I heard about this on the radio this morning. The film you mention is fantastic!! I'd encourage everyone to watch it, his life was just unbelievable, dirt poor childhood, little brother killed, his mother turned to prostitution, the building of his studio, betrayal, it's all just fascinating. And the background on his studio band I could watch and listen to for hours. He was an original.
Note: Due to inflation dirty deeds will no longer be done dirt cheap.

A little late to the game, this has been out a while, and it might surprise you, but I love this song (they play it on the Current quite a bit):
When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.
Finally had the timeframe to do it; listening to the Cranberries' first three albums. Man, they were good. So varied in their tunes, melodically excellent, etc. RIP Delores.

Yes - they were very good back in the day. Zombie rings in my head all the time - to this day. In my sixty plus years on this planet there are a few dozen songs that roll through my head like a sound track... without hearing them. That is one of them. Ya I know that is kinda schizo but is what it is.

I hear ya. "Salvation" does it for me, from their library. It's my fault that I hadn't popped these albums in, in quite a while. I regret it.

Just got home from Marilyn Manson at the myth. Great show, dude killed it.
Been listening to my BRMC catalog. To me one of the most underrated bands ever.
Did anyone else have to Google BRMC, or was I the only one?

I had no idea, and still don't after googling.

Me neither, but I'll give them a listen tonight.
I think I saw them way back when they played 1st Ave once, and they weren't even headlining. From what I think I remember, it was them, Reverend Horton Heat, and another band. Decent band.

Had some fun at EP Old Chicago today.
Cancion Del Mariachi (Los Lobos)
A Mi Manera (Gipsy Kings)
Makeba (Jain)
I Am The Best (2NE1)
Los Tiempos Van Cambiando ( Franky Perez & Los Guardianes del Bosque)
and then finished up with Bongo Rock by Incredible Bongo Band
They didn't have "Sleepy Maggie" by Ashley MacIsaac, which was disappointing. That is also a great song.

Listened to this album last night. Killer. :good2:

They've released 4 or 5 new singles in the past couple of months.

No..not really. Ben Burnley started it up with all new musicians after he went through legal crap with the former band mates after they released The Best Of CD without Burnley's input or consent. Burnley has a lot of personal issues with extreme phobias and alcoholism so he isn't perfect but he definitely has a way he wants BB to be presented. I've read interviews that he is pretty happy with this incarnation of BB since he handpicked the members. I think with the inclusion of Jasen Rauch to the band who has a history of great songwriting with the band RED will add something to the band.

This. And then entered the wormhole of mashups and mixes. It's a pleasurable torture for my sleep cycle but still a torture.

Roger Daltrey has a new album coming out soon. First single. :dup:
Steven Tyler is 70 today? Holy crap.
I’ve been on a real Nirvana kick lately, found this gem which is a cover of the 80s punk group Fang, at least I think that’s what it is.
My wife has turned me onto The Turnpike Troubadours over the last few months. Bluegrass-ish music, with a little more rock mixed in than traditional bluegrass. Similar to Trampled by Turtles, but a different sound and vibe.
There are few songs I really like from them. Right now its The Bird Hunters. It is a song about coming home after trying to live in the city. I connect with this one, for obvious reasons.

I think you'd like Nate Raitliff's stuff. Not quite blues-grass-ish, but very good. Obviously you've heard SOB, his new single is a bit different, but equally as good.

I am pretty certain he called you a sonofabitch.

I've never heard that song before. He hasn't come up on my Google music app before.

SOB is one of those songs that sounds fun until you listen to the lyrics and it gets really dark.
SOB is dark, no doubt. I like him because he's out of the norm for music nowadays.

Nathan Rateliff and the Night Sweats are awesome. Definitely on my "should see them live" list.
For my fellow 90s grunge fans a new Alice In Chains track is out...
Always loved Jerry's singing voice, really good song, thanks!
Sevendust came out with their new album, All I See is War, and I haven't been this disappointed in one their albums in a long time. Using big time producer Elvis Baskette who has produced both Alterbridge and Slash's last couple of albums I was hoping for something better. I've listened to it 2-3 times all the way through and it has been a struggle. To be honest I liked Clint Lowery/Morgan Rose's solo effort Call Me No One and John Connelly's Projected albums were better than what All I See is War is to me.
I am much more excited about Alice in Chains new song though. Jerry and the boys provided what I would expect considering what the previous two albums with William Duvall in the group sounded like.
Sometimes I get it that an artist wants to grow and use new ways to put their voice out there. But mostly I want my bands to sound like the bands I like because I like the way they sound. Alice is one of those bands that while they push their sound they still have that dark Alice sound I love. Sevendust just whiffed with this latest offering, maybe I'll come around but I fear I may not.

New Stone Temple Pilots...I just saw them last weekend at Northern Invasion, pretty darn good.

Is there nothing Neil Patrick Harris can't do?
New Lamb of God 5/18.
The Current has been doing an 893 Essential Songs countdown, voter based. Listeners sent in their top ten essential songs (not best/greatest/whatever), and then the votes were totaled up.
1. This is cool because it specifically said don't vote for what you think is neutrally the best, vote what is best for YOU. Like, ten songs you can take with you forever sorta thing.
2. No repeats (from 8am-7pm, IIRC) for about a week.
I think numbers 95-1 are tomorrow. Should be interesting. And hearing them play stuff they probably won't ever play again (some NWA, Metallica) is fun. And also the clash of styles of music back-to-back. Heard Grateful Dead (Ripple) followed by Tribe Called Quest (Scenario) today.

Not necessarily my top 10, but a few that I think are just excellent.
Cody Jinks, acoustic. Very underrated artist, with one helluva voice. Writing and singing real country songs, not bullshit about shaking bootie or whatever the fuck it is FGL sings about:
Zac Brown should have quit after this song, because he's never going to top it. Live video from the best love music venue in the world, bar none. I was at this show:
Johnny Cash, in his last, and easily most poignant, heartwrenching, and telling song. A cover, and one of the most appropriate covers ever performed:
King George. The greatest country artist in history. Singing what I think is the best example of a true cowboy country song ever written and performed.
Church. Springsteen:
The Stones, because I'll take The Stones over The Beatles any day. Love this song:
I could do many more, but for now, I'll end with tje greatest artist of our time, performing a cover:
Johnny Holm is the greatest?
Johnny Holm is the greatest?
There was supposed to be implied sarcasm.
