NASA TV did a great job covering it.

Never ceases to amaze me how fast the eclipse moves.  Total in Mazatlán to total in Dallas was what, about 8-10 minutes apart at most?

I remember when I was growing up in Mpls in the 70s we had a partial eclipse

Aloha!

Too bad it was cloudy here.  It did seem a bit darker around 2pm but some dark clouds also rolled through around that time.
We had a partial eclipse here just a few years ago in 2017…

We didn't get the total eclipse in Massachusetts, but I shot these photos about 10-15 minutes before we hit our 93% peak.

Eclipse1
Eclipse2
Eclipse3

Favorite image I've seen so far of the eclipse.  Spectacular picture.

Had one jet fly under the eclipsed sun at totality where I was.  I'll have to check to see if any of my shots picked it up, but it's way out of the direct picture, if I caught it at all.

From a different position, no reason the jet I saw couldn't be that very same one.

And, even more interesting, from 2017... during the partial phase, the ISS transited the sun:

We were in the upper deck and this happened right below us. When Reilly took the penalty in the closing minute of the game, I thought it was over and I remember yelling shoot when Holl was skating towards the goal. I also recall on the Friday off day some of the fans went out and had .6 shirts made and were wearing them at the pregame at Xfinity Live.

@frozen4champs

I also remember the moment! It happened right in front of me. I was sitting at the goal end in those horrid metal expanding seats that arena had.  A group of green jerseys in front of me.  When Holl scored I was jumping up and down hugging the Boston guy next to me.  But the sweetest part was the crying drunk ND woman blubbering over and over “but we were on the Power Play”.  Even the Boston fan said “what a bunch of idiots”.
I love the video of the team welcoming Holl back in the locker room.

I was watching in my crappy transient housing in Seattle...using my phone as a hot spot and casting it to my tv.  It was behind so GE was giving me play by play!

BTW Holl's dad is great to drink with!

I was in a bar plum packed… Probably 50/50 between UND fans and Gopher fans. The initial play I jumped off my barstool and was standing on the floor… When they showed the replay, I then was standing on the barstool!!!

Wrestling is still number one in my heart for sports to watch and cheer.  I am a Hawkeye through and through but I've always had respect for Oklahoma State wrestling and most of all John Smith.  While he is not an all timer as a competitor in the college ranks he is an all timer as a coach who ran an impeccable program for 33 years.

As a competitor on the international stage you can't argue against that he is the GOAT of USA Wrestling.  Two Olympic gold medals, four World Championship gold medals, two Pan American Games gold medals, and two Goodwill Games gold medals...that is one hell of a list.  One could argue that Jordan Burroughs is the GOAT but to me he comes up just short because of the difference in eras they competed in.

Ride off into the sunset cowboy!

my first year of having sth for the State Hockey Tourney was when the tourney went back to the X. And in that first year, they had me on the glass, but in front of the band. On the glass seats are OK but sitting in front of a high school band is not OK.
I got moved to be on the goal line 15th row up on the end where the high seed shots twice. And I really liked my seats for the last 20+ years. Close to the student section and great view of the goals on that end. Though I noticed the very next year they no longer had people sitting in front of the band

We sat in front of the mankato band in Boston; that was a nice little slice of hell.

The band director is a good dude but I feel your pain about being near them at a game...they play like five songs over and over and over...

In reading the comments, that seemed to be the speculation.  Judging by the reaction I would say she had not seen their final makeup.    I know some disapprove of characters breaking, but I thought it added more hilarity to the skit.

Cove Point Lodge (Beaver Bay, Mn.) on Lake Superior. We spent our honeymoon there and our anniversaries. Super nice lodge, quiet, with good amenities. Very reasonable price wise and not overall fancy… very simple. Helps that we go during the off season. Plus the last two nights hearing the waves crash against the rocks. Normally in the past, Superior has been calm to rough. This past weekend Superior was really rough, especially last night and this morning.

@thinkbui, Are you behind this? Several years ago Lego came out with Gopher Hockey Lego players. They had maroon helmets with gold “M”. I couldn’t get myself to buy them. I tried sending an email to Lego customer service to get them to change the helmets and got nowhere.

Lego does do good Gopher Football creations and players. Just failed with the hockey and does dang maroon helmets.

This might not start out as a Simple Pleasure but hear me out.  We opened our cabin on the 1st, the earliest opening we’ve had.  It all went smoothly.  Yesterday there was a fire behind our cabin!  We noticed smoke in the area we call the “swamp” and it quickly spread in 2 fire lines along the dead grass/cat tails and underbrush.  Now in case people didn’t know, our cabin is on an island, there is no road, you get there by boat.  Out of 70 cabins on the island, only 6 had opened.  In less then 10 minutes, everyone on the island was helping to battle the fire.  The Cass Lake fire department showed up, 2 pontoon boats worth-shuttled over by marina employees.  The island invested many years ago in floating water pumps and hose, those were already set up and running, but man it was nice to see the FD.  Honestly we were losing ground and the fire was heading towards real trees rather than just a grass fire.  If that had happened it would have been much harder.  After 4 hours, about 25 people and two water hoses running it was all over. 2 firemen walked the entire fire perimeter for another hour or so making sure all was truly out.  The fire came within 10 feet of our cabin and less then 4 from our boathouse.  It was both a very stressful day and here’s the Simple Pleasure, a real show of neighbors supporting each other.  I looked at soot covered, water and mud soaked folks and saw true caring.  Cold beers were passed around and a donation to the FD will be made 🙂.

The best the FD could determine was that a lightening strike days earlier had smoldered.  Between the wet areas it just lingered, then the overnight winds fanned it into a brush fire.  It started in the middle of the damn swamp and spread out in a circle.

I looked last night and this afternoon for an image of the Gopher Hockey player and no success. I brought it up and tagged @thinkbui cause he’s a Lego guy. And the image popped up on my fb feed as a Gopher fan Lego person.

omg that is great! I had to watch several times to absorb it all.  We have a home to second to third to home three-bagger (after being redirected from initially heading to third), the dramatic flop by the kid who got beaned in the head (and the guy who just stands there and stares at him), the kids at the end who just seemed to say “f’ this” and galavant off, and just the general randomness of the infield players.  😂

It’s like herding cats.

I was thinking the same thing but also the batter tossed the bat back into his own coach. And yeah the red team's player skipping off as the batter makes it to home was the chef's kiss.

Yesterday the twins next door, 1 1/2 yrs old, were trying to catch a rabbit in their backyard.  It was very similar to this 😂.  They “wanted” to catch it, but the flowers were distracting, the toys were interesting and new people (me) needed to be checked out.  No rabbits were harmed, but a valiant effort was made.

Too much light pollution where I am at, and now some cloud cover coming in. 🙁 I am enjoying all the pics on social media, though.
