So i've posted before that I collect antique Christmas ornaments and belong to an international collectors group. Today the hot topic on our FB page is the news story on the Grandma in England who was just awarded the Guiness World Record for most Christmas ornaments....1760. We are all flummoxed and laughing as I could name a dozen friends with more ornaments then that. I HAVE MORE ORNAMENTS THEN THAT! I currently have close to 2000 on a 9 ft tree and that's about 2/3 of my collection. Guiness certainly did not do any sort of due diligence on this one. Sounds like a sweet old lady said OOOOOH I have lots of ornaments and they just said OK.

A very petty gripe, very Grinchy. We're all laughing and plotting on bombarding Guiness with photos of all our collections. :biggrin2: That old lady's going down.

There is a local guy Mike Marcotte who is a Guinness Book adjudicator. You can reach out to him at his website.

P.S Don't get me started on the Guinness Book. Up until a couple years ago I had every paperback Guinness Book from 1976. I was a HUGE fan of the Guinness Book. About 10 years ago they started to venture off into records that were too gimmicky. I miss the days of old of fattest man, tallest man, and of course the largest ball of twine. Evil

There was no line at the time we went. My son did it faster than me. It messes with your head when you first take the tube out of the package and think about having to fill it up. Then you realize that it's only about half as much when you look at the bottom of the tube.

My wife would have to go to the clinic for the PCR because she can't spit or gags whenever she hears or see's someone spit.

Again, that little blondey was prepared for her test...it was kind of impressive.

When my 10 year old had COVID, I sat with him at a table twice for an hour each to help him with school and I didn't get infected. This was Nov 2020, before vaccines were available and we were not wearing masks. This was before Delta and Omicron so things have changed, but the time of exposure doesn't sound prolonged.

You didn’t have symptoms, or you tested to know you truly weren’t infected?!

I was exposed several weeks ago. Even shared a taster of beer with the person who subsequently tested positive (we were all fully vaxxed and asymptomatic at the time but it was two days after we were together their symptoms began). I never developed symptoms or tested positive.

I developed cold symptoms on vacation last weekend and feared the worst. But two negative rapid tests and a negative PCR later it’s truly just a cold.

Anyone ever done those home test kits? It’s amazing how long 15 seconds takes when you’re rolling a swab around up your nose (and you have to do this both sides!), it’s a great way to induce repetitive sneezing too! LoL

I just had Covid last week and both my wife and son have tested negative multiple times. My symptoms started with sinus congestion that I treated that way and I got better for a couple days and then I got hit with body aches for a couple days. I did the spit test when my body aches started. My wife brought home a handful of rapid tests from her work for her and my son. Now my son has developed cold symptoms this week and has tested negative twice with rapid tests and I took him in for a spit test which was negative so he luckily just has a bad cold. Which he gets a bad cold every winter about this time.

My son isn't a fan of the rapid test with the swab up the nose. He can't do it himself so I did the pleasure and I have to watch out for him swinging if I go to long. He would agree that 15 seconds takes a long time. Now when I took him in for his spit test we were both amazed by this little blonde girl that came in after us. She had her test done and out of there in half the time it took my son...we both laughed about that.

My back pain has reached the intolerable stage. Last week I went to St Cloud Orthopedics. Dr said since it's been a few years we should do a new MRI of the lumbar spine and SI joints, then he'll call me with the results. I go to radiology. The tech says "So today we're doing an MRI of the lumbar spine. Is that correct?" I tell her the Dr wants the SI joints too. She says "Yeah, we'll get that too."

Today, a week later, Radiology calls and tells me they have to redo the MRI because they didn't know they were supposed to do the SI joints. :censored:

So tomorrow I have to drive 190 miles to St Cloud and back cause someone effed up! GD it!

You should ask if they’ll do a referral to get it done locally since they screwed up.

Sorry to hear about your back pain. I find it to be a grumbling nuisance as I get older and it certainly can ruin your day. Hope you get some answers, and some relief!

And no, I wasn't bored because "I didn't get the jokes"... I GOT the jokes, and just didn't find them funny.

Have you tried watching Curb Your Enthusiasm? I only ask because I couldn’t watch Seinfeld either, but I find Curb pretty funny.

I never got the Seinfeld craze, as well as the Friends. SNL and Dave Letterman. I guess I’m boring when I say my shows are/were Wonder Years, Roseanne, King of Queens and Everyone Loves Raymond. I’ll watch these shows when they are on.

Ditto on Seinfeld, Friends, and Letterman. SNL was good in the early years, but went downhill after Belushi, Akroyd, Radner, Curtain, and Murray left.

There’s a difference between critical acclaim and selling a lot via top notch marketing. Seinfeld was certainly influential if nothing else which is why it gets and deserves a lot of the praise it gets, even if it’s not everyone’s cup of tea.

Seinfeld is not good to me. I don’t find Jerry funny much, Julia is bitchy (that may be because of Christmas Vacation), George is a whiny baby, but I did find Kramer a little funny.

Liked Friends, King of Queens, Drew Carey, but not Everyone Loves Raymond. Didn’t like Ray Romano until I watched him in Parenthood.

SNL is 100% generational and anyone who says different is just wrong.

Also, most cartoons I can’t stand. The ones that played on Saturday mornings were good. The rest were “meh” for the most part. I refuse to let my kids watch SpongeBob and I have never watched the Simpsons other than here or there. Same with Beavis and Butthead. I don’t find South Park funny either. I know I am a curmudgeon about it, I just don’t feel like cartoons for adults is good.

I’m a dry rub over sauce on wings. If I do go with sauce, it’s lite sauce. I want to enjoy the wings and have to take a shower after. And I like them with some heat, but not a fan of wings that melt my nostril hairs.

I’m still frustrated over my brand new grill cover getting a tear when the wind blow my grill over. I should go out and see if my grill still starts up, cause when the wind blew it over, it knocked all parts inside the grill loose.

I am not a sauce person on most meats that are prepared properly, except wings. There have only ever been 2 dry rubs that I have ever enjoyed in wings, one is Desert Heat from BWW, dipped in blue cheese and it has a taco flavor to me. The other one was a ranch seasoning, don’t recall the name, from Serum’s when I first started working for Home Depot almost 21 years ago now. That place has always stuck with me from that first out of town meeting I had.

I never used to feel flats were better than drummies until I learned how to split the flats or make lollipops with them and now they are all I prefer.

When we have our daughter, her husband, and their just-turned-two-year-old toddler over for special occasions I'm the designated cook for brunch for everyone. This morning it was:

Fruit Dish (sliced oranges, raspberries, blueberries and strawberries)

Bacon halves

Sausage patties

Hash browns

French toast (made with cinnamon bread)

Beverages (coffee, orange juice, milk)

I've finally reached the point where I can half everything ready to eat (and warm/hot) at the same time!

So I guess I put this in the wrong thread! :biggrin2:

I do prefer dry rub, but given the novelty of Smalley's wings, I was conceding.

My wife's booster shot ruined her Christmas. She felt like crap all day Friday and Saturday. Christmas is her favorite holiday too. She knows that she could have picked a different day to get it other than last Thursday but if you worked for Head Start right now you would know about how that is going and well. The positive is that it is done before we see her parents soon.

Does absolutely nothing for me. I even just blocked the word “Festivus” on Twitter so I don’t have to see posts with it.
