I had never heard of Y: The Last Man before today but after 2 episodes so far I am hooked.
I don't even notice subtitles anymore, TBH. It's in my peripherals.
I haven't wanted to admit this, but I turned subtitles on a couple months ago on my steaming devices mostly because my wife is a light sleeper and I wanted to watch TV. Since then, I just watch subtitles of everything and honestly I catch WAY more things reading them than not. I know I am getting older, but I am contending that they are on for exploratory purposes.
Using subtitles isn’t an old person thing. I have an 18 yo daughter and her and all her friends always have them on.
I can’t not read the words so I miss what’s actually happening. ?
Has anyone else caught Dopesick on Hulu yet? Basically it's a mini series on the rise of Oxycontin, Purdue Pharma, and the opioid epidemic in the US. It's based on a non-fiction book "Dopesick: Dealers, Doctors, and the Drug Company that Addicted America". It is very good cast with Michael Keaton, Peter Sarsgaard, and Rosario Dawson in major roles. Give it a watch...it's a really good drama.

Yes I've been watching- through Ep 3 so far and it's quite good.
Dopesick is decent. I think it's always difficult when you have characters that are composites of a lot of different people. It kind of leans into melodrama and caricature at times. It's definitely worth watching(this or a non-fictionalized version) if you're not familiar with the story though.
Hulu has been on a nice run lately. Dopesick is watchable, Only Murders in the Building is very good, and Reservation Dogs was probably the best new show in a number of years.
Anyone interested in the new 'The Wonder Years'? The original 'The Wonder Years' is probably my all-time fav. tv. series. So I'm interested to see how it goes.
Just can't get into the new 'The Wonder Years'. The story lines seem to drawn out and slow. Has potential, but I don't think it'll last.
Keep your stick on the ice...
Richard Hammond's Workshop is pure cheap fun.
I got about 35 minutes into episode 1 of Squid Game last night and shut it off. I just can't. The main guy's over-acting is too annoying.

JUST a tad too early.

Give it a little more time, beyond the first episode. And very similar style to other K-Drama and Korean shows.

This.

I’m not much of a reality tv fan. Though I would think a show on hotel house keepers, the stuff they see and clean up. As well as a show on driving the biffy truck (aka the chili wagon) and dealing with portable biffys.. lol!!!

I had the exact same reaction watching that tool over act.
He does tamp it down as the series goes on, and it's almost unnoticeable toward the end. You may not like the show for other reasons, but the main guy's lack of acting chops won't be that reason.
Narcos: Mexico (final season, Netflix streaming)
Through Ep5. The first episode lays some groundwork, where does it go from here? How will they approach it? The second episode sets everything in motion, and here...we...go. Not as intense as the past seasons so far, but...
Definitely recommended for a series watch. Minor spoiler, the guy who plays El Chapo is a spittin' image of the real guy. Voice and everything.

Through Ep9 now...this is gonna be fun to watch. From the presentation, they aren't ending an arc at a time in general...it's going to come all at once. Many know the end result already, it's just how it got there.

Yellowstone S4 sure started off with a bang.
I'm glad that they answered the questions from the cliffhanger from last season but these first two episodes had some plot holes and a rather jagged timeline. Don't get me wrong I loved both episodes but I think they worked too hard to introduce so many story lines for the rest of the season.

Through 8 episodes of The Lost Symbol so far I will make just a few comments:
-I love Eddie Izzard the comedian but he's not a great actor here
-I do not like the portrayal of Robert Langdon so much in this version
-The antagonist has been done within reason and not overdone
-Overall the story, production and acting have made for a very intriguing series and I look forward to the climax
Narcos Mexico ended nicely. There is closure, I had heard this was the final season. BUT, I wish they would continue with the story, as this is more to tell, especially with the main player at the end of this particular season.

I can't imagine this would be the end but maybe they feel the rise and fall of El Chapo angle has already been done enough?

They could cover the quick rise and fall of Los Zetas. That could be really good. If one thinks that Pablo was vicious...one hasn't seen ANYthing yet.

I have zero interest in Los Zetas. I don't even like watching Saw or The Purge.
I won't watch Saw, but the immediate rise of Los Zetas is a really interesting story, since for a brief while, they were more powerful than the Sinaloa cartel. That's a rather big deal.

Watching part 1 of Get Back with a huge smile on my face.
So, signed up for a Paramount+ trial for the South Park "Made For TV Movie Event" (IT'S NOT A SPECIAL! as the ad proclaims). Worth it. Very funny, and as usual, South Park drops the lines when you least expect it at times, and also leaves you hanging at times. You think you know where they are gonna go, and then, whoops, nope.
And then I cancelled the trial, because the viewing options were worthless to me.

Anyone watch the Sinner? Started it on Netflix, season 1 was good. Started season 2 and dumped it, went to season 3. My wife had to keep watching it and it got horribly long and drawn out and when it finally ended I was so happy to be done with it. Season 4 is only on USA channel, not on Netflix yet. Bill Pullman is a retired detective and he has a Columbo like character. Up to episode three and so far it’s better than season 3 but Bill Pullman is annoying with the old man grunts and groans and idiosyncrasies of an old retired detective.
I’ll report back after season four.

I can almost throw a rock from my house into New Hope and I’ve never heard of this place. Guess I’m going to have to change that
Watching part 1 of
Watched the first 2 parts last night, a little slow in some sections but better than I expected. Watching them write songs when you know how it’s gonna come out is riveting. Also kind of shoots down the blame Yoko narative. There’s also some parts when they are obviously high that are funny. Seems like they were trying to hide it but there’s one shot where Ringo pops up from behind a separator and coughs out a hit that’s gold. Lennon asking if Tucson is in Arizona is great, too.

Watching them create was awesome. Paul pulling Get Back out of thin air and conceiving half of Abbey Road in the middle of their recording Let it Be is insane. John would come in with great songs he wrote the night before, and George had enough material it eventually because the triple-album All Things Must Pass. And to the untrained eye Ringo was no slouch. He's one of the most respected drummers of all time, for YEARS was the highest paid session drummer, and there's stories about innovative he was as a drummer. I mean THEY were excited as hell to have him replace Pete Best.
Yoko was an influence to some degree. Her and John were reportedly mired in a heroin addiction at the time, and he began spending more and more time with her meaning less time to write with Paul. But that's not her fault per se that's just life. The bigger impetus than Yoko was their hiring of Allen Klein at the protest of Paul, despite the Rolling Stones telling them not to and a host of others. That drove a wedge between Paul and the other 3 who sadly after it was too late realized he was a bad dude.
What's crazy is how young they were and fast they progressed from Please Please Me & I want To Hold Your Hand to Strawberry Fields, Helter Skelter, etc. Paul was only 26 during these sessions. It was inevitable they were going to break up but Klein imho hastened the result.
Oh yeah regarding Ringo, when Dave Grohl - the supposed anti-capitalist worth $300+ million sings your praises as an influence - that's good enough for me.
First two episodes of Hawkeye were great.
First
I couldn't check for a new one last night. I will get right on it. LOL.
Third Hawkeye episode best yet. "Hahahaha... Block. Delete."
Not sure how I missed The Detour, but I'm now into S2 and it's still awesome. Also not sure how the lead is not related to Ed Helms.

Jason Jones is hilarious in this. I think the 4th season is the last one.
It was no Loki, but I had fun watching Hawkeye.

Agreed.
The Madden documentary on Fox before the football games today was outstanding.
I'm 50% factual and 50% sarcastic. When you get to know me, you will know which is which.

Strap in. Blue, dark humor, and hilarious, if you're into that sort of thing. I cannot post the OTHER clip that popped up on a google search, but this one will suffice, and it is the tamest:

The way he goes after people in the crowd is next level, he really cuts them to the bone.
Coyote on Paramount+
First, I will say there is a ton of good content on that app. Well worth the $9.99/month.
As for Coyote, it’s Michael Chicklis and he directs it as well. Retired Border Patrol Agent who goes down to Mexico to finish his old partners cabin. Ends up getting involved (not voluntary) with the cartel. I am only 4 episodes into it, but found myself watching it today rather than other stuff I needed to get done. Solid binge-worthy show.

I’m going to bookmark this on my phone. It will be in heavy rotation showing it to my husband.
I especially love “in a patronizing manner”.
Note: Due to inflation dirty deeds will no longer be done dirt cheap.

There is quite a bit of language, just a heads up, and the title of the special does sum up a majority of the humor.
