Haven’t there been people who wanted to remain anonymous and their name got leaked anyways? It has to be tough to hide it unless you don’t spend it or don’t change the way you live at all.

That's exactly the way I'd do it, for a long time. Eventually "retire," get a pro to wipe my internet presence, and remain discreet. Establish some sort of shadow company that would buy stuff (think Girl With Dragon Tattoo when she buys the condo), etc.

@jupiter, on the right hand side of the portal page it shows the next 2 games. In the past you also included tv and radio info but not this time. Is tv still not set?
Let me look in to that... I have made so many changes with that plugin lately, I must have clicked something. Let me inviestigate.
Found it!
i noticed last night the schedule page wasn’t showing any of the media info either but looks like that was fixed too. 👍

So has there been any scuttlebutt on fixing the new ice? Theres clearly an issue with it not freezing enough between periods, soft spots near the bench and behind the Gopher net. I’ve never seen them in the past routinely have to come out with a mop to soak up the extra water. It’s pretty sad that we seem to have a crappier surface after the renovations, but I’m sure nothing can be done until after the season. I hope it’s just a matter of tweaking and not built in limitations. I’d hate for this to be what it is going forward.
Note: Due to inflation dirty deeds will no longer be done dirt cheap.

I imagine the unseasonably warm outside temps and a packed inside made this weekend a little more challenging (it was very noticeably warmer in the arena this weekend), but yeah you’d think with the new system they’d be able to adjust better, the ice did not look good.
It’s been bad all season, even when it was sub-zero outside.

I see ice not setting all the way at all the B1G rinks, from what I can tell, so at least part of it is likely the 12 minute intermissions. I'd really love to see them bump the game length up by 4-6 minutes and make the intermissions 14-15 minutes to give time for the water to freeze fully.
But, in addition to that, there's definitely something going on behind the Gopher net. There's an area there that seems to get a pretty big gouge almost every game, plus the constant work they're doing along the boards.
B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?
Totally agree. The ice is not freezing for the 2nd and 3 periods. It’s very noticeable down by the student section corners. They definitely need to figure this out.
I was initially ready to blame the shorter intermissions but we’ve had those now for a number of years. We didn’t have this wet ice last year with the same between period times. It’s the new freezing mechanics in the rink sub-structure, it’s not doing its job.Totally agree. The ice is not freezing for the 2nd and 3 periods. Years ago we had in floor heat installed in our bathroom. It was never warm no matter how high we turned the dial. Thank heavens I took photos of the installation (just for our own house history). We noticed the “wires” were spread really far apart, like one loop of wire around the floor. It was supposed to be spaced in a 4” pattern of continuous rows. Armed with my photos they had to completely redo our tiled floor at their expense. I’m pretty sure the initial installer was fired as it cost them thousands. I certainly hope the new rink ice making coils were properly done!

We most certainly have had wet ice between periods for years. Maybe not the specific soft spots, but the first few minutes of play in the second and third periods have been on wet ice since COVID hit

When we did have 15 minute intermissions, they didn't always resurface right away. There always used to be some sort of game for a few minutes on the ice and then they resurfaced.
It does look bad and takes about 4-5 minutes into the period before the wet spots are finally frozen. Maybe it's tinkering with the coils or fixing the intermission time or a little bit of both.
Can anyone confirm if this was ever true. It sounds fake.
Plans for the Metropolitan Sports Complex in Bloomington, Minnesota, that never came to full realization. The Met Center arena (home to the North Stars) and Met Stadium (home to the Twins, Vikings, and Kicks) were built. The plans also included a third stadium facility that would have been the eventual home for the Vikings and Kicks.
Keep your stick on the ice...
Before the dome was built there were a lot of scenarios being tossed around and I vaguely remember something in the paper like this but I cannot remember for sure.
EDIT - there were a lot of crazy ideas being thrown around and as it became more obvious something would be built in DT Minneapolis it would not surprise me if Bloomington tried to stay relevant in the stadium chase. Probably like the first 10-12 Twins stadium proposals that never went anywhere.

Not far-fetched. I was a season ticket holder for the one season we had an arena football team (MN Fighting Pike, Target Center) and I got a letter for a possible professional league roller hockey stadium at that location a year or three after the arena football team folded. They were gauging interest in season ticket holders, asking for money up-front. I wisely ignored the letter. It wasn't a scam, but I knew that venture would never work.

BTW I was asking THE Craig Flor about this earlier in the season and the first couple weeks of the season they were using the truck trailer chiller unit that was strained, but they were very happy with the system once it was hooked up. The other main guy at the rink, Adam Stirn, called the system a Ferrari of chillers and it was working better than expected. I agree that the time between periods is very tight for getting the ice to set, but the staff is confident that everything at the rink is setup correctly..
They definitely have some issues with the ice right in front of me. Some areas with large gouges, and constantly patching one area against the boards between every period.
B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?
This came up at the beginning of the season too... I mentioned then that I don't know anything about what the rink should look and feel like, but it definitely is not the same as last year, and I definitely have noticed puddle-like areas--but as I said then, I wonder if it is just the difference in lighting moving to more LED based lights that are less diffused in general so the reflections are more pronounced. Just a thought...
Does the state have any say when school districts have spring break? Do they encourage school districts to pick a week and stick to it? I know of school districts on break this week, next (ours... 196) and the following. I'm the the entertainment industries like them spread out.

Quick answer is the districts get to decide.
Spring breaks often depend on if the school district is on trimesters, quarters, or semesters. They will often try to have spring break be at the end of one of those terms (with the exception of semesters as it would just land somewhere in the middle). The late spring breaks are typically the schools with quarters whereas trimesters would come a little earlier. Semesters it doesn't really matter so it's just up to the local district.
Thanks. I'm pretty sure majority of school districts is next week. Followed by this and the week following next. I couldn't imagine trying to do something locally if the whole state had the same week off. It looks crazy for doing anything when it's spread out over 3 weeks, maybe more.

Anoka Hennepin was last week. They're always early and conflict with youth region and state hockey tournaments, which is irritating as hell. This year we were torn between rooting for our kid's team to make state (requiring us to cut our vacation short....at great expense) or losing in regionals and enjoying the full vacation.
We ended up enjoying the full vacation.

Yep - Anoka Hennepin is trimesters. Spring break at end of tri 2.
My athletic subscription renews in a few weeks.
I only read for a few hockey articles a year so am debating cancelling.
I recall someone maybe mentioning a way of getting a lower rate? If anyone remembers or is willing to share it would be appreciated.
Also, can we go back to calling this thread - “this might be a dumb question”? 😬
Usually if you cancel they offer you a 50% off discount.

They are running a $1 a month for 12 months special... BUT, it is for new subscribers only. Maybe if you cancel and sign up with another email in your household, you could do the deal. The offer ends on March 31st...
I'm 50% factual and 50% sarcastic. When you get to know me, you will know which is which.
I can give it a try…!
Has anyone else here had success just using a different email address each year to get the promo rate? I would think they check other parameters too like your address or credit card or something but 🤷♀️
I cancelled - first pop up said oh hey we'll give you a year at $24.99 (with no mention of which year…) as I remember fight club saying they pulled one over on him and said after renewing found out the low price was for the year after the one renewing.
So thankful I remembered that! Will try the $1 new sign up and if that doesn’t work just wait for the emails begging for me to come back. They wanted $72. 💸
Went and looked at my subscription and realized I’ve been paying $72/year. Unfortunately my subscription was paid for again last November. Hopefully I remember to cancel next time.
For as much as I think there are more negatives than positives in the WNBA. The one thing I really like about the WNBA is their draft. They combine team's records for the last 2 seasons. Like it enough to see the NBA, NFL, NHL and MLB to follow.

I have so many popup calendar reminders in Outlook telling me it is time to cancel free trials and memberships that it gets really annoying. But less annoying that seeing the renewals on my credit card statement.

So I guess this format kills any chance of the Lynx getting Beuckers next season, but also increases the chance that Indiana gets Clark and Beuckers.
What’s with the big craze with the new black out license plates?!?!?! I’m seeing them more and more on vehicles.

Pretty simple... people like them.

So very sheeple like...

It’s a new design they recently started offering I believe.
Given that they had a backlog of orders before the first ones went out, I wouldn't say "sheeple-like" It's just that people like the look.

I won’t lie, they look pretty sharp on a white or black vehicle. Or on the front on cars that have the plate in the middle of the grille.

Agreed. It would look horrible on a car like mine (canary yellow), but all black or all white vehicle? That'd work.

I see they are also offering a Vikings, Twins, Wild, Wolves and even Lynx. Surprised they don’t offer another version for the ‘U’.

Because they've had them for all the major universities in the state for many years. (Note that this list pre-dates the blackouts and pro sports... it's from 2014)I see they are also offering a Vikings, Twins, Wild, Wolves and even Lynx. Surprised they don’t offer another version for the ‘U’.

Very much sheeple like… Minnesota only followed like 12 (give or take) states.

Thanks for the reminder. I’ve been paying and I don’t even read it
Cant you cancel it now and it will end on your last day like pretty much every other subscription out there?
