1:28 Jûpe He doesn't know how. 1:30 Jûpe And I don't blame him. 1:31 Jûpe He's like, I, we just had a great weekend at Michigan. 1:35 Jûpe Now we get creamed seven to one. 1:40 Vegoe Yeah, I think that's the problem with young teams is you don't know what you're going to get every night. 1:45 Vegoe And when things aren't going well, sometimes it's hard to fight through it. 1:50 Vegoe And I think we saw that on Thursday, you know, the first period was kind of so, so OK. 1:56 Vegoe But in the second period, the game just slipped away. 2:00 Vegoe And this team, you know, in some of those nights, they've just had a hard time finding their way back into positive hockey. 2:06 Vegoe And it's almost like they need a day to reset and come at it again the next night. 2:12 Vegoe And at this time of the year, you don't have many nights like that where you can get away with that. 2:18 Vegoe And especially looking forward now, they can't have that at all. 2:23 Jûpe That's exactly what Bob said in our little intro there. 2:25 Jûpe It's like, yeah, it's for all the marbles now, basically, Viggs. 2:31 Jûpe Terrible night. 2:32 Jûpe We obviously know that. 2:34 Jûpe They followed up the next night. 2:36 Jûpe A tie in the books, get the shootout win, three shootouts in the row this year. 2:42 Jûpe They never had two shootout wins in a row ever in their history. 2:47 Jûpe So apparently a bad season equals good season on shootouts. 2:51 Vegoe Apparently, they're more focused on the shootouts. 2:53 Vegoe I don't know what's going on, but they're just happy to be there whereas before they're still mad that they got to the shootout to begin with. 2:59 Vegoe But they've got some talent in the shootout. 3:02 Vegoe You know, LJ Mooney is certainly one that's fun to watch. 3:05 Vegoe Javon Moore, you know, we've talked to Jack Ramsey about him, and he's a super skilled big guy. 3:11 Vegoe And when you've got that kind of wingspan coming down in the shootout, you can do a lot of things that will give goaltenders troubles and he's been good for them. 3:19 Vegoe And Bernie Zimmer has been a good shootout player for Minnesota this year, but he didn't come through on Friday. 3:27 Jûpe Zach Weiss got one minute and 39 seconds of action of his entire career. 3:35 Jûpe One save, but boy, that was a big moment for his, you know, his family was up in a suite making all this noise. 3:42 Jûpe The crowd was making noise. 3:44 Jûpe The players were going nuts for him. 3:46 Jûpe Boy, that felt really good, Viggs. 3:49 Vegoe Yeah, I was a little worried after the first whistle that they were just going to pull him out after that. 3:54 Vegoe And you could see Moths and Luca kind of look at each other and they're like, ah, let them let them make a save, you know, and thank goodness you made that save. 4:03 Vegoe You know, that's always the concern, I think, when you take a chance like that. 4:06 Vegoe But, you know, total program guy, you know, Zach was an offensive lineman in high school. 4:11 Vegoe And I think he kind of took that same attitude to being a goalie in the program. 4:17 Vegoe You know, just do whatever it takes. 4:18 Vegoe Really unselfish, you know, practice habits. 4:23 Vegoe Teammates love him. 4:25 Vegoe And nice to see him get that opportunity. 4:26 Vegoe He had a big smile on his face when he came into the postgame on Friday. 4:30 Jûpe He certainly did. 4:31 Jûpe It was kind of first, well, his only postgame media has ever done. 4:37 Jûpe He did pretty good there. 4:38 Jûpe So that was great to see. 4:39 Vegoe That might be his only media he's done. 4:41 Vegoe I don't know if he's come out during the week either. 4:43 Vegoe So it's good to see Zach out there. 4:46 Jûpe Yeah, he probably hasn't. 4:51 Jûpe So two out of four points, Viggs. 4:55 Vegoe I predicted four out of six for the chaos. 4:59 Jûpe Just the opposite. 5:00 Jûpe Just the opposite. 5:02 Jûpe So they do finish in sixth place. 5:05 Jûpe They will head to Penn State. 5:07 Jûpe We'll talk more about that later. 5:11 Jûpe A lot of goofy things gonna happen. 5:12 Jûpe Penn State got swept again. 5:16 Jûpe This time at home to the Badgers. 5:17 Jûpe And the Badgers picked a good time to start playing better because for a while they were right near that cutoff line, Viggs. 5:26 Jûpe And now Penn State is more in that position. 5:29 Jûpe Maybe not as bad, but Wisconsin really helped themselves by just pretty much beating up at Penn State this past weekend. 5:37 Vegoe Yeah, it really seemed like Penn State was a lock to get in. 5:41 Vegoe And Wisconsin was headed towards the bubble, and how things have turned around here, where both teams are now a little bit on the bubble, heading into the tournament play. 5:51 Vegoe But I think Wisconsin is a team that had a good start. 5:57 Vegoe Brad Schlossman picked them to be one of the top teams in college hockey. 6:00 Vegoe They had a lot of things going for them. 6:02 Vegoe And then the Wagon just kind of fell off when they played Minnesota. 6:06 Vegoe They had a hard time getting goals five on five. 6:09 Vegoe You know, I think that Hastings style dictates a team to play really disciplined. 6:14 Vegoe And they got away from that a little bit. 6:16 Vegoe And they found themselves in trouble. 6:19 Jûpe Terrible injury, too. 6:22 Vegoe Terrible injury as well. 6:23 Jûpe You keep on. 6:25 Jûpe Correct. 6:26 Jûpe And then obviously Michigan State got enough from Minnesota to take over first place. 6:32 Jûpe It seemed like all involved, except Michigan and the league, were was happy that, again, Michigan has not won a regular season title yet in the Big Ten. 6:44 Jûpe So the 11th season, I think. 6:45 Jûpe Yeah. 6:46 Vegoe I think the field of the Big Ten is tied with Minnesota for Big Ten titles. 6:50 Vegoe I think it's seven and seven, so. 6:51 Speaker 3 Correct. 6:55 Jûpe It's, well, it's just fun because some of those people are just, we'll just leave it at that, I guess. 7:07 Jûpe So, you know, Wisconsin wins. 7:09 Jûpe Minnesota gets a couple of points. 7:11 Jûpe What else we have last weekend? 7:13 Jûpe Ohio State took care of Notre Dame. 7:15 Jûpe I think they actually split. 7:17 Jûpe Minnesota had a chance to catch Ohio State, but they could have only tied them, so it wouldn't have mattered. 7:24 Jûpe Ohio State did have a chance if they had swept, and then Wisconsin was swept. 7:29 Jûpe They could have tied them and would have won those tiebreaker. 7:32 Jûpe But instead, you know, we've got, we've got Ohio State heading to Wisconsin this weekend, Notre Dame heading to Michigan, and obviously we're heading to Penn State. 7:41 Jûpe So that's kind of the recap of the weekend. 7:44 Jûpe But we also had some fun this past weekend, getting involved with the high school tournament, didn't we? 7:49 Vegoe Yeah, we got to go down to the Expo and hang out in the Pulltab Sports booth and do a little pod with Brian Bonnen, Mr. 7:57 Vegoe Hockey, Hobie Baker winner, long time youth hockey coach, has a lot of strong opinions. 8:05 Vegoe I ran into a couple of people on Sunday and they said, you know, Brian, Brian's got opinions and he wants to share them with the world. 8:12 Jûpe He's so supportive of community hockey. 8:15 Jûpe But and honestly, that's what has kept Minnesota above everyone else in the country is community hockey. 8:23 Jûpe Even Canada is getting much worse at community hockey these days. 8:28 Jûpe So it's kind of a special thing to put taxpayer money in there. 8:34 Jûpe You look at how many players play D1 out of, you know, for men and women, how many how many players go on to the NHL? 8:41 Jûpe The community program is working and but yet Brian's afraid it's going to fall apart. 8:46 Jûpe And I think he's right in some areas. 8:48 Vegoe Well, I think the key to the number of D1 and professional players that Minnesota produces is simply because of the quality of coaching and the number of players participating. 9:00 Vegoe You know, I don't think the goal of building all these ranks is necessarily to produce D1 hockey players and pro hockey players. 9:07 Vegoe It's just something that comes out of it. 9:09 Vegoe And while you're producing those talented players, you're also just creating hockey fans, officials, parents down the line who can raise their kids to play hockey, can volunteer for their local association. 9:20 Vegoe It's just kind of a model that feeds itself. 9:23 Vegoe And I think the game of hockey teaches so many good, you know, skills and attributes and character traits that that's really what the investment is. 9:31 Vegoe And when you start making it all about the money and private equity and for-profit companies, you lose a lot of that greater good that comes with hockey. 9:42 Vegoe And you know, I don't think the model works when you start doing it that way. 9:46 Vegoe Because all of a sudden, you know, you shrink the pyramid, you know, you lose the number of players, you lose the number of potential D1 players and pro players when you do that. 9:56 Jûpe It's going to be interesting to see how it does. 9:58 Jûpe I actually loved his passion for it. 9:59 Jûpe He had some similar thoughts of the college game as well. 10:03 Jûpe You know how it's kind of he was going through the rankings. 10:07 Jûpe He's like, God, where did this team from come from? 10:09 Jûpe Where is that team? 10:11 Jûpe It was quite interesting. 10:11 Jûpe It was an hour show. 10:13 Jûpe So be sure to check out us on your favorite podcasting app or and the video is probably a little more intuitive as you can kind of see how bright is feeling because he got worked up, didn't he? 10:26 Vegoe Well, he's passionate. 10:27 Vegoe You know, he was probably one of the last generation of player to just have community hockey and community models. 10:34 Vegoe You know, there wasn't even a development program when he was in school, you know, hadn't started yet. 10:40 Vegoe That's more of the Jordan Leopold era when that kicks in and that distraction started to happen. 10:45 Vegoe You know, I don't think you had, you know, Minnesota made and Minnesota machine and all the Minnesota blades and the AAA stuff started yet. 10:53 Vegoe So you could just focus on what you're doing with your local association. 10:57 Vegoe And now there's a lot of choices and it's a free market and you can choose what you want to do. 11:02 Vegoe But again, I think the model starts to stop working when you just make it so elite so quickly. 11:09 Vegoe Because the reason you have the facilities to do that stuff is our model in Minnesota. 11:15 Jûpe Yeah. 11:18 Jûpe We'll have to see. 11:19 Jûpe But you know, the reason why we have the expo is during the high school hockey tournament, VIGS, another very successful tournament. 11:28 Jûpe Some kind of crazy final games. 11:29 Jûpe You look at that, you know, the final game in the A, how it looked like it was going to be a blowout. 11:37 Jûpe And then it came back. 11:38 Jûpe What was it? 11:38 Jûpe Hibbing came back and took the lead and then they lose. 11:40 Jûpe I mean, that was crazy. 11:43 Jûpe But just just talk about that game, because a double A was just as crazy. 11:48 Vegoe Well, I only saw the highlights of the class A game because I was coaching my peewees. 11:51 Vegoe We had a little tournament this weekend. 11:53 Vegoe We had games at eight and 12, 15 on that Saturday. 11:56 Vegoe So I had a long day Saturday. 11:59 Vegoe But I thought the tournament was pretty good overall for class A. 12:03 Vegoe Some years we just don't have a very competitive field. 12:07 Vegoe I think this year, all across high school hockey, we saw some more upsets. 12:11 Vegoe And it wasn't just chalk in all the games this year. 12:15 Vegoe There were some competitive games. 12:17 Vegoe But Warroad, man, if you had your community model, Warroad is one that's pretty impressive. 12:23 Vegoe A lot of those kids came up through that program. 12:25 Vegoe And, you know, they had family members come through that program. 12:28 Vegoe And it's hockey town for a reason. 12:31 Vegoe I'm sure Jess Myers is very excited about the title coming up north. 12:36 Vegoe So it's good to see. 12:37 Jûpe So Warroad jumps out to the league. 12:39 Jûpe Hibbing comes slowly back and gets gets ahead of Warroad. 12:43 Jûpe And then Warroad ties it late and then wins it early in overtime. 12:47 Jûpe Similarly, we had the same thing happen in double A. 12:50 Jûpe You had Minnetonka race out to a nice lead, led four to one going into the third over Morehead. 12:56 Jûpe And I think Heather Ruhl said she couldn't find an instance where a team came back in three goals in a third period to tie and then win in overtime. 13:06 Jûpe But it was just another spectacular game. 13:11 Jûpe They come back, they tie with 35 seconds left, win it in double over time in front of 19,000 fans. 13:19 Jûpe Again, another reason why our hockey tournament is the best. 13:23 Vegoe I did make that one. 13:25 Vegoe I was one of the 19,000 in person. 13:28 Vegoe And, you know, I felt bad for Morehead's goalie. 13:30 Vegoe I don't think he liked two of the three first goals and probably wish he could have had those back. 13:36 Vegoe You know, one of them was a really nice play that he had no chance on. 13:39 Vegoe But you could probably argue he was their best player down the stretch. 13:43 Vegoe You know, in overtime, Minnetonka had lots of great chances. 13:47 Vegoe And he was there for all of them. 13:49 Vegoe There's a weird deflection off a skate late in the game that he was in position for and made the save on and was just super impressive and calm. 13:58 Vegoe And that's a pretty impressive quality to see of a goalie to rally back from a start like that and recover and then be someone his team could depend on. 14:05 Vegoe And Morehead was a very talented team. 14:08 Vegoe You know, they threw out their top players a lot in that championship game. 14:13 Vegoe I thought they got a little bit. 14:13 Jûpe That's just it. 14:15 Jûpe They might have got fatigue, but it's the last game and it's just adrenaline, isn't it? 14:19 Vegoe It is. 14:20 Vegoe And they got a little fatigued, but I thought they blocked shots in the third period in the overtime when Manitaka put some pressure on and they really just held together and capitalized on the chances they had and climb your way back. 14:32 Vegoe And that game is pretty intense. 14:34 Vegoe I think Morehead was the team that almost lost like a four or five goal lead last year. 14:40 Jûpe Yeah, it was a little hairy. 14:41 Vegoe And they came back and won that one, too. 14:44 Vegoe So back to back for the Spuds. 14:46 Vegoe You know, I was watching Joey Cullen with a bit of a microscope this weekend. 14:50 Vegoe I was there on Thursday night as well. 14:53 Vegoe I missed the Gophers. 14:55 Vegoe No show against Michigan State and saw the Innsmouth kids. 14:59 Vegoe Yeah. 14:59 Vegoe And, you know, he's a very talented one on one player. 15:03 Vegoe I think there's some room to grow in his game and probably wasn't his best tournament out of his high school career. 15:11 Vegoe He'll probably go to the development program next year and continue to expand his game. 15:16 Vegoe But his one on one and stick skills and just his hockey IQ offensively was pretty impressive to watch at times. 15:23 Jûpe And something we have really never seen. 15:25 Jûpe You look at the semifinal, we had a little gathering after the Gopher game on Friday night. 15:32 Jûpe We were watching the high school games and almost like a tiny little brawl broke out at the end of that Edina Moorhead game. 15:40 Jûpe I don't recall seeing anything like that before in high school, the high school tournament. 15:48 Vegoe Yeah, I think we're in rare territory with that one. 15:52 Vegoe You know, I think a couple players got on the wrong side of the ice at the end of the game. 15:57 Vegoe There's a little bit of chippiness at the end. 15:59 Vegoe I know Brooke Suter had played Bantam Hockey with a bunch of the Moorhead kids and probably know each other pretty well and chirp in each other out there on the ice. 16:09 Vegoe And then, you know, one thing leads to another. 16:11 Vegoe And, you know, I feel like that animosity is pretty contagious in hockey. 16:16 Vegoe And it got ugly there at the end. 16:18 Vegoe And one of the United players missed the third place game because of that. 16:22 Jûpe Oh, we did, because I didn't see what the result of that was. 16:26 Jûpe I know they did do a handshake line. 16:28 Jûpe And then I believe I was number nine. 16:30 Jûpe Maybe that was the guy. 16:31 Jûpe He ended up getting pulled out of that even because he was trying to start trouble there. 16:35 Jûpe It was it was kind of ugly for the high school tournament. 16:38 Vegoe Yeah. 16:39 Vegoe And, you know, I thought it was good that mostly the guys didn't get into it. 16:42 Vegoe It was just a couple of guys. 16:44 Vegoe So and I think it was weird. 16:46 Vegoe I was talking to some media guys and, you know, the MSHSL has been very quiet on any discipline. 16:52 Vegoe They don't make any announcements about this stuff. 16:55 Vegoe So you're kind of left to say, well, did the school do it? 16:58 Vegoe Did MSHSL do it? 17:00 Vegoe They always operate things a little curiously. 17:04 Jûpe What do you do? 17:04 Jûpe I mean, that's everything's kind of weird with the Minnesota State High School League. 17:09 Vegoe Sure is. 17:10 Vegoe It was a great tournament. 17:12 Vegoe You know, great attendance, as always. 17:15 Vegoe St. 17:15 Vegoe Paul was rocking. 17:16 Vegoe It was fun to be a part of it. 17:18 Jûpe But I have still not been to a high school tournament game since 1989. 17:26 Jûpe That's the first time I've been down there, at least in the complex since then, for the high school tournament. 17:32 Vegoe So I'm lucky enough to get to go with someone I coached high school football with. 17:38 Vegoe Someone I played high school football for. 17:40 Vegoe Someone who is the AD at my high school. 17:43 Vegoe And sometimes my high school hockey coach is there. 17:46 Vegoe And some old alums that I get to hang out with. 17:49 Vegoe And it's always a good time. 17:51 Vegoe We've got seats just behind one of the benches. 17:54 Vegoe And it's a good time. 17:56 Jûpe And what was it, Thursday night? 17:57 Jûpe You had John King himself right behind you, didn't you? 18:02 Vegoe Yeah, that was pretty funny. 18:03 Vegoe I'm walking to my seat. 18:04 Vegoe I'm coming a little hot after having some food at Joseph's Bar and Grill before the game. 18:11 Vegoe And I hear this guy go, hey, nice seats. 18:14 Vegoe And it's Kinger right behind me. 18:15 Vegoe So that was that was kind of funny. 18:17 Vegoe He had a friend in from out of town. 18:18 Vegoe He couldn't believe the atmosphere. 18:21 Vegoe I think he was from Illinois or I can't remember. 18:24 Vegoe But he's from out of town. 18:26 Vegoe So he'd never been there and never, never seen it before. 18:28 Vegoe And he was impressed by it all. 18:30 Jûpe And of course, Kinger with another knock it out of the park hockey hair video. 18:36 Vegoe Lotta lettuce this year. 18:37 Vegoe I don't know if I'm a big fan of all the dyes and Clorox, but, you know, I think they're just trying to do something different than the same old. 18:46 Jûpe I mean, you know, it's either flow or long hair or bleached. 18:51 Vegoe It's bleached. 18:52 Vegoe It's a strong tradition. 18:53 Vegoe Yeah. 18:53 Jûpe Yeah. 18:55 Jûpe I mean, I think kids are just trying something different. 18:57 Jûpe I can't blame them because it's been kind of the same for 15 years. 19:01 Vegoe So hockey here goes all the way back to young blood. 19:04 Vegoe So, you know, you got to have a good flow. 19:06 Vegoe Keanu Reeves had the great flow back then. 19:09 Jûpe He did, didn't he? 19:10 Vegoe Patrick Swayze. 19:11 Jûpe Rob Lowe. 19:12 Jûpe Oh, yeah. 19:12 Vegoe Rob Lowe needed to work on his flow a little bit, I think, but he had the luck. 19:17 Jûpe He did. 19:17 Jûpe He did. 19:18 Jûpe So like you said, great tournament. 19:22 Jûpe Maybe not so great on the Minnesota Gophers side, but they did finish on a good note. 19:28 Jûpe We're just going to have otherwise everything was pretty much the same for you. 20:42 Vegoe Yeah, a lot of the home teams in the first round of a lot of league conference playoff games took care of business. 20:49 Vegoe So there wasn't a lot of movement. 20:51 Vegoe All these top teams mostly swept, some of them had to go to OT and whatnot to get through, but most of them advanced without sweating. 20:59 Vegoe Then we had a lot of teams that didn't play last week. 21:02 Vegoe So not a lot of movement. 21:04 Vegoe Penn State, it's hard to know. 21:08 Vegoe They're right on the bubble. 21:09 Vegoe They've really had some inconsistent hockey here the last couple of weeks. 21:13 Vegoe I have to say, if you're going to pick a team in the Big Ten to play, as the succeed, Penn State is a good one to draw. 21:22 Vegoe So I think the Gophers are in good shape. 21:24 Vegoe They're playing a team that's giving up a lot of goals against, and that's where Minnesota struggled a little bit lately. 21:31 Vegoe We haven't really seen a great game from them since the Wisconsin series. 21:35 Vegoe So maybe this can get their vibes go in the right direction. 21:39 Vegoe The locker room was pretty pumped after their what? 22:46 Jûpe Oh, wait a second. 22:47 Jûpe Why did that move? 22:50 Vegoe Yeah, if you look at GPL, you can see the tracker, where you can see the raw ratings and how tight certain things are for certain teams as you do the comparisons. 23:00 Vegoe It's interesting to see how it's going to go, because when you start charting this out, you can see how the gaps are pretty small. 23:06 Vegoe And I really think that's something different in MPI than in the pairwise. 23:11 Vegoe In the pairwise, sometimes you almost felt like a comparison locked a team into a spot. 23:16 Vegoe I think things brainstorming this tool, you know, I was like, I really want to see, you know, where the gaps, you know, widen and tighten so you can look at, you know, what games are important for MPI compared to going to be interesting. 25:31 Vegoe Yeah. 25:31 Vegoe I mean, there's a chance for Augustana right now, but as we see with these MPI ranks, I don't think the schedule of the CCHA has been kind to their rankings right now. 25:42 Vegoe The more games they play in their league, the farther down they drop. 25:47 Vegoe I think one of the interesting things is you look at Cornell and Dartmouth, they haven't played as many games. 25:52 Vegoe They didn't play as many out of conference games. 25:55 Vegoe I feel like they're maybe a little more sheltered than someone like Augustana or Minnesota State who played a full schedule in a league that played a full schedule. 26:05 Vegoe I think that's an interesting phenomenon that I haven't seen in the MPI. 26:12 Jûpe And then, gosh, we kind of had Penn State locked in as a number one or number two seat for quite a while. 26:20 Jûpe It's just, what are they, two and six in their last eight games or something along those lines? 26:25 Jûpe Yeah, and I think you did the calculation though. 26:28 Jûpe It's like 99% they're still in, but you never know. 26:34 Jûpe I mean, they can always do the pairwise, you know, or the predictor in the MPI. 26:41 Jûpe MPI, you can't go through and just change so many things, though. 26:45 Jûpe I mean, there's so many things that could happen. 26:47 Vegoe Yeah, right now, I think there's a less than one percent chance for Penn State to drop out side the top 13. 26:55 Vegoe But even 13 this year might not be safe. 26:58 Vegoe And I think, you know, there's still a very good chance that Penn State makes it. 27:02 Vegoe But if they were to lose Wednesday, that's probably going to put them at 13 or 14 going into the bubble. 27:10 Jûpe And what if Ohio State comes in and wins the big 10 or something like it could happen? 27:18 Jûpe Obviously, that knocks everyone down and hold another whole spot. 27:21 Jûpe So that's one thing the NPI can't really take into account. 27:25 Jûpe You know, you kind of assume a couple leagues are going to get there. 27:28 Jûpe So being 16 and 15 is usually really it's bad. 27:33 Jûpe It's just a bad place to be. 27:35 Jûpe But then you bring 14, then you bring 13 into it. 27:37 Jûpe And any more upsets just makes it even worse. 27:41 Jûpe That's the only place where that's the only place where NPI is just not a predictor. 27:46 Vegoe We could definitely see a team in Hockey East this year win that tournament and not be a large team. 27:54 Vegoe Yeah, but you BC are on the outside. 27:57 Vegoe UConn, all of a sudden, they're on the outside looking in too. it this way. 32:08 Jûpe Drag the league out another week and then a short week. 32:11 Jûpe So we've got Wednesday games here. 32:14 Jûpe We've got Saturday games for the semi-final and then the final before we get into Minnesota at Penn State, let's get your thoughts. 32:32 Jûpe Notre Dame at Michigan. 32:37 Jûpe You know, Todd Molesky was at Marriotch this past weekend. 32:40 Jûpe Just, you know, he's covering the frozen faceoff for the women. 32:45 Jûpe And he kind of has the same feeling. 32:47 Jûpe He's like, you know, I don't think Notre Dame will win. 32:51 Jûpe But in this season, you just don't know. 32:56 Vegoe Well, and I look at Michigan and Michigan State, they legitimately don't have much to play for here. 33:04 Vegoe The one thing that those schools have to play for is to keep playing. 33:08 Vegoe Because I think, as we've seen, if you're not playing at this time of year, it can really hurt you going into the tournament. 33:14 Vegoe If you, you know, like Michigan just had their bye week. 33:17 Vegoe That could impact them in a series, you know. 33:22 Vegoe Being off is some rust that you have to shake off. 33:25 Vegoe And when it's just one game, and maybe you get off to a slow start or a bad start, that can really cost you. 33:33 Vegoe You know, in the three-game series, you maybe at least had some time to find your legs and recover from a bad game or two, but not in this format. 33:41 Vegoe And so, Notre Dame, good power play, bad penalty kill, good top six, maybe not a lot of depth, maybe too good D and a little shaky on the rest. 33:52 Vegoe So, in a one-game situation, they can just play top heavy. 33:56 Vegoe You know, they can do what Morehead did in the double A final and just play the heck out of their top guys and use their skill to overcome some depth issues. 34:07 Vegoe So, anything can happen, I think, in this one. 34:11 Jûpe I am going to pick Michigan to come out of that one. 34:14 Jûpe I just... 34:17 Jûpe I'm not ready for an upset in the MPI the other day. 34:35 Vegoe So why not lose another one to the team down there? 34:38 Vegoe Like, you know, could happen. 34:41 Jûpe All right, then Ohio State visits Wisconsin and Wisconsin in a much better place now. 34:50 Vegoe Yeah, they are feeling better about themselves, good about their game. 34:54 Vegoe I think Wisconsin pulls this one out. 34:57 Vegoe Ohio State, I don't feel like their top end talent is maybe as good as Newer Dame's. 35:03 Vegoe I think they probably have a little bit more depth than Newer Dame, but it hasn't really helped them a ton this year. 35:11 Vegoe It seems like they've just been a little bit off all season, and I'll go chock on that one. 35:18 Jûpe I'm going to pick the upset here. 35:19 Jûpe I'm going with Ohio State. 35:22 Jûpe Ohio State took seven points this year, Wisconsin took five. 35:29 Jûpe Wisconsin will still be in the tournament, so they're good. 35:31 Jûpe So that's my upset so far here on our picks. 35:38 Jûpe Minnesota heading to Penn State. 35:42 Jûpe We have had some success against Penn State this year, but I don't know what to think. 35:52 Jûpe We don't know what team is going to show up, Viggs. 35:55 Vegoe It is really hard to know what team is going to show up. 35:58 Vegoe Is it going to be the team that burned the boats, or the team that said, hey, you said you were going to burn the boats, and then you lost 7-1? 36:08 Vegoe It's hard to know. 36:12 Vegoe Again, I would play the heck out of the top line. 36:17 Vegoe I don't think Minnesota does that very often, but I would put out Zemur, Lamb, and Mooney as much as possible. 36:26 Jûpe If Lamb is going to be able to play, though, because he looks like he took a puck off the knee, an inadvertent block shot on Thursday, or yes, Thursday night, didn't play on Friday. 36:38 Vegoe I think he will do everything possible to play in this game. 36:43 Vegoe I just get that kind of sense. 36:45 Vegoe And even a Lamb at less than full speed is going to be effective, I think, for Minnesota. 36:52 Vegoe I think Mooney draws so much attention when he's on the ice that it can create space for people. 36:58 Vegoe And, you know, you just look at Zemer. 37:00 Vegoe You know, he's third in the country in goals. 37:03 Vegoe He's on a heater of a season, and I would just rely on those guys as much as possible. 37:10 Jûpe Mo did come in Friday, and I thought he fit in pretty well with that line. 37:15 Jûpe I was pleasantly surprised on Mason Mo. 37:19 Vegoe I've noticed a lot of times when he gets chances in space, he gets his shot off really quickly, and it's usually on net. 37:27 Vegoe He's really good at just one touch shots or two touch shots, and he can play direct, which I'm always impressed with. 37:36 Vegoe I think sometimes you get some of these other younger players, they get the puck and they want to just get a little bit better position to shoot. 37:43 Vegoe He doesn't seem to care about that. 37:44 Vegoe He's very direct with his offense, and when you play with skilled players, you can put you in good spots. 37:50 Vegoe That's an effective tool. 37:54 Vegoe We'll see how much they can use him, but I've liked Mo this season. 37:58 Vegoe He's one of those players that was brought in maybe a little bit early because of early departures, but I feel like he's done well for himself this season and definitely has improved throughout the year. 38:13 Jûpe Gavin McKenna, he just kind of pushed off his, he's just not going to have to be in court on Wednesday. 38:21 Jûpe He just is going to get good to go until, was it April 8th? 38:24 Jûpe There was his arraignment. 38:27 Jûpe So we knew something like that was going to happen. 38:28 Jûpe He's not going to be showing up in court on the day he's got a hockey I remember talking to some of the Gopher players and like, yeah, you have no idea what you're going to get out of these guys. 40:53 Vegoe They could be anywhere. 40:54 Vegoe And I think the coaching staff for Penn State saw that and said, hey, guys, tighten it up a little bit. 40:59 Vegoe I know we have a lot of skill here, but we don't want to get into a game like that with Minnesota and let them find their game. 41:06 Vegoe We would like to limit some of the chances and control the game a little bit more. 41:12 Vegoe And that's what happened when Minnesota went to Penn State. 41:16 Vegoe They controlled that series pretty well. 41:17 Vegoe So it would be interesting what kind of hockey we get Wednesday with the short turnarounds for both teams. 41:23 Jûpe They don't want to give Minnesota any offense. 41:25 Jûpe They really don't. 41:26 Jûpe They gave up 12 goals to Wisconsin last weekend. 41:30 Jûpe Luckily for them, Minnesota has not shown consistent offensive season. 41:35 quite what kind of impact he can have on the game. 42:33 Vegoe If he plays the right style, you know, he's got the fancy shootout moves, he's got the fancy skill. 42:41 Vegoe But when you're that big and strong, you can play a little bit more of a bully possession game and make those plays off of that. 42:50 Vegoe I think Beckett Hendrickson has been a little snakebit with goal scoring opportunities this year. 42:55 Vegoe You know, he got one last weekend against Michigan State. 42:59 Vegoe You know, they need him to be effective. 43:02 Vegoe And when he's making his plays, it would be great for his other line mates to get in on those chaos plays around the net. 43:09 Vegoe And I think, you know, we've been looking for Eric Paulson to kind of find his game. 43:13 Vegoe Oh, boy.
