how can the Whioux still be at #3 in pairwise after getting swept by CC?
the distance for the top 3 was a lot greater than around 4-8

I see the Frozen 4 as Gophers Mich State Denver and the Whioux
Aloha!

That’d be a lot of fun but you don’t think either Boston team is going to make it? Both squads look pretty solid.
then the Final Gophers beat the Whioux!
Love it! On a Snuggy one timer with 0.6 left to go!
I would be pretty shocked if neither Boston team makes the Frozen 4.
I am not a Michigan State believer. I think they penalize themselves out of the F4.
The Gopher have all the pieces if we can put them together for the regional.
Based on the ranks above for matchups I would take Denver, UND, BU, and the homer pick for the Gophers. If I had to put money on it I would take BC over us.
I might pick CC with an upset regional winner.

On a Mike Koster short handed goal with 0.6 left.
BC and BU will both get easy 1st round games against the AHA and CCHA champs. Going to make it a whole lot easier to get out of the regional. Quinny, Minnesota, and CC play styles that could given BC and BU trouble though and Maine and Denver have already beaten BC this year. Would really hope to avoid BC for as long as we can. BU seems much more beatable.

Fish shorthanded goal. It’s gotta be a senior with no goals on the year😉

The only problem right now is we’re stuck in the 8,9 rut in the pairwise where we’ll be sent to the #1 overall (BC) region. If we truly want to avoid BC (I don’t really care I think we can beat anyone in single elim) then we need to find a way to get up to 7 which is proving difficult. Or drop to 10 which is the less sexy option lol
I can remember plenty of Gopher teams dripping with NHL talent that got ousted from the tournament by teams playing not to lose.
This Minnesota team has some high-end talent, but I think its winning formula lies in keeping the puck out of their net. Last year's team could run circles around anybody--until they scored two stinking goals in the final, one by a defensive center and another by a fourth liner. The NHL-ready players who made headlines all season were shut down completely.
BC and BU are a bit like Minnesota's team last year, and, arguably, not as good. If Minnesota wants to beat them, they'll need to play like they did in the stretch before giving up six goals to Notre frickin' Dame.
I remember back in the 80s the WCHA and hockey east would play games during the season and the wins would be registered as conference games they would switch locations the next season so one year it’s a home series next season it was a road series

I’d probably fly out to that regional. would be really fun hockey games, especially when we knock out the defending champ followed by the odds on favorite
Yes we would fly out to that regional also
For those who missed it, last night there was an interesting game between ASU and Alaska Fairbanks. Not only did ASU lose and that was the final nail in their NCAA hopes, there was a ton of penalties in the final few minutes, including players coming out of the penalty boxes to fight. The game was called with 11 seconds left. ASU will fit right in next year in the NCHC and their coach is easily the biggest A Hole in hockey. As former AWA "president" Wally Karbo would say--- There will be fines and suspensions.

With no Gophers hockey, I ended up having to settle for driving up to St. Cloud last night. Alex Bump is actually really good. Am watching again tonight after the Tonka EP game. Nothing can replace the Gophers, but we're really blessed to have a lot of options in our back yard 😆😆😆

Michigan sweeps Notre Dame. They come to Mariucci 3 points behind the Gophers.

Good ‘ol CHN said the game started at 7 central, my surprise to flip over and see a final at 7:53pm 🙄
Win Friday and let's put the regular season to restMichigan sweeps Notre Dame. They come to Mariucci 3 points behind the Gophers.
Michigan with the sweep moves up to #13 in Pairwise.
Cornell was down 2-0 to #54 St. Lawrence but just scored twice with their goalie pulled the tying goal was with 6 seconds left to send the game to OT.
I think the most favorable first round matchup for the Gophers is going to be Maine. I’d love to draw them first.
Maine gets shut out at home tonight 4-0 by Northeastern. The loss drops Maine to #9 and moves the Gophers up to #8.
St. Cloud beats Western Michigan 3-0 and moves up #11 dropping Western Michigan to #12, U Mass to #13, and Michigan to #14.
U Mass was up 3-2 but New Hampshire tied it up with just over 2 minutes left and won it OT.
Cornell and St. Lawrence ends in a 2-2 tie.
Duluth gets swept and has now lost 6 games in a row.
Their last 2 regular season series are at Colorado College and then St. Cloud at home.
Their most likely 1st round playoff series is at St. Cloud (7 seed vs. 2 seed).
It would be the third year in a row Duluth played at St. Could in the first round of the NCHC playoffs. Each time playing St. Cloud two straight weekends (last regular season weekend and first round of the playoffs).

In their 6 game losing streak Duluth has been out scored 29-12.
Yep the refs are clearly screwing the Bulldogs to the tune of 3 goals per game. 😉

Omaha out shoots Colorado College 42-19 but the games ends in a tie 1-1.
In the 2nd and 3rd periods Omaha out shot CC 29-6.
Omaha scored with just under 3 minutes left to break the shut out.

That guy is such a clown, I’ve never seen someone bitch more about referees.
It just keeps getting tighter. The current RPIs (the most important part of Pairwise) with the quality win bonus for teams #10-#15
Providence .5611
Western Michigan .5608
St. Cloud .5601
U Mass .5585
CC .5585
Michigan .5575
This is why PWR drives people insane. 😀 It's awesome.

Western Michigan at North Dakota
St. Cloud home against Denver
U Mass home and home series against U Mass-Lowell
Colorado College home against Duluth
Michigan at Gophers

Going to be a pretty wild last couple weeks with the PWR volatility at the cut line, 2 for sure AQs and about 9 teams that are locks/almost locks at present (the RPI difference from #9 Maine to #10 Providence, 0.013, is less than that from Providence to #16 Cornell). Add into that the ECAC now looks like Quinnipiac as the only AL team with everyone else being bid stealers and the bubble is going to get very tight.
Next week
Providence @ #31 Merrimack (what we would be a RPI hit if they don't sweep)
SCSU vs Denver
WMU @ UND
UMass @ #38 UML (also a RPI killer if UMass doesn't sweep)
Michigan @ MN (may as well smoke them and make them have to win the BTT)
CC vs a reeling #27 UMD team
Cornell at home vs a bad #40 Union team and an even worse #54 Rensselaer team
UNH @ BC
Omaha @ #45 Miami (ditto to Umass and Cornell)
Only a couple who really can solidify/skyrocket their RPI this week (SCSU, WMU, Michigan, UNH) and the rest hoping to not get get spoiled/bumped like we saw happen to Cornell with their OTL and tie to Clarkson (#38) and St Lawrence (#54) who now almost certainly has to win out and at least get to the ECAC final to have a chance at an AL bid because they have no one beneficial on the schedule left until Quinnipiac in the ECAC title game (no one else in the ECAC is above #30 in the PWR)
Based on the probability matrix that was updated this morning here is what it is showing for % to make the NCAA tournament (AL = at large, AQ = automatic qualifier).
U Mass 78% - (72% AL, 6% AQ)
Western Michigan 73% - (65% AL, 8% AQ)
St. Cloud 69% - (56% AL, 13% AQ)
Providence 70% - (64% AL, 6% AQ)
Michigan 65% - (53% AL, 12% AQ)
Colorado College 51% - (42% AL, 9% AQ)
Cornell 49% - (19% AL, 30% AQ)
So next weekend Badddgers host Mich State for final weekend series this could be a really ugly outcome I would not like Madison hosting Big Ten tournament

Go State!

They only host their home games, not the entire tournament. I'd like to see they take out MSU next weekend. Then in a few weeks, the semi is MI at UW and MN at MSU... I think MN can easily take out MSU at home. And MI could take out UW.
So then we get MN vs MI for the title for a 3rd year in a row at Mariucci.
That is IF MN can get at least 2 points next weekend.

Looking at the standings, does OSU have a chance at the 6 seed or have they wrapped up the 7 seed? I tried looking up the tiebreakers since a sweep of PSU would put the two teams into a tie, but with the Big Ten website being the Big Ten website, I'm not really sure I'm looking at the right set of rules.

Tiebreakers:
a) Regular season points percentage between tied teams - Still a tie for the season split
b) Greater number of Conference Regulation Wins - Assuming a 6 pt weekend for OSU, would be OSU 6 regulation wins, PSU 5
B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?
Ohio State would win the tie breaker. They would have 14 conference wins to PSU’s 13. Penn State swept OSU earlier in the season. So if Ohio State happens to sweep PSU, they would be 2-2 in head to heads.
Keep your stick on the ice...
Oh okay, thx. So that means all 3 matchups the final weekend have teams battling for a particular seed.

Yes…
Michigan/Minnesota… 3rd & 4th.
wisconSIN/Mich. St… 1st & 2nd.
OSU/PSU… 6th & 7th.
And the playoffs can be set if the Gophers, PSU and Sparty all win Friday night.
