Just got news that Rare Beer Picnic (Moorhead, MN) does NOT coincide with the MI (kinda GPL) trip this year. I get to go, assuming I can get a ticket. My buddies already have rooms booked (I believe at Brewhalla, the Drekker hotel). I am pumped.

I can neither confirm nor deny having a shower whiskey (or shower beer) at some point in my life. But, that pic is a level of dedication that is beyond my pay grade, so to speak. That is impressive.
That being said, got some Ghost In The Machine from Parish Brewing in our store right now, and that is some OG goodness.

I'm 100% certain I have never had a shower-whiskey, nor a shower-beer.
Hot-tubs obviously don't count, because, of COURSE I've had several hot-tub whiskies.

I have heard...after a long day's hard work, where you are sweating like a turkey the day before Thanksgiving, a shower beer is quite refreshing. That's the rumor.

I’ve had both a shower beer/cocktail. I even had cereal with root beer schnapps. Don’t ask… it was 1995.

I’m jealous of @vegoe during OT on the podcast. I pretty much quit drinking, a very, very casual beer drinker. And his Wed night choices look so good.

Be honest… who’s been here before… the one carrying or the one being caried?!?!?!

Pretty much anything Drekker does is gold.

I’m going to have to choose wisely next time I’m at Ansari’s.

If one does not scout out the website before they arrive at Ansari's, one has failed. 😉 Same goes for Northern Taphouse (nee Grizzly's) in Plymouth. One must choose wisely...

I was talking to one of my coworkers at the clinic and him and his wife were walking in, as these two were leaving... lol!!!

Had Boom Island and Bobbing Bobber Brewing in for tastings yesterday. Boom had a very nice Coffee/Vanilla Blonde, and BBB had a Peach Cream Ale that was quite refreshing.

Been to Bobbing Bobber once. They had one decent beer: Blonde Coffee Stout. Probably the same one you're talking about.Had Boom Island and Bobbing Bobber Brewing in for tastings yesterday. Boom had a very nice Coffee/Vanilla Blonde, and BBB had a Peach Cream Ale that was quite refreshing.
I will cut you.

I have had a number of beers in my sauna…

I'm 50% factual and 50% sarcastic. When you get to know me, you will know which is which.
That is real, and they named the beer Blow Back.

I admire his commitment to the job. A lot of workers would have high-tailed it out of there. Very lucky he wasn't hurt.
On the news that Fair State filed bankruptcy, 😥 , that is (was) my favorite pilsner. Hopefully, they can come out of it.
One of those things that just happens. You’re told never stand in front of a valve. Though you always do and you may never have a valve explode. Almost guarantee next time he won’t stand directly in front.

Can you imagine driving home and getting pulled over...
When I was in college, I was a delivery driver for Erberts and Gerberts for the store in downtown Mpls. I had a system while delivering. When I delivered to the gentlemen clubs, I would offer the guys waiting for a cab ride back to their hotels. This one time I picked up 3 drunks who just stunk of liquor. While diving to their hotel, I got pulled over and the cop smelt all the liqueur. So he made me get out and talk to him, proving I wasn't drinking.
It was the best gig. Cause E&G provided the car and gas. So, all tips for delivering subs and driving people around was straight cash. I would also call around to other restaurants and trade subs for better food.

Tried "Backmasking" from 3Floyds (oatmeal stout) and "French Toast Stout" (maple, cinnamon, and vanilla) from WeldWerks today. Both are amazing.

Dragon's Milk Triple Mash (18.7%) is out, and I tell ya, it's a banger. Holy buckets is it good. It DOES taste a little boozy, but not 18% boozy. Dangerous.

Surprised it isn’t in a bag like their milk is.
Orange Peel Patio Crusher (blonde ale infused with orange peel) just got tapped today at LTD Brewing in Hopkins.
1. Not their best offering, but easily my favorite.
2. This means I don't even have to order, officially, until that is tapped out. They know what I'm getting; today, I got three steps into the place, and my glass was already half-full being poured. 😉

Gotta love being a known regular. I remember that from my OC days... half the time walking in, before I made it to the bar area, a bartender had my Summit EPA in my mug and was just watching to see where they needed to hand it.Orange Peel Patio Crusher (blonde ale infused with orange peel) just got tapped today at LTD Brewing in Hopkins.

I can't say that the LTD Sunday Crew are regulars at Mainstreet Bar in Hopkins, but when we walk in, they are already grabbing the Macallan 12 bottle. I mean, a 2-3 finger pour for $11? Yeah, that's why we're there. 😉 That's the only thing we order when we go.

Back Channel Members Party tonight, which meant free beer, including some special taps, and a bottle share. To sum THAT up, a LOT of stouts. Bottle Logic, Angry Chair, Surly, Toppling Goliath, Trillium, Gnosis, Pulpit Rock, many others. Fellow current and ex-GPLers were there (Viking, Worthless, davescharf) as members (and members all got a +1, too), basically had our own little Gopher table rockin'. PERFECT weather, too.
All the beer was amazing, and it was especially fun when someone at the table tried something they never heard of, and then their eyes got wide when they tasted it.

I think I still have a can or two of the “puffs” from Angry Chair from a visit last year the day after that one game in Tampa. They do have some good stuff. And I’m still angry. 😂
@the-rube That stout from Gnosis is the first thing I’ve had in a long time where the entire table went ‘wow’. Hell, I don’t know Robbie well at all and his reaction was that too. Best beer I’ve had in a really long time and I pretty much only drank Treehouse and Trillium the second half of last year.
last night was a lot of fun hanging out. Getting up for work today really sucked because I didn’t realize just how much I drank until I was about halfway home.

That Gnosis was sick. I enjoyed the moments like when the table asked "What is a Bottle Logic" and you and I would grin ear to ear. "They're good."

Southern Tier Orange Twist.
Collaboration with a local (to them) ice cream place, it's a creamsicle in a bottle. They are known for their dessert beers (creme brule, chocolate mint) and this one is definitely on that level.

Since I very seldom drink anymore. I need to start sending you the beer menu of where I’m going for dinner on nights that I will have a beer or 2. And have you give me recommendations… lol!!!
I’m so out of the loop now that I can’t keep track of what to pick. And when I see a menu, I just can’t decide because I don’t know which one I should have or which two I should have. End up just being boring and going with an old stand by like Nordeast.

Along those lines, buddy had a BBQ today, and we're still working on drinking through the various Black Is Beautiful beers he has (around 200 different ones).
Backstory: A brewery in TX open-sourced a recipe I think around 2020-2021, told others to put their spin on that recipe, but they had to call it BIB, and donate profits to charity. Over 1200 breweries did so. All were stouts of some sort.
Last Labor day, our small group cracked about 2 dozen, and 1 in 4 were bad. Today, 1 in 4 were good. 🙁 The common thread was the overall brewery's reputation, and how they packaged their version (bottle, hand-filled crowler, machine-filled crowler, adjuncts, etc).
For example: Junkyard was rated the best, while Fair State was one of the worst. The latter literally was brown water. Had no taste. It was almost impressive on how that worked...

Buddy went to 3 Floyd's Dark Lord Days this year, and hooked me up with a regular and a Scotch BA version, at cost. Of course, it'll be 3-4 years before I crack 'em, but that's a win.

Tried a 9 Mile Brewing (Bloomington) Rye IPA today, and it was tasty. I will admit, for me to like a non-hazy/NE IPA is rare, for the record. I can think of 2 others, and 2 others only (Sculpin from Ballast Point and Pliny from Rush River).

Heading up to Rare Beer Picnic in Moorhead this weekend. First time going, as it usually coincides with the (unofficial) GPL MI UP Summer Trip. Staying at Brewhalla in Fargo, which Drekker apparently owns, or whatever. Looking forward to whatever goes down!

I’ll be curious to hear about the hotel, which was not finished when we were in Fargo for regionals last year but it’s supposed to have Drekker beer-themed rooms. Yes, it’s all part of a big marketplace/brewery/hotel complex. Have fun!
