After the cold snap lately it was a Minnesota spring like day so I went out on my 40 acres of woods and sat on a log on the sunny side hill with a peanut butter sandwich and a Diet Coke and listened to absolutely nothing. Just a warm peaceful day outdoors.

Milk is so underrated. Gotta have my milk. No I'm not crazy.

Yesterday my six-year-old says too warm (40°) for a coat while eating a slushy when we were outside taking my wife to the airport … 👍

Just your everyday run of the mill center fielder unassisted tag the batter out at home plate play.   Laugh

I was thinking the same thing.

The catcher covered third when no one else did. Where was the pitcher?  First basemen?

The runner can't score by just getting to 3rd and leaving the plate unprotected was a bad move.  Yes the catcher wasn't the only one to forget the fundamentals but he was one of them. Many of the comments seem to agree. 😀

The first basemen is hanging out between first and second base (closer to second base) and the pitcher is hanging out between the pitcher's mound and 3rd base.

The 3rd baseman, catcher, 1st basemen, and pitcher all did nothing useful on this play so the center fielder is like well if you all aren't going to help I guess I will just have to do it myself. 👍

the 3rd baseman and catcher both did their jobs correctly although were a bit late to their spot. The pitcher, 1st baseman and centerfielder all failed to do theirs. The centerfielder lucked into an out.

The 3rd basemen and catcher aren't doing their job since they were late covering the bases. It does no good to run towards a base if you get their late.

The 3rd baseman never even gets close to covering 2nd base so stay at 3rd base in which case the catcher doesn't try to cover for him and get himself out of position since he didn't get to 3rd base in time.

I do agree at some point the center fielder should have thrown the ball to the catcher when the catcher was running up the 3rd base line between home plate and 3rd base.

My wife was out of town on a work trip in Oakland from this past Sunday to today. I told the 3 kids "the inmates won't run the asylum" several times. Glad to say I survived, the house was just as, if not cleaner and better shape than when she left, the kids are still alive...

Layla was such a good girl and we couldn't have had the best dog for our family for the last 10 years.  We had to let her go yesterday which broke our hearts but she is able to run and be a puppy again now.  The picture on the right was one year ago when we went on vacation in Northern Wisconsin.  She loved that week sleeping by the fireplace and going for walks along Lake Superior.  The picture on the left was just last week, so interested in the ice cream my wife was eating.

We miss her so much, the silence in the house is deafening without the clicking of her nails on the hardwood.  I kept waiting for her to follow me to the kitchen last night when I would go get a beer from the fridge.  I know for sure I won't ever change my avatar on GPL, not that I thought to anyway.

I'm so sorry for you and your family. She sounds like a lovely lady. And yes, they're there and then they're gone. That empty space hits more than anything. Please take care.

My sympathies for you and your family.  Losing a pet might be one of the most difficult things we do in life, but the time they spend with us is certainly worth it.  She reminds me a lot of our old guy that we lost three years ago. Maybe they’ll get to say hi to each other, wherever all the good dogs go. 🐕

@g-manpuck

My condolences… I never thought I would cry as an adult (did as a kid) over losing a pet. When the vet told me they did all they for my first cat Daisy, I cried. And I did the best thing possible… got a new cat with in a week. 15 plus years later, I know I’ll be a wreck when Conn Smythe moves onto kitty heaven.

No truer statement could be made.  I saw my dad cry when we put my childhood dog Willie down after 14 years with our family.  My dad cried so hard that day when my mom brought home Willie for my dad and I to bury in our back yard.  I completely understand that day for my dad now.  Yesterday leading up to taking Layla to the vet was much harder than leaving there.  Layla was ready to go and was so strong up to the end...she went so peacefully which we all are grateful for and we all know we made the correct decision.

Thank you everyone for the kind words...it means a lot.

@g-manpuck

I’ve seen my dad tear up only twice. Once at church, he was speaking to the congregation and when he called the vet to put our dog down that my parents had shortly after they were married.
A funny story about that dog… my parents got her in Kansas while he was a ranch hand. They named her Poodee… I was born and we move to Montana, where my dad was going to work on a friend’s farm. And out of all the names for one of their dogs… Poodee. And still today I’ve never heard of a dog named Poodee besides those 2 dogs.

Browning High School was one of my high school’s rivals. They are class size above us in sports. Though the team takes to court in their warbonnets/headdresses for warmups for tourney play or when they played us. Sometimes accompanied by the Blackfeet Tribal Chief and members of the Blackfeet Nation banging on drums. It got pretty intense and intimidating playing them, especially in Browning's gym. Florida State football doesn’t hold a candle in the wind to pregame in Browning for football or basketball.

Browning boys qualified for the State A Boys Tourney. And I can guarantee pretty the whole Blackfeet community will be at the Tourney… “Good Luck” to the Browning Indians… make the Blackfeet Nation proud!!!

Bucket list item.  Saw a rocket launch tonight.  It was from quite a distance, but it was still pretty badass.  Cool to see at night.

Now I want to see one up close.  I may have to schedule a trip to Texas to see them catch a rocket.

@g-manpuck sorry for your loss, nothing easy about it that’s for sure. I remember having to put down my 13 yr old chocolate lab, I made arrangements at the vet in advance because I knew when that day was gonna come I wouldn’t be able to talk much without breaking down. Just an awful day but giving the dog peace and knowing it was pain free and playing with other dogs in that wide open space in the sky helped me.

@g-manpuck I think of my dog now being able to do all the things it wanted to do but wasn’t supposed to. Rolling in stinky dead fish, chasing rabbits a half mile across an open field, eating half my sandwich with one bite when I held it too low, putting teeth marks in the recoil pad of my shotgun.😂 the good stuff!😁

Thank you for the kind words, you obviously understand all too well.  We do think about how Layla is now running wild and hopefully getting along well with others since she really didn't while she was here.  We do think about her everyday yet.  The absence of her nails clicking on the hardwood in the house is deafening.  My wife is lost because she doesn't know who to give her pizza crust to and our ice cream bowls go without cleaning before putting them in the dishwasher.  Pets are truly a treasure while you have them in your family.

"The fan who bought Brendan Gallagher's 2022 Hockey Fights Cancer jersey reached out and offered it to him after his mom passed away from brain cancer in March. Tonight, she was able to return it to him. In return, he gave her his signed, game-worn jersey."

(I did a quick look, couldn't find that on-ice video on YouTube)

B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?

@steve-mn

Thanks for sharing. Definitely brought a tear or two to my eyes. Especially thinking of my wife and her surgery tomorrow. Her tumor on her brain behind her eye, may not be cancerous and being benign. It’s putting pressure on her pituitary gland and left optic nerve. Praying and hoping for a successful surgery tomorrow and no long-term effects from it.

Keep your stick on the ice...

When people tell me I’ll regret not having kids, I say that’s okay I know a really good place to cry. It’s my vacation home.
