Speaking of expensive, we had dinner at Bricksworth last weekend. Granted we took home an extra pizza, but two orders of wings, a few beers, three pizzas, one crowler to go and a tiny cheesecake dessert was $175 with tax and tip. For two people. ?
The shocking part of this is not the price. It’s the last 2 words.
We do need to define a "few beers" though if you've met Cowgirl's husband
That is pretty ridiculous. We're hoping to get down to Bricksworth on a Friday this summer and check it out along with some of the other south metro breweries.

Your point of clarification is well taken, still seems like the price is really high, though.

I had three 5 oz tasters and a pint of seltzer. He had two or three 10 oz. pours.
The pizzas are rectangular, a little more than one person can eat but not really enough for two, so they aren’t really huge.
We had the boneless wings. I wasn’t impressed with those. Too salty and felt like the sauce was just kind of painted on rather than soaked in a ittle.
Still worth a visit but be prepared if you bring the whole fandamily!
I’ll be curious what you think when you make it down there davescharf!
Here is one person’s rankings of 8 steakhouses in the Twin Cities (doesn’t include chains).
The Nachos Grande, - tomatoes, add beef at Ole Piper in Rosemount. Plus their salsa is off the charts good.

Not sure if this is exactly the thread for this... but it's the closest one we have.
What's the go to spot to get a great burger blend. Peterson Craft Meats Dry-Aged Craftsman Blend Patties might be near the top of the list, but it's a little complicated to acquire.
I know Kowalski's has a short rib patties which are pretty good. Lowry Hill does a 4 oz burger patties blend too. J Morten's has Australian Wagyu burger patties. Lunds Byerlys also does American Wagyu Patty and a Smokey Chuck Burger patty.
Just curious as this is burger season and I had a Parlour burger (chuck, ribeye, brisket) at the Graff Golf Tourney on Friday that has me planning my next burger opp.

Have you considered buying a meat grinder? Throw in a little short rib and some chuck/sirloin to make your own mix. If you have a stand mixer, you would only need a grinder attachment.

Bunny's never recovered from Mike Tice being fired B-)
(honestly that place has sucked for quite a while and the owners were dicks)
Just the NE location closed. I’d been there a few times and it’s not bad but Ray-J’s was just better food wise so there wasn’t much reason to go there.
When it comes to comfort food, it’s hard to beat breakfast pizza.

For you St Paul area folks what would you recommend for restaurants to have dinner at?
we always seem to end up at Cossetta’s or one of the places on Cathedral Hill near WA Frost. Are there places you’d suggest that aren’t stupid expensive but have good food?
Went to The Lex last night, spectacular!

Mucci’s

Saint Dinette
Tori Ramen is the best in the cities but I don’t know if their dining room is opened back up.
Mancini’s (is kind of expensive)
Revival (so good)
Joan’s In The Park (heard good things but haven’t been there)

I loved Mucci’s the one time I went there. My wife for some reason wasn’t impressed.
I just read next week is restaurant week and that both the Lexington and Baldamar are participating.

I love Revival. They opened one in St Louis Park so it’s a lot easier now for us to go there.
Joan’s in the Park is really good.
Couple places we’ve been meaning to try as we’ve heard great things:
Estelle
Gus Gus.
If you want to head a little bit south, check out Kyndred Hearth in Eagan. It’s in the hotel next to the Vikings HQ and it’s also really good.

My liver hates you right now. I may have to make a stop over there
Hit up Northern Taphouse in Plymouth (formerly named Grizzly's). Ho. Lee. Crap. ALL THE TVS. Greatly expanded the space for seating with the new layout, ginormous rail. They are still working on some things, though. They are still in the process of getting taps set up inside (they were supposed to be in last Wed, but they just finished the set up for installation while we were there). Also, the taps will be on an island in the interior of the rail, so you're not sitting in front of tap handles, like many places.
The menu does have some carryover from the old menu, which I like (for me, the most notable ones were the pizza and the jalapeno-infused burger). I went with the turkey sandwich w/bacon and cheese on a pretzel bun (and asked for a side of BBQ sauce, which is way better than the BBQ sauce they used to have). Patio isn't open yet, still installing the back-bar equipment. Our group was having mojitos (delicious) and Old Fashioneds (they were VERY VERY good).
The decor is definitely more modern, and thankfully the prices are still about the same. They just re-opened this past Saturday, so there are things still being tweaked and such, like the taps, adding a rewards program, etc. When this place is 100%, it's going to be really, really nice.
When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.
They opened on Saturday? That explains the private event and why they were closed Friday. The tap list was killer so we were going to try and have a beer or two after work

Yep, on Saturday. The Mgr (the male one) didn't like that they decided to open w/o taps (technically they still have 6 running taps from the patio, but that is a hassle and a half), but it was out of his hands. Even the official Grizzly's website hasn't fully converted over to the rebranding. I think they didn't want to miss out on any more summer business than they had to.

Here are the new foods coming to the MN State Fair this year.
The best:
Minne Hot Hot
Smoked Rib Tips tossed in Nashville Hot Sauce, served with Comeback Sauce.
The worst:
Pickle Pizza
Hand-tossed homemade pizza dough topped with homemade specialty dill ranch sauce, fresh mozzarella and crunchy dill pickles, and finished with dill weed seasoning. (New Vendor)
*I don't hate pickles...
Keep your stick on the ice...
I haven't been to any of these places so I can't vouch (I might try next month when I visit) but this vlogger (who happens to be one of us) is legit. He also did a fun one at the State Fair last year.
Been to the Hi-Lo Diner several times prior to covid. The 'Gary Cooper' is off the charts good and the best thing on the menu I have tried.

I don't dislike pickles. The pickle pizza can burn in hell. Send it to Wisconsin.

OK. A few observations.
- The guy critiquing food has never tried a cheese curd?
- Chicken and waffles is just wrong. I've tried several times. I love both individually. Together. No good.
- That soul food place...makes me want to be near a bathroom.
We ended up going to Baldamar tonight for dinner. Highly recommend checking it out sometime
Stopped for lunch in Minocqua WI at a place called Oakfire. Their pizza is way better than Thirsty Pagan's (whose pizza I hold in high regard). Reasonably priced, too. $20 for a 14" x 8" (square shape) 3-meat (salami, pepperoni, sausage).

I prefer Star Trib old Nelson, who actually reviewed the new food. I always started at the one star items ?. This new Taste critic seems afraid to really give a review. This YouTube guy is just sad.
Note: Due to inflation dirty deeds will no longer be done dirt cheap.
If you ever happen to be in Whitefish, Mt. go to the Bulldog for their ‘Huckleberry Hot Wings’ and down the block and around the corner for pizza at ‘Jersey Boys’.
The huckleberry hot wings are more mild than hot. And I get them light sauce cause I’m more of a dry rub. The wait can be quick or timely, all depending on staff and how busy they are. Plus try to find the Gophers pennant, as well as the Wild and the World Series Champions for the Twins all in ceiling panels. Unfortunately UND and WisconSIN have prime locations you see when you’re at the rail. Plus minors not allowed in the mens bathroom cause of all the nude pictures on the walls.
The pizza at Jersey Boys is by the slice or whole pizza. They have several different styles to choose from. Their waits are from 15 minutes to 2 hrs. all depending on how busy they are because of their popularity. The mgr. must recognize from past visits over the years cause he stated up a lengthy conversation with me.
And if you happen to be there on a Tuesday eve, the Whitefish Farmers Market is going on.

Still really tasty and the huge portions.

I'll have to keep that in mind for a takeout option. It's worth the drive out there.
Wife and I went to Sooki and Mimi this past weekend. Their hangar steak and whitefish dip were both excellent. We were a little disappointed in the tacos we tried but the waitress did try to tell us what we ordered were the least popular ones.
Lat14 is mediocre imho. Never got the hype...

But fried chicken fans need not fear – they can still get their Revival fix a few blocks away.
That's because Revival MPLS isn't so much closing as it is merging with Revival Smoked Meats, which opened in the former Corner Table space at 4537 Nicollet Avenue in May.

Not a restaurant, but Mountain Gold Colorado peaches are in at Bob's Produce Ranch in Fridley. They're there from late-July to mid-Aug every year, and freaking delicious. I drive about 50 miles RT to buy a 16 lb box.

You’re really starting to sound like Bonin 😉
Their Thai Basil wings are some of the best you’ll find anywhere in town and every time we’ve been there the food has been well above average.
I had them...meh. I live like 2 miles from there and wouldn't go out of my way to go there. YMMV
(to be honest though there are a few places I would go to explicitly for wings...its just not something I plan for)
I remember my gf wanted to go there for months and she and her friends all went one night (and they love places like that) and she came back and had very little good to say. We tried it again for her dad's birthday (his choice obviously and he too loves places like that) and I am not sure any of us have gone back since or even brought the place up. Its fine but it is just not really anything special.
I much prefer their other restaurant in Brooklyn Center. Similar food and even have the wings but just more down to earth and great flavors.
No! The Red Ox Cafe in Ham Lake is closing. 🙁 When Jane Fonda (the username, you smart alecs) lived up there and host a get-together, we usually hit up that spot. Just solid food, nothing spectacular, but it fit the bill.

The wife and I went to Ansari’s for her first time. She was very impressed and up for coming back. The ‘Taste of Jerusalem’ is always good. And she had the Fettuccini Alfredo with chicken. Wow… now I have a decision next time!!!

I was there for the Whales And Ales Fest this afternoon. Amazing time. As for "regular" visits, I switch between the gyro stir fry and the lamb burger. The gyro omelet is also very good.

If you are looking for good Middle Eastern food this is a very solid spot in Saint Paul: https://www.zaitzaatar.com/menu
The Shwarma is excellent and if you are looking to try something new I suggest the Kushari. Best I have had outside of Egypt. (there is a place in Troy, MI which has excellent Kushari as well)
Sara's Tipsy Pies at the State Fair (Food Building), Cub and her store in Stillwater as well. Both my wife and I think the Boozy Blueberry-Lemon pie is the best, but the Irish Whisky Pecan pie is a close second. She has several other pies and tarts. I don't know her personally, though we have a mutual friend, so I'll stop by her booth at the Fair and chat. Plus, a percentage of her pie sales will benefit children with special needs via the Down Syndrome Association of Mn, Jack's Basket and The Valley Friendship Club.
