1. HOW THE HELL DID SHE NOT SEE THAT IN FRONT OF HER?!
2. Just another day in Hazzard County.

It was like a "GOT DAYUM!" No "d" in "God" and the short version of "dayummmmmmm"

I wonder if she yelled, "Weeeeee!" mid-flight.
1) Mowing the yard. I tell myself if I have the bag on it's like harvest time in a combine. If the bag is off I tell myself it's like swather cutting for hay... lol!!!
2) Yesterday I had a stump grinder come over and grind down the 3 lilac stumps in my back yard. He charged me almost less than it would've been if I rented one from Home Depot. Plus he did it in less than 15 minutes, where I've never operated one. So in the time it took him to do the job, it would've took me just to figure out and be comfortable with the rented stump grinder.

I love the freshly cut lawn. I just wish it would last a little longer.

Agree. The day of and the next day, the lawn looks so nice and fresh.
This is the third summer for us at the house and it's taking time to get the lawn into shape. It was a rental for so long. They took excellent care of the house in and out, but the yard was neglected. So along with the grass and some landscaping throughout the yard, I keep tell myself it's a marathon not a sprint.

Oh man. We have a rental a couple houses down from us and the lawn is sooooo bad. I think the owner got sick of waiting for them to mow so he just got someone out here Saturday to mow for them.I love the freshly cut lawn. I just wish it would last a little longer.

Cut long. Water, water, water. Overseed.
I was just thinking to myself this morning that I have to increase my mower height. I don't usually do that so early in the year, but it just won't rain.

I'm beginning to think a couple of houses in are neighborhood are rentals. One for sure, cause of word of mouth. Though dandelion haven in a couple yards. The best yard in the neighborhood lives between 2 of the worse yards. Don't know how they keep their yard in tip, top shape like they do.

The summer of 2021 murdered significant portions of my lawn. I was dumb and thought it would go dormant, but I didn’t fully realize how sandy the soil here is. It was too late by the time I realized it was just dying. Then, my back went out and 2022 I wasn’t really able to get out there. This year I finally got out to do some weeding, overseeing, fertilizing, but the damage done makes it really slow. Not as many types of weeds this year, but still a LOT of clover. I’m just telling myself it is aerating the soil and reminding myself it doesn’t turn back around in a year if you aren’t ripping it out and laying sod.
It appears we're heading into a 3rd straight drought summer. My lawn got scorched the last 2 years. It's so full of weeds and dry spots now, and no amount of fertilizing and watering seems to work. I think it just has a horrible soil foundation underneath. The house was built in 1968, and I'm pretty sure putting a solid 3" of black dirt down wasn't a thing at the time. The city will be ripping up our street and 10 feet into my yard to replace sewer lines and water mains next summer, so I've pretty much given up on the front yard until after that is done.
Side note: The local high school is replacing the field turf at the football field this summer. Last week there were dozens of rolls of the old turf sitting in the parking lot that were waiting to be hauled away. I briefly considered making a run there in the middle of the night and taking some home. Always lush and green. No watering. No mowing. No fertilizing. How sweet would that be?
Two hours into a 24 hour marathon documentary on the Normandy Invasion. The simple pleasure is that there are people out there willing to fund things like this, as well as a group that's devoted a huge amount of time over the last year+ to making it a reality.
B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?

This post reminds me of a small bit of a Henry Rollins "Spoken Word" tour bit (paraphrasing here):
I'm at that age where I don't want that short, edited 4 hour version of a documentary series, I want the 12-hour, multi-part full-blown documentary.

I've been watching sporadically as well, and hope to fit the whole thing in over the next few days.
Good to see the black bear population growing in Minnesota. In 2000 there was roughly 18,200 black bears. It dipped down to below 13,000 in 2012. Now in 2023 there's roughly 16,000.

Have to laugh at this auction on eBay. He does have it noted that he can’t verify if it’s gam used or not. Though it’s obviously not game used. It has a Gopher Football helmet decal placed over the CCM logo on the side… lol!!!

We know a family who's daughter is currently on the US Gymnastic's team (Elle Mueller). Our sons have been on a few teams together over the years. I must have found out their daughter was a world class gymnast about 6-7 years ago so it's been interesting following along and hearing the stories of training and injuries and travel, etc. Last year she made the US national team after working through some injuries. It sounds like a whirlwind of competitions throughout the US, Europe, South America. Must be very exciting. But everything has been focused on next year's Olympics. To see the trials will be in her own back yard is great. She was one of the two gymnasts they had on stage for today's press conference.
I can't imagine the pressure and the excitement. Go Elle!
114 days and counting.

I got a two hour nap today. Thankfully the coffee at our breakfast spot was crap and I ordered a screwdriver that came as a two for one. Haven’t had a nap that good in ages.
Fathers Day was not too shabby.
The first of two UP trips. About 7 of us, 6 day trip*. Had a cabin just west of Ontonagon, right on the lake, full kitchen, 300' of private beach. Way cheaper per person than any hotel. That was Tue/Wed.
Houghton was Thu, standard Houghton bar-hopping night.
Fri-Sat was in Eagle River, an inn right on the lake (this is also the main place the "GPL" group stays at in July). Tremendous food and drink, very peaceful. Perfect weather, at 70 degrees and sunny, light breeze.
*If that's not a simple pleasure by itself, the 7 of us are friends simply because about 8-9 years ago, we all happened to be hanging out at LTD Brewing at the same time on Sunday afternoon, sitting on the rail. Of course, conversations happened, got to know each other, and now we're taking vacations together. The really odd part? The ages of the group vary from 33YO to 84YO. 😀

Both kids have reached out for advice on investing whatever they can into a 401k during their summer internships with Abbot. They are so much more astute at 19 and 20 respectively than I was until probably age 25. And from what I gather most of their friends are of the same mindset. Maybe the next generation isn't lost just yet.

Taylor Swift fans wear adult diapers so they don't miss part of the show??? I sure hope I don't have to smell them the next 2 nights slinging alcoholic drinks and water. I'll leave those fans for @skiier32... lol!!!

Astley is a fascinating story to be honest. He had one of the most hated songs of the 80's, but never took himself too seriously and has actually remained in the spotlight (for good reasons) for 5 decades. And there's this:

Yes! I love AGT. This was the first act of this current season. Certainly not a million dollar act but hilarious none the less!
The best part of 4th of July weekend is def ESPN the Ocho. Currently watching the Slippery Stairs Championship which is the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen. Announcer: “it’s humid today that may be a factor”…I’m thinking the oil on the stairs is the only factor.
Before this it was the Wiffle Ball League All Star game. Announcer after one dude hit a solo HR: “that is how legends are made”….doh’kay
