As good as Cooley has looked in the last two games he won't have nearly the time and space tonight against a much more skilled opponent. Then again, he has the skill to create time and space and use his linemates (including Knies) effectively. Really looking forward to see how he does! Puck drop in less than 30 minutes.

GO USA!

What a great shift by the Knies-Cooley-Coronato line!

I didn’t see what happened to result in the need for the nose tampons.

Got a little close for comfort at the end, but another good win for the red white and blue!

I'm just glad that Faber is ok after taking the CFB/Boarding hit. IIRC, Nate Hagemo got injured at a World Juniors and was never the same.

I would also like to say that I'm not a fan of Starman. He is very knowledgeable about the game, but he comes across as a name dropper and a bit full of himself. Maybe it is because I know he is a cheerleader for the NCHC. I just wish he would dial it back a bit. I can only imagine that when he calls Ciskie that it is a very long conversation between blowhards.

I don't know of a bigger name dropper than Starman.  Every chance he gets.

When he showed a picture on TV of Grant Potulny and him on a boat, that was next level. Even Pierre Mcguire would be impressed.

I like what I've seen so far.  A bit more of a let-up late in the Sweden game than I'd have preferred, but they'd built up enough of a lead, and kept working hard enough to still come away with the win.

Also, Go Switzerland (not that I'm holding my breath on that one, of course)

B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?

I LOVE watching hockey at this level, and this year is no exception. Great hockey! But why does the only undefeated team in the tourney get the late night game tonight? What's the rationale to put this team at a distinct disadvantage?

Probably tv.  I’m happy I get to watch live, even after a full night of da Beuty league games!

Most of USAs games have been the late ones.  And Canada was every bit as undefeated, they get the prime time game.

They looked like dogshit 2nd period. I think we all know they can be better and expected them to win so hopefully they figure it out in the third, they’re clearly capable. The breakout and neutral zone play need to improve though or they’re never gonna dominate the chance/possession differential.

Pulled the goalie and promptly gave one up.  4-2 with a minute and a half left.  Go USA!

Just an awful game all around to watch. The refs nearly called nothing other than the five min penalties. The game was fairly even other than an unlucky deflection against (which kinda negated by Cooley’s goal off a misplay) and a bad goal against Mbereko. USA had some chances but for the most part they came far too late when the team was trying to overcome a deficit.

Oh well, at least Cooley and Knies got to play together and develop some chemistry before gopher season.

This tourney seemed just like the Olympics. Team USA was cruising but when it counted they crapped the bed. Disappointing.

I only watched the first and part of the second so take this for what it's worth; you have to want it and the Czechs just seemed to want it more.  The US played well but they didn't seem to be as emotionally vested in the game as the Czechs did.  Maybe it was different in the third?

Is Cooley ok? Saw he got hit on a knee to knee play.

He played the rest of the game, so I hope so. That said, it could swell up afterwards.

You could tell Czechia wanted it more pretty much throughout the whole game. Their legs were fresher from the opening puck drop. Good analysis of other factors here:

A Canadian city can’t win a Stanley Cup for Canada. Team Canada can’t win an Olympic gold medal for Canada. So gold at the World Jrs is their country’s Super Bowl.
