Don't really have a thread here where the following makes sense, but picked up the following book while randomly browsing (re: killing time) in a bookstore. Fascinating read into the details that I hadn't really heard before. Raekwon is pretty honest, brutal, and blunt about his viewpoint of the overall story. The way it reads, it seems like he dictated it to a ghost writer or something. Either way, it's real. I appreciated that.

Lumber Jack Days
my favorite local band The Suburbs playing 7-15-23 9:30-11pm, I love seeing this band outdoors ?
just found out driving there on 36 going east will be a single lane due to construction, and after the show 36 going west will be closed due to construction the alternate drive west looks very strange I might not be going
Aloha!
There's a half dozen easy ways to get into Stillwater without having to use 36.Lumber Jack Days

Where are you coming from?
Get to 94 east anyway you like. Take 94 east to highway 95 south(exit is right before the St. Croix river). Take Highway 95 south for probably 7-8 miles (through the town of Bayport) and highway 95 literally turns into main street downtown Stillwater.Minnetonka
94 has it's own construction hassles at the moment, but probably shouldn't be too bad on a saturday evening.
Aloha!
Just heard classic Bob Dylan Tangled up in Blues live

A pretty cool documentary about a band I had not heard of until about a year ago by chance on Spotify. They had 2 Top 40 hits but unfortunately didn't break out to huge success. A lot of cool commentary from some very notable musicians in it. And sharing a video of a really great song by them.
My wife and I saw them on an episode of "The Midnight Special" a couple days ago, which originally aired April 13, 1973. Neither of us had heard of them before, but we agreed they had an excellent sound. Guess the rock world wasn't ready for an all-women band yet.A pretty cool documentary about a band I had not heard of until about a year ago by chance on Spotify. Fanny was good. Led to the success of the Runaways, which led to the Go-Gos, Bangles, and individual artists when they broke off.

Went to summerfest last night at target field. Top three concert of my life and it could easily be argued as best.
I was super disappointed with the turnout 17,000 tickets sold for five hours of music, including three acts that could easily headline.
We missed the opener, but what music we did hear was decent. Cannons played next and I've heard them a bunch on XM, good stuff overall.
Death Cab was amazing. Played a good mix of old and new. Great stage presence given how hot and stale it was and given the poor turnout. I've always been a fan as has my wife. But neither of us had seen them live. Will 100% buy tickets next time around (hopefully there is one!)
then came probably something I didn't deserve to see. I've always enjoyed The Flaming Lips but never been what I'd call a devoted fan. I've heard the hits but never listened to albums straight through.
I come to find out this morning they just played Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots straight through as their set. It was amazing and the stage presence was near the top of any act I've ever seen live. suffice it to say I'm a fan now.
I just can't shake the feeling like I screwed up and saw some extremely rare celestial event that I'll never see again and said "wow cool" only to realize what I just saw after the fact. Man...
The Killers were also a first for me. I've loved their music since Hot Fuss way back when. I played their stuff so much back in college.
Thry did something insane and opened with Brightside, which was brilliant. Crowd went to 11 immediately and never let down. Halfway through they pulled up some rando from the crowd and he stole the show on drums. That dude just had the best birthday of his entire damn life.
all in all, 100% going again next year if the lineup is this good. I can't believe they had those three acts on one stage for $100. Disappointed to see it so empty for even Death Cab and the Lips. Whatever. I'm glad I went.
Aloha!
Some on here follow Catfish Charlie (or his many variations) on Twitter. He came up with a great question tonight:
What song would’ve been better if another artist had sung it?
My answer off the top of my head:
It's happened a few times. Respect by Aretha (Otis Redding), Simple Man by Shinedown (Lynyrd Skynyrd), Hurt by Cash (NIN).

He's asking to come up with your own suggestion that hasn't been done before.
Maybe Good Charlotte with two vocalists could pull off Comfortably Numb for instance.

I know you’re just giving an example, but…

I am aware of that, I was providing some examples that already happened.
I wouldn't mind seeing Metallica do "Are You Gonna Go My Way" by L Kravitz.

Thanks for posting this as they are opening for The Brothers Osborne at the Sioux Falls Fair on Saturday that we have tickets for. I had never heard of them before and they sound like they should be a pretty good opener.

Not a GC fan but covers can often surprise in that you probably would have thought "no way" before hand, for instance Miley Cyrus (normally a yuck for me) doing I'll Take Care Of You by Etta James. Don't ask me how I even stumbled upon that one haha. Sid Vicious doing My Way, Disturbed's The Sound of Silence (eat it haters) and A Hard Rain's Gonna Fall by Brian Ferry also come to mind.

I only recently discovered them on a Pandora station and now I am a fan. I think they should pair well with BO.

Sid Vicious doing My Way was awesome. Miley doing a traditional song, Silent Night, for the Bill Murray Christmas special is off the charts. I liked the idea of Disturbed/Sound Of Silence, but did not like the execution, and I like Disturbed.
The Ramones "Have You Ever Seen The Rain" was a good one, too.

Those are people with talent* though, not Good Charlotte. That’s all I’m saying. ?
I liked Disturbed’s live performance of Sound of Silence on Conan better than the studio version.
*Yeah, I know. “Talent” might be the wrong word in reference to Sid Vicious or The Ramones, but I think you know what I’m saying.

I enjoy Luke Combs version of "Fast Car" more than Tracy Chapman. I know there is quite the debate out there now on this topic but this is where I stand on it.

RIP Jimmy Buffett. 🙁

Found this clip...I was at the show...it was amazing, truly. But found it funny that this little "band" called The Frogs had PJ's support. Side note: The Smashing Pumpkins also included them on one of their concert/whatever releases back in the day. I do like the Frogs, but def NSFW and not for everyone:

You're literally the only person I've heard state that, and the one I linked is their 2nd new single. Que sera sera.
They are a band that can turn a 10K, 20K, etc venue into something like 1st Ave, very intimate. It's quite a feat.

That Stones/Gaga/Wonder song is just sublime.
For something different, Aretha meets Sabbath. Um, yes please.
These guys are really cool. One of my faves:
Listened to a Conan podcast episode with Dave Grohl, Krist Noveselic and producer Steve Albini talking about the making of In Utero at Pachyderm Records in Cannon Falls. Some very cool stories I had never heard before.
Nothing but TOOL for the last 2 weeks, haha. Hoping for another awesome show tomorrow night at the X!
Peace and love
So tonight Stevie Nicks Billie Joel at US Bank stadium wish I could go but I have other things going on, I hope to find links to the show
Aloha!

He fought hard to live but he just looked like walking death at a couple performances in the last year or so. For about a decade plus he was at the top of the country music world. Eff cancer.

It's Fat Tuesday so lots of Zydeco today!
