.  Whenever I did find fresh (sorta fresh??) in a store it didn't seem to add anything other than slime.  I will stick with filé powder.  One of the first times I made gumbo I made the mistake of adding frozen okra, HUGE mistake.

Filé powder is definitely the way to go.  Get the thickening power of that okra slime... but, without the okra slime.

Correction Corner
Thank you to Reader Roger, who wrote in to let us know that Ann Sothern was nominated for “Best Supporting Actress” for her role in the 1987 film “The Whales of August.” That makes “The Whales of August” an acceptable answer for last week’s Theme Thursday question about Oscar-nominated movies with the word “whale” in the title. Trivia Mafia regrets the error. Go ahead and give yourself a bonus point if you got “The Whales of August” last Thursday!

I had no idea they were the same thing. I've had Mars bars here and I like them, but I never really enjoyed a Milky Way. I wonder if there are some differences in the ingredients?

Just found a few vids on YT where people blind compare them and in both they said they said they thought the two were very similar but chewed differently and the Mars bar was preferred. Small sample size of course.
