Well that was definitely something. They opened with The Grudge, which I have never heard them play live. Disappointed they didn't play Sober or Vicarious. The intermission with a countdown clock was very weird. Especially after they played a drum solo and two songs afterwards.

I'd never heard third eye live, and I've seen then 5 other times.

We definitely got shorted a song on the encore... Something strange must've happened.

Third eye I've never heard in the four shows I've seen them but the encore did seem to get cut short.

I have seen Tool 4 other times at Xcel (2001, 2002, 2007, 2010) and once at Target Center (2006) so its been awhile since I've been to a big venue. This is the first time I have seen chairs on the floor though... Is that Tool or Xcel do you think? And why? Stop the mosh pits?

I also loved security last night. Many of the concerts I have gone to lately (First Ave, Myth, etc.) have been partially ruined by people around me holding up phones and ipads to record entire songs and take pictures during the concert. Last night, anyone (around me anyway) who had their phone up for more than a quick moment got a flashlight waved in their face. Within 2-3 songs people, for the most part, stopped trying. It was a nice reprieve from the constant flashes and lit up screens from other concerts. I know it is Tool's policy, but it never really seemed to be enforced in the past. Is this also going on at other concerts? Or did they just finally enforce Tool's policy?

Security was really tight last night, a buddy of mine was walking out and security told him they cut the encore short because of all the cell phone videos, but who knows. Also, I've never seen that many K9 dogs roaming around the concourse before.

From what little I know, it does depend on the band. Some are very strict in the cellphone policies, some are not.

Tool show was awesome. I was amazed at how few people I saw on their phones, but I never saw security saying anything to anyone. I was in the center of a section so who knows. I didn't see any dogs in the concourse and if there were it certainly wasn't to try to keep people from smoking weed cause the air was ripe with the chronic.

Pretty sure Maynard is working on, maybe even completed, the next A Perfect Circle album so maybe after that but I imagine he will do another Puscifer album before another Tool album.

The fifth Tool album is this decades Chinese democracy, IIRC Tool has had some major legal battles with record label so maybe that's why its taken longer than the typical five years between Tool albums.

That was most of it. Supposedly they are somewhere in the neighborhood of being close to being close to being done.

This local band called Cold Kingdom was in studio on the Power Trip last week. They had spent a bunch of time recently touring with Shinedown as the opener. They played a couple bits and pieces of some of their songs and I liked what I heard so I went on YouTube and binge watched a handful of their songs.

Their lead singer is phenomenal. Her voice is so good. Definitely a band I'd like to hear more from. If you're a fan of rock music, I'd recommend checking them out.

Ended up at a local fest put on by the brewery near me, Pink Floyd tribute band.....and holy crap are they good. Run Like Hell is the name. I was ready to rip anything wrong they did and.......nope, not a single criticism. And they played stuff like "Great Gig In The Sky" and "Pigs." Afterwards, talked with some of the band....it was only their 4th show, and their first outside show. My jaw dropped. That good, not kidding.

There were certain parts, where the backup vocal should kick in on an off-beat......yep, boom. Oh, here's that one note that has a littttttttle bit of echo, but not quite....boom. Oh here's where the bass does this.....sh*, nailed that too. I was in full troll mode, and nope. I couldn't. I really couldn't. And now I will be listening to Floyd for the next week.

While she didn't sing on this song, obviously, the keyboardist to the right on the vid is opera-trained. She's the one that nailed Great Gig (learned about the opera bit after the show, talking with the band).

Growing up mid 90s I loved The Toadies. Really liked the song Tyler, just read the lyrics, pretty disturbing, anyone a Toadies expert who knows if this is based off a real stalker situation or something worse?

Just a heads up, despite containing zero swearing the last verse especially should make ones skin crawl, I just can't believe I used to listen to this at like 14yrs old not realizing what I was listening to.

In a somewhat similar vein from that period:

For the Billie Joel concert at Target Field, sections F1 - F7 are on the field in front of the stage. Sections F8 - F13 are behind the former. Does anyone know if 8-13 are on any sort of little platform?

Just wondering if It would be difficult to see the stage?

I don't think that was meant as an attack at you (or anyone else in particular). I see what he's saying (I think).

They have been hyped as sounding like LZ by everyone who talks about them.

Correct. EVERY time I hear this band, a Led reference is made. I didn't mean it to sound as an attack.

But if a local act sounds kind of , sort of like Pink Floyd it's the most coolest thing evah. :ahhh:

Great bio... great artist. Will be missed. Wichita Lineman and Galveston will always be the two song I think about when I remember him. Powerful songs not just tunes. Galveston was written by Jimmy Webb (prolific song writer back in the day) but without Campbell nailing it would never been popular. Wichita Lineman is an icon.
