That is hilarious.  Either the ref was in on it or it’s true, you can’t stop the music!

I was thinking the same thing about the ump.

To baseball knowledgist, Just curious… isn’t that a balk?

I’m not sure? His foot has to be on the rubber, and he has to start his pitching motion, as far as I understand.

Clearly the batter knew to stay ready, so this stuff must be expected in this league.  Is this a town ball team or something where they can get away with things like this?

Looking it up on Wiki, it's the Coastal Plain League, wood-bat D League of sorts. So, antics are encouraged. I'm thinking similar to the St Paul Saints when they first formed, something like that.

Seeing a '38 Bentley roll up to LTD brewery today. Collector's plates, so not a kit car. Apparently the guy restores cars, and he'll take them for a spin to make sure everything works. Gorgeous car.

Someone represents the Maroon and Gold at the :47 mark of this video. This looks like an event that no one wins.

My mechanic also does a ton of restoration work.  It’s always fun to see what he has lined up to work on

This would have been infinitely more hilarious if it was hockey only, but still I'm sure Whioux fans are not happy about this.

So.  Touring yacht in Norfolk harbor catches on fire.  Incredibly fast response by some local tug boats and another ferry/tour boat around the naval base.

Crews on both passenger ships do an amazing job getting everyone off the boat on fire safely.

There's the ship on fire, the other tour boat evacuating passengers and 3 or 4 tugs plus Coast Guard/sherrif's boats, all helping.

Meanwhile a cargo ship coming up the very narrow channel is slowing down to move around the cluster of boats dealing with the fire/passengers, as it's moving back into the middle of the shipping channel, it loses control for some reason (don't know why yet) and is headed straight for a Navy Destroyer that's docked in the Navy base there.

Two of the tugs immediately pull away from the ship that's on fire and high-tail it over to the freighter and get it diverted from it's pending collision with the docked destroyer.

And yes, he's rather chatty.  The channel is mostly maritime shipping news.  He started the channel when Evergiven was stuck in the Suez canal last year.

B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?

I went to the laundry mat a couple of years ago when our washer died.  There was a guy there how must have saved a year’s worth of clothing to clean all at once.  He probably had a dozen or more of the monster sized lawn waste bags full of clothes.  And most of them appeared to be working clothes that we very very grimy.  Looked oily.

I watched him spray kitchen degreaser on each piece of clothing.  It probably took and hour.  He then loaded them all into huge washers.  I was happy to have my clothes out of the washer before he added his.  Lord have mercy on whomever followed the guy.

Def had my share of laundromat experiences, hence it being an in-unit #2 demand (after having a balcony) for apt living. I never want to have to use a laundromat again.

I was at the optometrist yesterday and he went out of his way to tell me how polite my 12 year old daughter was for her appointment.

She’s borderline nasty and just pre teen girl with us but at least she treats others with respect and kindness

Our sons were never "nasty" per se but they definitely went through bouts of teenage angst, and we too were pleasantly surprised through those years how they managed to behave so much better around friends, in school and in public.

My 15 year old daughter went to Valley Fair last weekend with 3 friends and a couple of moms as chaperones.  About 2:00 in the afternoon my wife got a call from Valley Fair security informing her that our daughter was not in trouble but her 3 friends were being kicked out and banned from the park for a year.  They were on one of the water rides where there are 6 seats in a circle and you ride down the river.  Her friends didn't want to get wet (on a water ride) so they unbuckled mid-ride and moved seats to avoid a waterfall.  My daughter told them it was a bad idea and pointed out the signs saying to stay buckled and the cameras watching them.  When the ride was over, two security guards told them the camera caught them unbuckling and escorted everyone to the office.

It's pretty satisfying to be the parents of the only kid who wasn't dumb enough to get banned.

Last month, my wife and I took the kids to Culver's on a Saturday eve after church. The 5 of us had around table and we talked as a family while waiting and during dinner. A couple was sitting at a table next to us.  They finished their dinner shortly before we finished ours. As they were leaving the lady came over and told us how much she appreciated watching us and overhearing us.  She said we had the 3 best behaved kids she's seen in awhile.  We thanked her and I jokingly said "you should come to our house, you might think different" and we all went on with our eve.

So I understand davesharf, Slap Shot and Don Adam's... when it comes to your children and hearing the appreciations from others.

I have no idea how dangerous it is to unbuckle mid-ride, but if there is precedent of kids getting hurt when doing so it's completely understandable for the park to ban those who intentionally break the rules. If the park was to let it go with just a warning the liability that the park would be assuming could be all on the them with no (or greatly reduced) insurance coverage going forward.

So they didn't want to get wet but chose to go on a water ride like Thunder Canyon? (not sure it is still called that)  How dumb are these kids?  The parents should feel shame...

Seeing a Bachman's ad as I'm perusing GPL this morning.  Mrs. GE has worked for Bachman's since she was in high school (38 years this fall) and currently works in their corporate office.

I'm sure it's driven by past browsing history but still pretty cool.

Hmmm,

I keep getting adds for “mature” singles and Ukrainian women.  I can confidently say I’ve never browsed for either, nor am I in the demographic to be browsing for either of those things.

Jup, will we ever be able to get rid of the ads?!

I only noticed because I accidently clicked on one and it took me to Bachman's web site.  Otherwise I have not noticed them.

Having over $1,000 worth of work done on my Dodge Journey and only paying $100 deductible of the MaxCare plan. I’m around $9,000 in the plus cause of the MaxCare plan. And I’m in no hurry to get rid of the Journey at 173,000 miles. And every Dodge service rep. or mechanic I talk to agree!!!

Enjoying our nephew enjoy his first European travel.  We are in Croatia.  He very much likes the pretty young women ?  also the fact he can have a beer or glass of wine.

We are currently in Split, picking up our sailboat tomorrow for a week.

?We are so easy going and non-demanding, we’d be a huge letdown for the show…no drama.
And our boat won’t have crew other then the 3 of us, we’re bareboating.  My hubby (aka The Captain) gets to boss us around for the week, he WILL take advantage of the situation, but not too much as I’ll remember any Capt. Quig behavior.

We were at that ride last year and they closed it for about an hour and a half because someone unbuckled and fell out.  They had to stop the water flow and have a large safety team walk the whole length of the ride to make sure there were no injured or dead people in the “river” bottom.

just a year ago a kid died when the raft flipped over on a similar style ride in iowa. Obviously not due to taking off his seatbelt…but there can be some serious danger on these rides.

Having a MOST excellent vacation in Da UP, group of 7, and 2 had never been. Part of the fun was watching them experience the whole thing through new eyes. Also, the weather could not have been more perfect. We all agreed today: huh, we have no idea what's happened in the world the last 5 days. 😀

The namesake of my GPL name g-man, my son Grant, is on the road this morning with the Mankato West football team headed for Augustana College in Sioux Falls for their team football camp.  To me, this starts his senior year of high school...that's crazy.  I know many other GPLer's have walked this same path, I would imagine you would agree that this time is both awesome and sad.  I remember my senior year was the one year of high school that I grew out of my shell and really interacted and took part of things going on in high school besides wrestling.  Grant has already shown signs of that at the end of his junior year during the lacrosse season.

I'm excited to watch his senior class try to repeat as state champs in football, that's a tall task but this class has not lost a game since sixth grade.  They know how to win, the coaches just need to get them to remember that and challenge that.  It's disappointing that Grant has made the decision to forego wrestling this year but he struggled with injuries the past two seasons and wants to be healthier going into lacrosse next spring.  Also, he wants to enjoy a winter off of sports to work and attend some sports events...I can't blame him for that.

My wife has already shed some tears about this upcoming year but she is ready to enjoy it as well.  At least she shared with me yesterday at breakfast that she is looking forward to having me around after our son goes to college, but that may just have been the bloody mary talking.

I am the official Iowa Hawkeye football fan of GPL!

These balloons rock. Fill 100 in less than 60 seconds and you don't have to tie them.  They come pretied!!! I filled over 300 on Father's Day and everyone from kids to adults had a blast.  So, I bought 300 more since we might need to be finding more ways to stay cool for the next week... lol!!!

OK, very cool indeed.

Where were toys like that when I was growing up?

B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?

I volunteered 3 weeks each summer after my Jr. and Sr. years in high school at a Summer Bible Camp. I filled 1,000s of water balloons for afternoon activities. This would’ve made the hours of filling into minutes of filling… lol!!!
