4. I've been home brewing since 2005. I've got a couple of recipes that are always a hit (Final Five on west 7th

I got hooked on home brewing last winter. I've had a Honey Kolsch fermenting for 6 weeks now. I think it's time to either bottle or transfer to secondary. The decision depends on how clear it is.

Really what was fun was that they served top shelf scotch and I fell deeply in love with Oban 18. Currently I am a huge fan of Auchentoshan.

Oban was the first single malt I fell in love with, and the Three Wood Auchentoshan is quite good.

I very much like the three wood. That was one of them that I tried on the tour.

If I go back to Scotland I want to go to the lagavulin distillery. My uncle and I enjoy drinking that.

Having not been to nearly that many Camden Yards is just beyond words. Probably my favourite that I’ve been to. Their use of that warehouse is super cool.

I haven’t been to SF or Pittsburgh and I’ve heard they are the top dogs.

Top 3

Pittsburgh (beautiful especially at night)

Wrigley (Go Cubs Go)

San Francisco

Bottom 3

Oakland (a shitty stadium in a shitty part of town, worst ballpark I've ever been to)

Tampa Bay (ugly and hard to get to/from)

Houston (hard to describe, just ugly)

I would put Target Field in my top ten, maybe 9 or 10.

I’m on a quest to see them all and have only been to a handful. Pittsburgh is great. I really like Safeco, and probably mostly because of the views. Tampa’s was epic....

1. I was born in St. Paul at what is now United Hospital, moved to Muncie, Indiana a year later, moved to Austin, Texas when I was seven, and then back up here when I was nine. I consider myself a native Minnesotan, dammit.

2. I have a degree in Culinary Arts, one in Management, and a third in Food Science. I'm going to go for a Masters in Food Science this fall. I currently train school bus drivers.

3. I was in a medically-induced coma for four days in April of 2018. Some of you may remember that; I do not. Mr. Green

4. To piggyback on the Tall One's post, I've been to 24 MLB ballparks, 17 current ones. The seven non-current ones are Tiger Stadium, old Yankee Stadium, Shea Stadium, The Ballpark in Arlington, County Stadium, Veterans Stadium, and Riverfront Stadium. Ask Viking about my visit to Old Yankee.

5. My biggest regret in life is passing on tickets to the 2002 championship game because I didn't have enough cash on hand.

6. I played baseball growing up, and didn't get into hockey until senior year of high school when I became an Avalanche fan due to a love of Colorado. I am no longer an Avs fan. Rat bastards.

7. I got drilled in the head by a puck shot by a North Dakota player that caromed off the crossbar during warmups. I was standing behind the rail above Section 13 enjoying a delicious Famous Dave's corn muffin. It hurt and I swore a lot. If I hadn't been standing there, the puck would have hit a Gopher player's grandmother, so you're welcome.

Ok, fine.

1) Born in Minneapolis and raised in St. Louis Park.

2) I don't remember when I started skating and playing hockey...4? 5? I played all the way up until my sophomore year in HS at Benilde-St. Margaret's.

3) Went to UND where I got a degree in Aeronautics, and earned my commercial pilot's certificate with instrument at multi-engine ratings.

4) A UND football player in my dorm sophomore year was a 5th round pick of the Denver Broncos and ended up being a co-captain and a pro-bowler.

5) After spending 4 years working for a regional airline started with a major airline as an aircraft dispatcher in October and hoping I will still have a job at the end of the year.

6) I told the North Dakota players to shoot pucks at Armadillo.

With half the fans looking at their phones these days it's a damn good thing they have the nets protecting the end zone seats.

I was at a high school game and a player tried to clear the puck and it came over the glass. I raised my left hand and deflected it up another 6-7 rows. Lady sitting next to me with her head in her phone would have caught it right in the head. The momentum caused my hand to hit her in the shoulder. She gave me the "how dare you look". Another lady behind her told her what happened and she said "oh" and put her head back in her phone. My hand was black and blue for a long time.

Once at a Red Baron Final Five the puck came wizzing over the glass, I reached up with one hand and caught it perfectly! Just like A League of Their Own!

Everyone was clapping and commenting to my husband (!) about his fabulous wife :dup: But about 5 minutes later I leaned over and said “ I think I broke a finger”. Yup, my right ring finger was broken. I refused to leave the game so the EM guys splinted it up lol. I still have the puck.

Note: Due to inflation dirty deeds will no longer be done dirt cheap.

CRHS 2001? I was in the '03 class but moved after my freshman year (I wasn't recruited to a high profile school lol)

2001 indeed. I didn't play after my freshman year. One reason was I became I big band nerd, and the other reason was it being the one sport CR is good at so you had to be real good.

Unfortunately I only knew it as a rumor as well. I heard him say it, but he was a known bullshitter. Mr. Green

I played a season with Dierks Bentley when I was stationed at Ft Campbell (an hour from Nashville). He was decked out in Edmonton Oilers gear after getting the full treatment from the origination after his concert. He rented out the Predators home rink after he hit #1 on the charts for our team, but I was deployed at the time so I didn't get to go. I skated by as he was doing his "get to know Dierks Bentley" on one of the country music channels.

I’m going to try and ask a simple question each day this month for us to answer. Just silly info, nothing to fight over :biggrin2:

Today’s question: what’s your favorite COCKTAIL? Not beer. Not wine. Cocktail.

Mine is a Sidecar. The classic I judge all bartenders ability on.

Note: Due to inflation dirty deeds will no longer be done dirt cheap.

I have always been more a beer drinker so I'm definitely not a "cocktail" kind of guy if you stick to the use of the term. Last year though I did start drinking bourbon. I found that I am a big fan of Buffalo Trace bourbon, three fingers, with diet ginger ale.

I am the official Iowa Hawkeye football fan of GPL!

Jamaican Ten Speed from the Ambo.

Although, I did just discover the vodka gimlet, thanks to a friend’s wife.

If you're going to make it that simple... Macallan 25 neat.

I like most anything fruity but my go to especially for your places with non-artisan cocktails is cranberry juice and pear vodka.

In no particular order and the list could be longer but:

Crown

Jameson & Jameson Black

Jack

Elmer T Lee

I W Harper

Etc.

Just a little ice, sometimes.

Anyone that puts anything but ice (I don’t) in The Macallan deserves to be haunted by a malevolent ghost.

I don't consider whiskey & coke a cocktail so much so I'll go with Colorado Bulldog or White Russian.

I haven't had one in forever but a well made long island tea (top shelf) is delicious. Anything less than top shelf is crap.

Runners up:

Whiskey old fashioned (Wisconsin style)

Vodka martini (rocks/dirty)

Mint Julep

Go to:

Jack and Coke

IF I had a bottle of Macallan 25 it would be ensconced permanently in bubble wrap. Shock :D

For a drink probably a bourbon Manhattan (up) - when done right it's fantastic.

I would leave the top available for pouring! The way my hands sweat that would be the one bottle I'd drop..... :ahhh:

Doesn't a drink have to be a mixture of ingredients to be called a cocktail?

For an actual cocktail, Manhattan, with Rye, as God intended.

If Viking's option is allowed, it would be a couple ounces of good whisk(e)y, neat. Exactly WHICH one changes based on my mood.

B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?

Just one cocktail--At the Final5 some years ago. My wife is a dentist and one of the Hygienists in her office also tents bar near the X. So we stop in there and after dinner she came over and asked us if we wanted a drink. I asked her to make up a dessert drink for us. She didn't know any in particular, so she made her own mix. It was really good. The next time she saw my wife, she said she was a bit worried about us because apparently it was almost all alcohol. :drunk:

For me it’s a Manhattan or a very dirty Vodka Martini.
