I have a wireless mouse that fits perfectly in a pocket of my laptop backpack. It hardly requires 'hauling'. 🤣
Edit: I think the smaller of my power-banks is lighter than my wireless mouse. To say nothing of the big power-bank I have that's heavier than my Surface tablet.

I can't control my hands enough to make small moves with the touchpad. I'm Team Mouse User here. Doesn't bother me at all to "haul" my mouse when I actually haul my laptop out of the office a couple times a year.

I used to love pads...but they are terrible now. Wireless mice are so much better, though I currently don't have one 🙁
That is a great prank though! 🤣Having the hotel you are staying at call you at 3 am and saying the airport shuttle bus is waiting for you... I did NOT sign up for the shuttle bus....
Years ago I was in Memphis for business and had a long, fun night. I was very, very intoxicated and sitting on the toilet at 4 am when alarms start going off and someone is begins making statements over a speaker. I couldn't understand the message through the doors so I rush over to the door, bare assed, to hear them saying this is not a drill and people need to evacuate immediately. OMG. I had to finish my...#2, get dressed and rush down 17 flights of stairs to avoid death. As soon as I reach the lobby, they gave the all clear, but tell us the elevators will be down for at least an hour. I could not have been more upset or miserable. Since there was no way I was going to climb 17 flights of stairs, I wandered over to the restaurant across the street for coffee and breakfast.
And there’s a special place in hell for hotel guests who think it’s hilarious to set the room clock alarm to go off at 3am. I’ve been jolted awake, no 🤬 idea how to turn it off so I’ve ripped the cord out of the wall. Now I automatically unplug the radio when I enter the room.
Note: Due to inflation dirty deeds will no longer be done dirt cheap.
I usually unplug them just to get rid of the light from it.And there’s a special place in hell for hotel guests who think it’s hilarious to set the room clock alarm to go off at 3am. Meanwhile, my actual computer mouse works just fine. The old-timer FTW! 😉
My dude, we had a laptop when I was a child that had a joystick and buttons. Pretty sure joysticks and trackpads are old school at this point

I switch between mouse, joystick, and touchpad pretty smoothly. But I can't switch to touchpad without physical buttons. Just infuriating.
Then there's the laptop. They got rid of discrete buttons for the touchpad and the joystick on the keyboard. Look, I get ditching the joystick in some respects. I still preferred it. But the discrete buttons I can't forgive. It's terrible. Trying to click and drag requires acts I've only seen at cirque du soleil. I have to play hand twister to move a file. And there's no middle click anymore. This is decades of muscle memory I'm going to have to erase.
harrumph I say.
This is why I hate the 3M ZBook PC's... The trackpads are just god awful compared to MacBooks. So having the MacBook is very nice. But to be honest, since I work at home... I like that both machines will plug in to my monitor with one cable that does video and powers the machine.
This latest version has had an issue with the latest dock. Bad enough that I had to call IT. Turns out that there may be a bad motherboard on all the new Zbooks the DisplayPort and maybe even the PCI circuits are all borked. Part of me wonders if they're getting starved for voltage as the system gets stressed. My monitors turn off and on for about five seconds in tandem on the display port and the HDMI monitor gets borked every so often too.
Normally the zbooks are rock solid. This gen is terrible. I blame it on the fact that we went AMD instead of Intel. I have never had an AMD but I'm much less a fan of it than Intel. It just doesn't feel as snappy. Plus the driver updates are setup very weird.
Driving to the game on Friday I took a rock or something to the windshield. Left just a little crack. Maybe an inch. Driving home I hit a bump and that crack became about a foot long. A little while later on the freeway it extended to about 75% of my windshield. Thankfully I have glass coverage on my insurance, but that escalated quickly.

I always chuckle when it's cold in the negatives. I always have to correct people, especially on other social media sites that wind chill has no effect on non-living things. If it's -20° and windchill makes it feel like -45°, it's still -20° for non-living things. The wind might make pipes cool faster, but it won't make water freeze faster.
Keep your stick on the ice...
It will make things cool quicker/freeze faster as the wind strips the heat away faster. It just doesn’t get any colder than air temp.
Cool faster yes, but wont freeze faster. Only will start to freeze sooner cause the heat was stripped somewhat sooner. Like the same two bodies of water. One it’s -20° the other is -20° with -45° windchill. Both bodies of water will freeze at the same pace.

You're trying to compare apples and oranges. But that's ok. I know what you're getting at, and you are correct. And I'm correct as well.

Theoretically, it can subcool below ambient temp via evaporative cooling.
pretty limited effect and only while there's something to evaporate
It's f*ing cold out. This is like watching the Major League debate on if the ball is too high or too hard...

Just wait until we get into the difference between temperature and thermal energy.
That is the point of the whole scene. Hence the "freezing faster" or whatever, hey, it's still cold as f*. 😉

That scene always cracks me up (I am laughing right now). The best part is when the fan says "Who gives a s**t it's gone)" 🤣
There's so many one-liners in Major League, that clip included.
"How's your wife with my kids?" and "Looked like a strike anyways" are great throw away lines.

What fun would it be if we can't argue that my dad can beat up your dad.

It was only a matter of time that an opposing player would get hurt by fans rushing the court. I know we all hate Iowa, but I hope Clark didn't get seriously injured here.
Edit-- It appears she will be ok and avoided injury.

Hawkeye and Anti-Hawkeye Twitter was having a field day with this. Some Hawk fans had Caitlin near death after the collision, the anti wanted to penalize Caitlin for embellishment. Some early posts on this had the fan seeking out Caitlin to knock her down, that is clearly not the case.
To me it is on both people because neither one was paying attention to where they were headed. The lady clearly was running with her phone up and was not looking where she was going at all. Caitlin, for being the best women's college basketball player in the nation, had her head in the clouds or something and couldn't/didn't juke the lady.
The post game presser Coach Bluder said she mainly lost her breath by the collision and will be fine.

Not sure but I presume Caitlin will see a lot more of the "crazy lady with cell phone" defense in coming games.

Curious, has the idiot issued even a lame attempt at an apology yet? If I accidentally ran into someone on the street I’d immediately apologize and offer to help them up. This person just looked down briefly then kept on their merry way.
Horrendous human behavior imho. Especially when you were somewhere you shouldn’t be.

But I am completely bored with Hockey Day Minnesota. Even when I still had FSN/Bally I had stopped watching it. It just doesn't do anything for me anymore. I have become a curmudgeon. I full admit that.
Do not like how this board is run?

Have to agree. The first few years were pretty cool, then, it just didn't do it any more. Same with the outdoor games. Cool to start with, then got overplayed.

I think it's still a pretty big deal for the communities that host it, especially the kids, but I also don’t get all that excited for it anymore. This doesn't really Stick in my Craw...

Having said that, I'm sure it will still be on the TV all day long at my house.
After hearing the leaps and bounds some cities have to go through to host it and get fit with the bill, I’ve turned on it as well. If I happen to turn it on, I’ll watch a bit. Otherwise it’s not appointment TV.
If I were able to watch I would definitely turn it on a few times during the day.

Honestly I only ever watched the Gopher game anyways...I thought it was rather contrived and just another way they tried to push the BS marketing gimmick that is "The State of Hockey".
It is not as annoying as the stupid NHL outdoor game BS though...Winter Classic my rosy red ***.

Pretty much this.
As for the Winter Classic, maybe make it every other year, or every 5 years...make it special.

Meh. I find it fun enough. It is usually on for most of the day, but I’m not really paying close attention the entire time. Never was.
I will speak from the point of view of the community that hosts it. When Mankato hosted it it was a week long celebration of all things hockey. Every person that was a part of the committee that ran it loved the experience, but it is a once in a lifetime deal because it is all consuming. Even with the less than ideal weather conditions Mankato was still an awesome experience.
Now, that said it is not the cash cow that some thought it would be. Many in the community thought that they would clear a cool $1M and it was roughly $500k which is still very good. The thought though was it would be a kickoff to raising funds for a new rink in town. So that bubble was popped but the youth hockey association received a good donation and I believe each high school programs received donations. So it wasn't all for naught but again it wasn't the windfall some had hoped.
As for watching it on tv I gave up watching it probably after year three. It is just not interesting to watch on tv anymore.

The frustrating thing to me is that the dollar amounts needed to host it put it completely out of reach for pretty much anyone outside of the metro or the big/traditional hockey towns in greater MN (or those with prominent boosters).
There is zero chance a Northfield or New Prague or Dodge County or Willmar or Chisago or Litchfield could host it because of the money prerequsites, and there is a good argument to be made that doing so in those places is where you really grow the game. Sure those places aren't traditional hockey locations, but that they have hockey at all shows off some real stories and is a testament to the game itself. I don't have a problem with celebrating Eveleth and Warroad and the rich history they have; but showing that the game is alive and well in Fairmont too is where we can really see how more can be included-- and that others can join in on the fun.

Absolutely...I didn't comment on the fact without major...MAJOR donations from local people and businesses alike this would have never happened in Mankato. My bosses donated a LOT of time and money and equipment to help pull it off.
I did do some interweb sleuthing and it turns out that Hockey Day Mankato netted $550k. They donated $99k to MSU hockey programs and then stuck $450k into the local area foundation where they award grants to local hockey programs. Just this week they awarded the local high school co-ed adapted floor hockey team $6k. I'm not convinced that was the best use of all that money but I'm not in the hockey circles to really have a say.

I think just breaking even at a worst case scenario isn't a horrible thing. It feels like in some regards the opinion towards the event is out of scope with the overall positives.
Short of "raking in loads of cash" it's simply a fun event that brings a lot of people together to celebrate a sport many of us care passionately about. Hopefully it draws attention the local community that hosts, even better it inspires more locals to think about hockey instead of just basketball, football and wrestling, and finally that people have a good time.
This might be an apples to oranges comparison, but does the pond hockey tournament every year take in a huge windfall of cash? I wouldn't think so and I hope that's not envisioned as the primary reason for it to exist outside of those that would seek to benefit from said profits.
I would love to see HDM expand to the southern parts of MN as well. Marshall, Luverne or even Austin. As others have said, it takes some big money sponsors to aid in that. Schwans is no longer locally owned in Marshall, so I don't know where the money would come from. Maybe Hormel could sponsor the one in Austin.
I used to watch HDM from start to finish. If I was in the Cities for the Gopher game, we would find a bar and watch it until having to go to the game. I will now peek in and out of it, as my interest in it has wained. Still glad they have it and I'm sure the communities that host it have a blast doing it.
