LTD Brewing can only play MPR (licensing fees). MPR is doing 3 song blocks of artists. I walked in today, and the blocks were Sex Pistols, Bowie, Ramones, and the Cure. That's a win. And they played some non-radio hits. Bonus.

Troy Gentry, of the duo Montgomery Gentry, died yesterday in a helicopter crash - 50 years old.

Grant Hart dead at 56. This is a bummer, man.
Damn
Three of my favorite Grant Hart songs. RIP
Heard this on The Current (89.3, public radio) the other day. I love it:

Not good news on Tom Petty,
Not good news on Tom Petty,
TMZ just reported that he was found unconscious and when he got to the hospital he had no brain activity. Evidently the decision was made to remove him from life support.

Tom Petty won't be comin round here no more.
Sad ?
LAPD stating it can’t clarify Tom Petty’s death.
Keep your stick on the ice...
It appears he was stood up at the gates of Hell but he wouldn't back down. Hang in there.
I'll be honest: he's done. It sucks, but it's over. Just a matter of time.

Huge Petty fan. Some of the greatest rock songs ever. I've watched and listened to his box DVD set of "Runnin Down A Dream" many dozens of times, especially the extremely well done disc that documents the history of him and the band going back to their start in Gainsville, FL. If you're a fan and don't have this, pick it up while you can.

Pretty much. The brain has an extremely short shelf life when its supply of oxygen is cut off.

I’ll agree. I’ll almost bet they’ll keep him on life support tell the family can come and say their good-byes.
I thought he was dead until I was at OC tonight and some patron at the rail told me the news jumped the gun.
Keep your stick on the ice...
Every report I heard (mostly based on TMZ's reports) were that he was gone. I got home, and it was "hold it...."

Two things come to mind with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. First my sister playing "Damn the Torpedoes" damn near on a loop on her record player...yes, on vinyl on her record player. Second was his involvement in the Traveling Wilbury's. My Mom left her Vol. 1 tape in her car so that everytime she was in her car that tape was playing for what seemed like a year.

My favorite Petty tune was always 'Refugee'... if for no other reason that my roommate and I both had girlfriends who matched that description. When we heard the song for the first time we looked at each other and laughed.
Guy was a great talent and will be missed.
RIP
That's some serious talent on stage for My Back Pages.

I'm certain you have heard them on the radio recently....this is not what I was expecting to see. I chose this live video just because it shows they are for real.

The 70's called. They want their clothes, hair and music back.
"Holding On" off of their recent album "A Deeper Understanding". Saw them in concert last week at the Palace Theater in St. Paul. Great show. :dup:

A poor man's version of Humble Pie. Not nearly as good as the real thing.
This musical treasure! Steve Perry and Kenny Loggins.....it doesn't get much better than this!
R.I.P. Malcom
B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?
Damn. One of my favorites and imho very underrated as a musician and a band.
Sad to see this. It might have been a blessing for him though. Dementia is horrible. Have a drink on me with Bon now.

The Current. When they first started, it was standard "we're cool because we're playing stuff you never heard of." I think they've grown for the better.
For T-Day, starting at 8am today, they play an hour of music from a certain year, 8am, they started at 1980. I find I listen to this station more than any other these days.
