Fun article about the best and worst wedding songs. https://www.startribune.com/wedding-djs-and-singers-in-the-twin-cities-name-best-worst-songs-for-your-big-day/600173021/ Our Do Not Play list was:
- YMCA
- Chicken Dance
I've been asked this a couple times, as I've been in the official wedding parties as often, and as much I love AC/DC, "You Shook Me All Night Long" is not a good wedding song. It's just not. Probably should stay away from "Whole Lotta Rosie," also.

Ridiculous.
Ridiculous how many iconic songs came out of those 2 years?
Yes. One after the other songs that will never be forgotten (okay maybe a bit of hyperbole there but you know what I mean).
One of the few Seattle grunge pioneers still churnin em out.
Just because, but you have to admit. LOTS of big names in the video...

Carlos Santana collapsed at a concert in MI. 🙁

Glad he'll be OK.
Rory Gallagher live from 1972. If you've never listened check him out.
Live guitar solo for the ages!
In a conversation about "greatest album covers" that conversation likely starts and stops with Ken:
Looked at Springsteen tickets for the show at the X next year this morning. The cheapest seats I saw were over $250 each after fees. Ridiculous.

I read due to Ticketbastard's "Dynamic Pricing" tix could be up to $4K. Basically, Ticketbastard is a scalper, and charging what scalpers are charging. They are adjusting to "real time prices" based on demand. Whee.

KLF. The White Room
Posting this mainly because I like the song, but secondarily because I'm not sure I've ever seen another drummer with this dude's technique:
<h5 class="entry-title">"MOUNT OLIVET LUTHERAN’S ‘BLUES BREWS N BBQ’ BENEFIT FOR PRISM RETURNS"</h5>
After a two year hiatus my wife and I will be heading over to listen to fine blues/rock music, drink a few beers and feast on some delicious BBQ food, all for a good cause.

The coolest thing you will watch today:
The Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concert happened in London this past weekend and there were several performances that were amazing from what I have been able to gather on You Tube. Two that stood out were Taylor's son playing with the Foos and Wolf Van Halen playing two Van Halen songs.
I'm not a Van Halen aficionado like @Hammy is but I would think he would agree Wolfie kicked ass playing those songs. I would post the You Tube link to show how much he kicked ass but I haven't figured out how to do that yet. Go check it out.

Wolfie is mad talented and has some solid material with Tremonti and Mammoth WVH.
Echo And The Bunnymen were great tonight at The Filmore. Great spot by the stage, the sound was excellent and the set list was solid.

Wolf definitely tore it up. He did a great job with those two tunes. He doesn't have the amazing "mad scientist" creativity of his father (then again, nobody does) but he definitely has the same musical DNA. I was very impressed (I liked most of his solo work). If you closed your eyes and just listened to that Hot for Teacher solo, you would almost think that you were listening to Eddie.
I can understand why he doesn't want to ride the coattails of his dad's music and doesn't play any of it in his own shows... but I hope there comes a point sometime in his career where he is comfortable throwing in a Van Halen tune into his set list because he can definitely pull it off. Carry on the legacy Wolf!

Rick Beato on You Tube responded to a guy that questioned that the solo was "too good" to be Wolf. Beato went through and shot that theory to hell.
I plan on going to see Wolf open for Alterbridge at Mystic Lake in February and very much look forward to seeing him tear it up playing his Mammoth songs. I agree though that I hope he one day sprinkles in a VH song because he can carry that legacy very well.

Yes, I saw that video too. I thought it was funny. Your dad is EVH and you played music with him for years... of course you are going to pick up the nuances that others don't have access to.
I think it is just the fact that the world has endured so many EVH clones over the last 4+ decades but none of them truly sound like the king... so it shocks some people that Wolf sounds so close. The guitar tone and his timing was extremely close to his dad's.
I think Wolf largely tries to avoid mimicking his dad's style because he'll automatically get accused of ripping off his dad. Which is unfortunate but I totally understand why he is sensitive to it. But there is no doubt he can pull it off very well.
By the way, I am planning on making a pilgrimage to Pasadena, CA in the future to visit the Van Halen's childhood home and some other local sites. I am glad we have the music forever but it still bums me out that EVH is no longer creating music and living life.
Not sure what made me think of this tonight, but watch the video, and start naming the artists.
Spoiler, I always failed at Kim Carnes (she's the woman with Cyndi Lauper).

Last night I went to St. Michaels and saw my favorite band The Suburbs play a outdoor show, a hour and a 1/2 of their best music
Aloha!
I forgot how damn good CCR’s Willy And The Poor Boys is.
Tremendous album.

Speaking of CCR, watched the CCR at the Royal Albert Hall on Netflix tonight. Enjoyed it a lot.
Watched that, too, and really enjoyed and what reminded me I had not listed to Willy And The Poor Boys in quite a while.

I'm 50% factual and 50% sarcastic. When you get to know me, you will know which is which.
I totally forgot about this video being filmed on the mall area in front of the student Union in the winter of my freshman year in 2003, I remember it being very bitter that day!

Jeff Beck died today also.
Aloha!
Posting this here because he is a child of a celebrity like Lisa Marie...but Robbie Knievel is dead. Who is the third to pass now?

My wife and I, along with my sisters and their husbands, went to The New Standards Christmas show and they pulled this one out for an awesome cover. I had forgotten what a spectacular album Paul Simon's Graceland was until giving it a recent re-listen after the show.

Aloha!
Procured my tickets to Metallica today. Now I just have to wait 19 months for the show. Just a little ridiculous.
Checked out the first ep of "Fight The Power: How Hip-Hop Changed The World" on PBS tonight.
Having watched "Hip Hop Evolution" on Netflix (TREMENDOUS series), I was disappointed in this a bit. Focused way more on the political and not a whole lot on the how the music was involved. Apparently it's a 4 part series, about an hour long per ep.
Maybe the focus on the music will get there, but as much as I love Chuck D (Public Enemy), this series is a Cliff's Notes of the Netflix series at best.

Oh funny, I had forgotten about Slade until this popped up recently on a playlist I was listening to.
For this of you who watch Ted Lasso I think the Slade's lead singer plays Rebecca's mom. ?
