This is a 10.8% beer, Danker, Opium.
0:23
Yes, it is.
0:32
I wouldn't say top 16.
0:34
Well, I mean, they're in the Atlantic, and they win the conference.
0:52
Now, here's Jupiter and Vego.
1:06
Welcome to The GPL Podcast, episode number 254.
1:11
I come on giggling here a little bit, Veegs, because I had a little video clip that I got from a certain web person with our guest tonight, when he made his famous appearance on Fox Sports.
1:29
You know, he's a man behind the scenes, and sometimes he's in the scene.
1:32
So, he's been around me a lot over the years and helped us immensely.
1:38
And it's fun to have him on the show, finally.
1:40
Let's bring him in, former Minnesota and Robert Morris SID.
1:46
Brian Deutsch, you didn't see that one coming, did you, Deutsch?
1:50
You know, I was honestly surprised that it didn't make the rounds this week once it came on that I was joining you guys.
1:58
And actually, I was telling some people, I was like, there was this one time, and that I just walked into the shot and I was, that's the visitors bench.
2:07
What was I doing over there?
2:12
But it's great to be with you guys.
2:14
Exciting weekend for me and for my family and hopefully Gopher fans and Colonial fans.
2:21
It's always exciting when it's Gopher hockey, man.
2:24
By the way, I actually reached out to the famous TV internet guy, C-Zero, I think it's his handle on the internet.
2:33
Oh, yeah.
2:34
He had the clip, he sent it to me.
2:37
And then I just had a little honk in the horn there.
2:42
I just remember that game.
2:44
I don't remember the specifics of it, but like my phone was just going off constantly.
2:50
And I don't think I was married yet at the time, but I was definitely with my now wife.
2:56
And she texted me and was just like, oh my God, and I was thinking, what's wrong?
3:00
And then I learned what was wrong.
3:06
I just had to include it just for some fun.
3:08
I know you're pretty good support about it.
3:10
I'm also gonna thank you for being on our 250th episode and over time, you lasted that over time.
3:15
It was nice of you to come on then too.
3:17
Well, like I said, on X or Twitter this week, 250 plus shows in, you guys have clearly ran out of good guests and now you've brought me on.
3:26
But that was fun.
3:29
I had a good time talking and over time and even talking a little bit afterwards with just some of the crazy stories that we've all gone through over the last couple of years.
3:40
There has been a lot of craziness.
3:43
I put on the shirt today after I got in on La Duria.
3:46
I know this was from the 07, 08 season.
3:49
They gave us all to the media members at the time.
3:51
And that would have been your first year covering gopher hockey for the Minnesota Daily, wasn't it?
3:57
It was, it was, I started the year covering gopher football and then midway through football season, they said, Hey, we have an opening on the men's hockey beat.
4:07
And I had covered the women's team before and just hopped right in.
4:10
And I still remember my first men's game was Jim Strick's first game as the SID at the time.
4:17
And we were down at the X and I was like, Hey, can I talk to this guy and this guy and this guy?
4:21
And he goes, I don't know who any of these people are.
4:25
And all these years later, it was like, you kind of do get that feeling, even year after year, like when guys start showing up as freshmen and you're just like, I don't know much about this person personally.
4:36
So it's just kind of weird to all of a sudden be like jumping right in and interview on them.
4:41
Now, Veegs, were you down there the same time Brian was?
4:45
Or was it a little later?
4:46
That might have been the time when I was in California for a little bit.
4:51
So I was not as involved with GopherPuckLive.
4:54
I took a little soiree out California with my girlfriend who became my fiance, who became my wife.
5:01
So I think it was a good decision by me to spend some time out there.
5:05
But I know Brian pretty well when he took the SID job and we had campus pizza to kind of kick off that season, which was smart, smart food by Brian.
5:17
And it was a great relationship built on food from there.
5:20
Pretty much, yeah.
5:22
I forgot about that first kind of getting to know everybody at campus pizza.
5:26
That was a good time.
5:28
Yeah.
5:29
Yeah, that was, I'm looking at the comments.
5:34
Well, we already got to thank you for you.
5:35
Thanks, Brian, for setting up a B-Day video from Lacombe.
5:38
My daughter, two years ago, she's still a Lacombe fan.
5:43
You know what?
5:44
That was always one of those fun things to do is to go and do personal things with fans and get the guys involved.
5:54
And a lot of times it was a pain in the butt to maybe schedule it or pull it off.
5:59
But at the end of the day, almost all the time, guys were big fans of doing it.
6:04
And I remember, again, I don't remember the specifics of when, but we were on a road trip and husband and wife ended up getting married at the rink.
6:14
And we did a big video congratulating them.
6:16
And that was just one of those for the moment things.
6:18
And I was like, oh yeah, everybody kind of got behind it.
6:20
And it was a lot of fun.
6:22
Yeah, I think the guys enjoy doing that stuff a lot more than doing like 12 media hits on availability day, with local media, national media, other podcasts.
6:33
So that's the fun part of the job, Brian.
6:36
And I think you did a great job with it, with all the guides.
6:39
Would do everything they can to help those, I think.
6:43
But before you were at Minnesota, where were you, Brian?
6:48
You left the University of Minnesota after you graduated.
6:51
What happened to you?
6:52
Well, so I graduated from the U in 2010, and I'd spent, what, three years at The Daily.
6:59
And then I worked with the football team kind of as an undergraduate assistant my senior year.
7:03
Then I did a year as an intern with The Gophers, and I worked with wrestling, softball, and soccer, and was the interim men's hockey contact for the draft.
7:14
I believe that was a year Nick Buxton got drafted.
7:17
And there wasn't a whole lot to it, and Don kind of just said, I'll just do my own thing, don't worry, pal.
7:23
But then after that, I had the chance to actually go out to Robert Morris.
7:27
It was my first real taste of being on a staff for a Division I hockey team and doing the exact same thing that I ended up doing back at Minnesota.
7:36
And that's just kind of where I got my start.
7:38
And it was kind of a crazy experience and a whirlwind because I basically was out there for 11 months.
7:46
And then my then boss of the U, Paul Rovnak, ended up going over, he was the men's hockey contact, and ended up going over to football.
7:55
And just one summer day, I got a phone call saying, hey, the job's open, are you interested in it?
8:02
And I think like two weeks later, I was packing up my house in Pittsburgh and moving home.
8:07
Wow, that's quick.
8:10
And you were there for 10 years, was it?
8:12
Was it 10 seasons?
8:14
With Minnesota, yeah, 10 years, yep.
8:16
So I figured it was a nice round number.
8:20
Let someone else have the torture now.
8:23
Yeah, I think if we did the math, like the three guys that had been there before me had only been there like less than 10 years, I think the lifespan of that position isn't necessarily good for being 10 years.
8:40
It isn't.
8:40
It's not like you're Paul Allen at Minnesota State.
8:45
I don't think anyone would confuse me with Paul Allen.
8:50
I think the idea for a hockey program in college athletics is definitely a challenging spot.
8:56
You have to have thick skin.
8:57
There's a lot of demands or isn't really a playbook for everything that you handle from a day-to-day basis.
9:03
You have to build it by yourself.
9:05
And the personalities are strong.
9:08
To say the least, Veegs, come on.
9:16
And everybody likes Minnesota.
9:17
Everybody wants to come back home.
9:19
So I think it's a good fit for everybody.
9:22
That is true.
9:24
Veegs, we did have some hockey over this weekend.
9:27
CC was in town.
9:28
Nice to see an old foe, WCHA foe in town that hadn't been to Mariucci since 2012.
9:35
And it was a split.
9:38
Team was just like this once again.
9:40
A lot of the same frustrations that Bob's been talking about all season.
9:45
Yeah.
9:46
I mean, we just keep coming back to this.
9:48
They're 95% there.
9:51
You see the skill, you see the talent in the roster, and they're able to score goals and produce.
9:58
It's just again, these critical mistakes come up by the wrong guys at the wrong place in the rink that is costing Minnesota points.
10:07
And if we look at Minnesota, they're kind of on this pairwise bubble right now.
10:11
And it's because of these close games where they're not getting outplayed, but they're just not able to outscore their mistakes.
10:21
And last year when you had so much veteran talent, these close games, the Gophers got away with.
10:28
They were still developing guys like Logan Cooley and Jimmy Stuggeroode, but they had guys like Brock Faber, Ryan Johnson, Jackson Lecombe, who could pull out all these games at the end.
10:38
I was talking to Tim Brule from the USCHO this week.
10:42
He's like, last year, Minnesota led the nation in goals and games close at the end.
10:47
This year, I almost guarantee, they're not that high.
10:51
They have all these close games, and they just can't dig themselves out of it as much as they were last year.
10:59
And it didn't help.
11:00
It just seems like when things happen, even close kind of had a bad game, Sunday, but then he totally made up for it Monday.
11:09
And that kind of entails what the entire season's been.
11:12
It's been kind of just 90% good, but that five or 10% is just killing them at times.
11:22
Yeah, and it's only really happening on one night a weekend.
11:26
You look at the game Monday, that's probably the best they've played in a long time.
11:30
You know, the first period maybe was a little shaky at times, but once they made a little bit of an adjustment to their forecheck, they controlled the game.
11:40
And they made so many plays in transition where the skill set of this roster can just shine.
11:46
You know, you saw Jimmy Snuggerud, Charlie Stirlbl, Rep Pitlick, all just coming through for the Gophers, capitalizing on transition chances.
11:56
And it was funny talking to Chris Mayotte after the game from CC.
11:59
He's like, sometimes when you play a team like Minnesota, them scoring doesn't really mean you're playing poorly.
12:05
It's just that they are so good when you give them some space or you mess up, they take advantage.
12:12
And you can't get away from your game plan.
12:14
And Mayotte thought as the game went on, CC kind of got rattled, and Minnesota just saw blood in the water and capitalized.
12:21
Our guy Nate Wells said, you know, your prediction of Snuggerud going off and being Player of the Week was just a series too early.
12:31
Maybe just a little bit.
12:34
He definitely went off.
12:35
You know, he started well against Ohio State, but just couldn't finish that weekend.
12:39
Maybe he was thinking ahead to saving some goals for Sweden.
12:42
But when he came back, there was no doubt.
12:44
You know, five goals in a weekend puts him second nationally, leading the team.
12:49
That's the Jimmy Snuggerud that Minnesota hopes they have going forward for the rest of the season.
12:54
And maybe we'll make him a Hobie Baker candidate if he can keep scoring.
12:59
And Brian, one of your favorite guys, Justin Close, got to his 50th win in literally just exactly two years after being essentially a nobody, a third stringer when you were there and all the controversy that happened two years ago this week.
13:21
I was going to say, you know, 50 wins for that guy.
13:25
I don't know that he would even have predicted that.
13:28
I mean, he was always very confident.
13:30
And I know Bob Motzko was always very courteous and politically correct of saying, you know, like, Closer is right there.
13:38
He's right there.
13:39
We could play Closer.
13:40
And even at the time, it's just like, okay, but we got these other guys that are in front of him.
13:46
And then circumstances change and he got thrown in there.
13:50
And the one thing that I always appreciate, I haven't talked to Closer that much since I've left, but, you know, the person that he was when he was the third string goalie, coming in and staying out late for practice and doing whatever is asked of him, that's the same person that he was when he was the starter and leading the Gophers of the Frozen Four.
14:11
And, you know, I talked to him a couple of weeks ago when I was at the rink and, you know, this is the same guy and it's just like, he's such a, it's almost, you'd almost forget that he's a division one athlete because he's just like the most normal guy in the world and you can talk to him about anything and just can't say enough about how much fun it was to follow him along.
14:32
And that year that I had with him, oh, I had two years with him really, but when he took over as a starter and to see how well he did and then to carry that into last year and lead them even farther, it's just unbelievable to see.
14:49
Yeah, I definitely see that with Closers.
14:52
He's just so consistent.
14:54
When we did our watch party at Tom's Watch Bar downtown, Steven came up and he's like, hey, do you think they're going to move on and give area game here or there, especially after the way Close played on Sunday night?
15:06
And I was just like, I don't think so.
15:09
He came back for a fifth year.
15:11
The locker room respects him so much.
15:13
You got to give him a chance to bounce back.
15:15
And he definitely did.
15:17
Closer plays consistent.
15:19
And if the team in front of him plays consistent, he can shine.
15:22
I think when he gets a lot of transition plays against him, or there's a lot of chaos where the Gophers lose their structure, that's where he isn't going to be his best because he's not a big goalie.
15:34
That's why you have all these coaches like he works hard and all that, but it's hard to give him a chance.
15:39
You know, NHL teams don't give sub six goaltenders a chance.
15:44
Justin's just not that big.
15:46
And so you're worried about that.
15:48
And when the Gophers have that chaos, that's not going to be great for him.
15:52
And so I think for him to have the stats that he's having, he's got to have that structure in the D zone.
15:58
And I got to say, Veegs, I had no idea that goalie masks could fit a stick through the eye socket.
16:06
I just happened to capture that Sunday night when he, on the fifth goal, he gave up, stick going right into the helmet.
16:15
I had no idea there was enough room for that.
16:18
Yeah, and that's why that cat-eye cage is not necessarily approved for younger players, because things can still get through there.
16:26
Pucks can sometimes squeeze through and sticks can too.
16:32
I always wanted one of those masks.
16:34
I thought it was so cool.
16:37
My parents were not big sports people, but I think they had the foresight to be like, that's a bad idea.
16:42
You don't need that.
16:44
Did you have the Hasek, like just the normal steel cage, Brian, when you were playing goalie?
16:49
I did that when I first started, and then my parents spoiled me, and I had some pretty nice helmets.
16:56
That's good.
16:57
Protect that melon.
16:57
You have the full glass.
16:59
They used to have that for a time.
17:02
The plexiglass, like for goalies.
17:06
I didn't see many of the bubble goalie masks, but you had the big plastic.
17:11
It was more of a 99-year-old.
17:14
The Shearhorn used to do that, right?
17:16
I mean, it was pretty common for a couple of years there, having that big glass neck protector.
17:22
Might get an extra save out of that thing.
17:28
We've talked about this, Veegs.
17:29
They're really on the bubble for pairwise.
17:34
Splitting this weekend probably didn't do them any favors, especially on home ice.
17:40
We'll talk about Robert Morris coming up, but they really do need to start stringing some wins together here.
17:49
I don't know if the split with CC is going to hurt them a ton either.
17:53
Because CC swept North Dakota, so that's going to help their ranking.
17:59
We're rooting for CC the rest of the way out.
18:00
Keep winning for CC.
18:01
That would help.
18:02
That would be helpful.
18:03
I think Minnesota is going to be okay when you compare them against NCHC teams based on how they've played.
18:09
They don't have a situation where they're going to lose comparisons to those schools because they split at North Dakota and then they split home with CC.
18:18
They took care of a split with Duluth too, basically.
18:25
A little bit of an advantage because of the OT stuff, I think.
18:28
I think they're okay there.
18:30
The key is, of course, going to be to keep it going and not drop any points here to Robert Morris and the pairwise.
18:38
But I thought the Gophers played well.
18:40
I really liked seeing Strobel and Middlestadt on that fourth line together.
18:45
We've seen them swap for each other in the lineup pretty consistently this year.
18:49
I think that was the first time we saw them on line with Jimmy Clark and Pino sitting out.
18:54
They look strong.
18:55
Middlestadt got the goal on Sunday.
18:58
Strobel gets a goal on Monday.
19:01
They were positive in the plus-minus on Monday.
19:04
That's something that Matzko is going to need from his fourth line going forward, is a line that's positive.
19:11
Don't give anything up.
19:13
If you score anything on top of that, that's the cherry on the sundae.
19:18
All right, Veegs, we need to talk about one of our sponsors here.
19:21
We'll just hide Deutsch here for a second.
19:23
Our guys are Chill Boys.
19:26
You were giving away some Chill Boys stuff Monday, weren't you?
19:29
Yeah, if you were at Tom's Watch Bar with us on Monday, I had lots of Chill Boys stuff.
19:33
I had the bamboo boxers, I had the boxer briefs, and I had the performance boxers.
19:39
So hopefully the fans that showed there got some.
19:42
We left them in some of the goodie bags for Tom's Watch Bar too.
19:45
You know, they're just awesome material.
19:47
They're going to keep everything cool down there.
19:50
You probably needed to have something cool down there if you're watching the game on Sunday and getting a little heated.
19:54
So Chill Boys, go to their website.
19:57
Use Pulltab 15 for 15% off.
20:00
I'm going to the Dominican this week and I'm bringing as many Chill Boys as I can.
20:04
Gonna need it, Pigs.
20:06
Definitely.
20:07
Definitely gonna need it.
20:09
But also one of our newer sponsors, Cub Foods.
20:11
I know you go to Cub Foods quite often.
20:14
Yeah, I live in Northeast.
20:15
You've even run into players at Cub Foods in the past, I think.
20:19
I have.
20:19
I live in Northeast Minneapolis.
20:21
I'm right by that Quarry Cub Foods.
20:24
They're local and Cub Foods loves local sports.
20:27
They're on PJ Flex headset.
20:29
They sponsor The Wild on 7th.
20:30
They sponsor us.
20:33
They've got everything you need.
20:35
Some of these stores around town, their inventory isn't always great.
20:38
If you're looking for something you need, Cub Foods is the spot.
20:41
They've got the freshest milk in town.
20:44
Love stopping at Cub.
20:47
Thank you for Cub and Chill Boys for being sponsors of The GPL Podcast.
20:52
Bring Deutcher back.
20:53
It looks like he's giggling at us.
20:56
You're just bringing back fond memories for me going to the quarry and going to that grocery store.
21:00
I hit that place up for 10 years as a student and then as a full-timer employee.
21:07
Easy out of Cub.
21:09
I love when you guys as sponsors match up with my needs.
21:15
Well, that's great.
21:17
Big Genie, you kind of talked about Pininemi being in and out, or actually he's out for the first time, switching in with, you know, and you've got Strobel mixing in with Middlestead.
21:33
A lot of the fans had been kind of calling for Pino to maybe do some setting and hadn't done that.
21:40
And maybe a little credence was built on that from the game Monday.
21:46
I think it's going to be hard to break up that line going into Robert Morris when you need some consistency.
21:52
I know I got another question at Tom's Watch Bar about whether Bob might dress 13 forwards and only 60 as he sorts out this fourth line.
22:02
And I told him that Bob likes to go 70 because the theory is if you have one of those guys get injured or one of those guys get a game misconduct, it's a lot easier to bring in that seventh forward in your 6D and run a lineup for the game.
22:18
That is have a 13 forward, try to figure out how to get those guys ice time because you're struggling sometimes to get those fourth line guys ice time anyway.
22:26
Now that I've had some time to think, maybe Robert Morris is the weekend where you might dress 13 forwards because I have a feeling Bob's going to want to give Pino another chance.
22:38
I know some of the fans might not want to give him another chance, but if you're going to do that, this would be one to maybe do that.
22:44
I like the fourth line the way it was, but we've got a long ways to go in the second half and you want to keep everybody engaged and give them opportunities to play.
22:53
And Pino's putting in his time with the program.
22:56
We'll see what happens.
22:57
I just really liked Strobel, Clark and Middlestad together.
23:02
One quick thing I did want to hit.
23:05
Do you think Mason Nevers has recovered from that hit initially this season because zero goals, I think five assists, four or five, Mondays guy.
23:14
I didn't see if he had anything in Munda.
23:16
I don't believe he did, but not Nevers type numbers this season.
23:22
That whole line has not looked like they did last year.
23:27
And I'm not sure what it is with them right now, but they're not driving the ground game like they did last year, where they could control play and transition with other lines.
23:40
And maybe it's because the line that they're coming out for hasn't set it up for them where they can establish something.
23:47
Last year, that nice Cooley line was just so dynamic that if you came out after them, the other teams kind of spent.
23:55
This year, that really hasn't been the case.
23:58
The Nelson line has had to maybe had to establish the possession and the momentum, and they just haven't done that as consistently.
24:06
I don't think the concussion helped, obviously.
24:08
You probably lose a little bit of your legs and conditioning and you can't push through it, but that whole line has still got some work to do in the second half.
24:16
Well, I just think some of it is that Nevers is kind of the spark plug on that line.
24:21
He's the one that really likes to go dig into corners and just bring the puck out and set the other two up.
24:29
My thinking was maybe that big hit jarred him, and he's maybe a little tentative in bringing that back to his game.
24:40
It could be.
24:41
You know, it's hard to tell what's going on.
24:43
It's also these guys have been doing it for a long time, and I'm sure they want to get to March, but there's a lot of work that has to happen from now even until the playoffs.
24:53
So they've got to find their game and figure out what works best for them.
24:56
You know, Nelson hasn't been as dominant in the faceoff circle as you would like.
25:01
You know, he's hovering around 50 and a half percent.
25:04
That's not an ideal for him.
25:07
And I know Mazka was really concerned about the whole team in the faceoff circle.
25:12
They have to be better there.
25:13
You know, if they're going to be a team that's dangerous, they need better performance in the faceoff circle, especially with Nelson.
25:24
All right.
25:25
Now, I was just kind of curious because I just I hadn't looked at the stats.
25:28
I'm like, you know, I know Brodsinski scoring and Brodsinski has been up there in scoring this year, but I think it's come to some of his power play play.
25:37
But I was just a little concerned about Nelson.
25:41
Well, Brodsinski just seems to pop.
25:43
Brodsinski just seems to pop like he's got that kind of game where he just needs that little bit of space and he'll take advantage.
25:49
But he's never never been the player who's going to drive play.
25:52
We've seen moments of him at times where he looks more engaged on the forecheck and with effort on the rush.
26:00
But it's been a little inconsistent.
26:03
And one of the big problems for the Gophers so far is getting stretched out.
26:06
He's always been that way, hasn't he, Deutsch?
26:10
Brodsinski's always been all over the place.
26:12
He'd get five goals and five games and then you wouldn't see him for ten games.
26:17
I only remember all the big goals he scored.
26:23
It makes your write up a little better, doesn't it, when he's got a big goal.
26:26
You know what?
26:27
I always have a deep appreciation for the guys who are excited to talk to media and do a really good job about it.
26:34
And in most of my experiences with Brodsinski, he certainly was good at it and was open to talking.
26:40
And that's all it takes to make him one of my favorite players.
26:44
He gave away his secret on that podcast with the Parker Fox though, didn't he, Veegs?
26:49
He sure did.
26:50
He just loves to go regurgitate what Bob just told them in the locker room.
26:55
That is a smart player right there.
26:57
You know, he often gets in Bob's doghouse and you know, maybe doing that gets him out of it a little bit too.
27:03
I do, I do like vaguely remember several times, you know, Bob liked to be the first one to go in and talk postgame.
27:10
And several times like Brodsie would like sneak in and like almost just hear exactly what Bob was saying.
27:15
And then I'm sure, I don't know if anyone ever caught that at the time, but probably did just regurgitate the exact same things.
27:22
He gave himself up.
27:23
He gave himself up.
27:25
It was pretty good.
27:28
So that's one of those fun things.
27:30
I mean, how is your blood pressure these days?
27:35
Is it better, Brian?
27:36
Is it more relaxing that you don't have people like me saying what, you know, Gensel said on a bench causing trouble or, you know, we're picking out the wrong guy in the wrong game.
27:50
No, he's not coming out.
27:51
No, no, no, no.
27:52
This other guy.
27:54
Have you brought your blood pressure down?
27:56
I feel like it's gone down considerably.
27:58
My stress level is just way down.
28:02
You know, I still, I think if you ask my wife, I'll still kind of like when I'm watching a game, I'll be pacing around and just like, you know, worried.
28:13
And, you know, you guys know, like when we, it's not that wins and losses were my life, like life was just easier when we would win a game.
28:22
So I always wanted to win.
28:24
You're not wrong.
28:26
You're not wrong.
28:28
Yeah.
28:28
And even, even that game that I helped out stats a couple, you know, whatever, two months ago now, it's like, oh, it's kind of nice that the game's over and I'm just kind of free to go home.
28:37
Don't have to worry about any of this.
28:41
But the stats broke down that night though, didn't it?
28:44
I think that's what Rob was saying.
28:45
You ever have all kinds of issues?
28:47
Yeah, they had a couple.
28:48
And then as I recall, we had a bug that kind of we hadn't seen before.
28:56
And you know, the new stat system is not new anymore, but it's still only like three years old.
29:00
And I would imagine, obviously, I'm not seeing it every game, but I have noticed that a lot of teams are having problems with it.
29:08
And when I say problems, I mean like getting live stats out.
29:12
And that was always something that was weird too, of like, you know, we're doing 20 games a year at home.
29:17
I'm not changing anything in the stats.
29:19
Why?
29:19
How come something's going wrong tonight?
29:21
I don't understand this.
29:24
It has been a little buggy this year, or the last couple years, but that's good.
29:28
It's not your job anymore.
29:29
It's like you said, you were just filling in, actually keeping track of the stats that night because they were short of people.
29:35
But you don't have people like me saying, why isn't the stats up?
29:38
I'm at home.
29:39
Why isn't this up?
29:40
Yeah, we had a fun one this weekend where Aaron Hugelin got credited for an assist.
29:44
And we're like, he wasn't even on the ice.
29:46
And Jess is going, was there a line change?
29:49
Is Hugelin now playing in more spot?
29:51
What the hell is going on out there?
29:52
It was red pillock on the assist.
29:55
But you know what though?
29:59
I worked Division I hockey for 11 years.
30:02
I saw the guys inputting stats.
30:04
I would go in and have to edit some things after games sometimes.
30:09
Things get changed.
30:11
Score and summaries get changed or whatever.
30:14
When you sit there and you watch it happen, it is just so...
30:18
You don't watch the game.
30:19
You're literally watching the stats you need to track.
30:24
For anyone who has complaints, you can have realistic complaints about it.
30:28
It would be nice if the stats were right all the time.
30:31
And if they were working all the time.
30:36
But a lot goes into making that whole stat system work.
30:39
And from the people who are actually running the program to the guys upstairs inputting stats, it's not an easy job.
30:48
I got dragooned into doing it again on Friday this weekend.
30:51
And I'm just not looking forward to it at all.
30:53
Oh, nice.
30:56
Maybe we can get some good shots.
30:58
Because I was looking at who's leading the nation in shots.
31:01
And I bet you nothing that you can guess what team he plays for.
31:08
No comment.
31:10
Penn State.
31:13
Well, one thing that I always liked about the stats crew here is that a lot of times you're just not going to see something live.
31:19
And you might not even see it on the first or second replay.
31:22
But at those times, you might have a player come up to you and say, yeah, actually that went off my stick or something.
31:28
And you would go back to the stats team.
31:30
And we would come up after media and they'd be reviewing something just to see, going back over almost frame by frame, checking to see, oh, yep, yep, there it is.
31:41
And they would update the stats.
31:43
And I know it's easy to complain about the stats in terms of, you know, oh, hey, I should have had more shots on goal.
31:50
I should have had more saves.
31:51
I should have had one more face-offs.
31:52
But just credit to that group of guys that have been doing it since before I came here, before I was even here as a student at The Daily, the investment that they put in to give up their Friday night, their Saturday night, and to stay until 1130 sometimes, you know, I have nothing but love for all those guys.
32:15
And everyone who has helped out, you know, we've had a big, big crew over the years.
32:20
And it's fun to be a part of that group.
32:24
But it's also a lot of work.
32:26
And I, you know, like I said, the first time I really experienced that was like, I thought I was going to come in and be glad-handed.
32:32
Hey, everybody, it's so great to be back.
32:34
And like, I just sat at the computer the entire game and I was like almost overwhelmed.
32:41
Quick question for you.
32:44
Did you ever have tops keep track of some extra Penn State stats while you guys were on the road?
32:51
Tell you if it was a really a shot or not?
32:55
It's going to sound like I'm complaining.
32:57
But like those guys are so dedicated that when we would go on the road, they would still like help stat the game to the point that they would like, you know, I'm sitting there if I'm watching the game, like I don't have a monitor in front of me.
33:14
I'm seeing it live and I'm seeing it on a video board, if anything.
33:17
But like those guys would be texting me of like, hey, just so you know, that might have tipped off of this guy or that goal should have gone to this person, yada yada.
33:27
And yes, while that was very appreciative in certain cases, there were also some times where it was like, guys, I know where we are.
33:34
I sort of have to pick my battles.
33:39
There's going to be 50 shots no matter what.
33:42
And the other thing, too, for that, like when you're on the road, the home team is the official stats book.
33:47
So like, what are we going to do?
33:50
Like go through and be like, hey, you need to take that shot off because it wasn't a shot.
33:53
Are we going to do that 15 times a game?
33:54
No, we're not.
33:57
Even though they needed too many.
33:58
I would say they've gotten a little better at Penn State.
34:01
I have noticed it's been a little better the last couple of years.
34:07
I always think a good brammer for Penn State is look at the stats for their home games and their road games.
34:12
And it's probably somewhere in the middle.
34:17
Unfortunately, they don't play many non-conference games on the road.
34:20
Now, I would also say to be the devil's advocate, I would say a lot of teams come in to Mariucci and say that we are way too strict on goal summaries.
34:31
And that, you know, what's, you know, a possession is an arbitrary decision sometimes.
34:40
And I think our, you know, and fans might not like this, but I think our, our stack crew is actually probably very conservative in what, how they call it.
34:52
Yeah.
34:53
They used to do the final five every year.
34:56
Now, they're very good.
34:57
For the last seven or eight years of the final five, they definitely did it.
35:02
They've done a couple frozen fours as well when they were at the X.
35:05
Hopefully, they'll get to do it this time.
35:06
I don't know.
35:08
You know, the one I always like to call out is when we had the outdoor game at it was TCF Bank Stadium.
35:13
But, you know, trying to figure out how we were going to stat a game from...
35:17
Was it Brownie down by the ice?
35:19
So we had someone down.
35:21
It was Brownie.
35:21
We had him down at ice level, basically, like, relaying the play-by-play to us, I think.
35:29
And that's a weird one.
35:30
Like, I know that happened, but I was running around all over the place that night.
35:33
So, like, I never even talked to the stats guys.
35:36
That was a cold one.
35:38
And they pulled double duty because they did the women's game, too.
35:48
The Wild Crew is the antithesis of the PCP.
35:56
What can you do?
35:56
What can you do?
35:59
Well, let's get into Robert Morris here in a bit.
36:02
But first, we need to hear from more of our sponsors.
36:11
Jake Middleton here, Director of Hair and Hygiene for the Minnesota Wild.
36:15
How did I get this important role with the team, you ask?
36:17
I'd like to think it was because of hard work, but the truth is, I run hot.
36:21
Yep, I'm a sweater.
36:25
In my role as Director of Hair and Hygiene, I'm sort of like a player coach.
36:29
Let me pull out the grease board here.
36:31
Well, it's not actually a grease board, because there is nothing dirty about Dew Cannon.
36:37
How do I help the guys stay squeaky clean?
36:39
Helpful reminders.
36:41
It's simple.
36:42
Tarp saw, Dew Cannon up.
36:44
Say it with me.
36:45
Tarp saw, Dew Cannon up.
36:47
Tarp saw, Dew Cannon up.
36:50
Pick the scent that suits you.
36:53
Sawtooth.
36:55
Thick body wash.
36:57
Extra thick.
37:00
And my favorite, midnight swim.
37:03
Tarp saw, Dew Cannon up.
37:05
Dew Cannon.
37:06
Work harder, smell better.
37:10
Are you tired of the same old fundraisers?
37:13
Paying $15 for a stale bag of popcorn, chocolate candy bars melting in your car, and more frozen pizzas than you have freezer space.
37:23
Introducing FURTA Fundraisers, a fundraising company with as much personality as the people who play the game.
37:32
Throw gas.
37:35
Choose from great products made by local companies, flexible plans built around your needs.
37:41

37:49
It's never been easier to support your community.
37:52

37:55

38:02
And of course, we thank FURTA Fundraisers and Duke Cannon for sponsoring the GPL Podcast.
38:09
Must win this weekend, Veegs.
38:12
By the way, if you were at Times One, you got some of this.
38:15
So we'll have more stuff to give away later on this year.
38:19
TBD.
38:20
But we've got stuff to give away later too.
38:22
Oh, thanks for bringing that up.
38:24
Thanks, Duke, and thanks, FURTA.
38:26
I was just going to say this is a must win weekend, Veegs.
38:32
No ties, no nothing else.
38:35
Nothing against Deutsch's former team, but they're not that good, and they're just back from the dead, essentially.
38:44
Well, they are back from the dead.
38:46
So this whole roster is a work in progress, and they have struggled this year.
38:51
I was looking at their wins.
38:54
It's not great.
38:55
Stonehill, Niagara, Simon Fraser, Bentley, they beat Bowling Green the first weekend of the year when Bowling Green was going through their chaos of their player who was stealing stuff from their equipment room and all that.
39:08
So not a lot of good stuff happened on there.
39:11
They're getting outshot like 40 to 25 pretty much every night.
39:16
You can't lose to this team.
39:17
And I know how hard it is to restart a program, but there are 60 seconds in the pair wise.
39:23
Important weekend for Minnesota to play solid.
39:27
You know, when Eric Scherhorn was talking about a get right game, get right weekend, this is one of them.
39:33
And I see your face, Deutsch, and I have a feeling you're reading this comment here.
39:38
Tommy wants to remind you the swear jar is active this weekend.
39:43
Puckhound is probably, it could be, it could be Toms.
39:47
You never know.
39:48
I feel like I have immunity from all swear jars at the University of Minnesota.
39:55
I think the boys tried to find me a couple times and I was like, good luck.
39:59
You ain't going to find my wallet.
40:03
Sorry, I just happened to see that pop up there.
40:07
Josh Svensson, is this the first time we played Robert Morris in the regional?
40:12
Did they play him at a regional?
40:13
Yeah, 2014.
40:15
At Excel, right?
40:17
And the first one was at the AutoBed.
40:22
They were hot that year, too.
40:24
That was my second year with the team and I remember just thinking, oh, an Atlantic coffee team.
40:31
Nothing to be worried about there.
40:36
Tell that to St.
40:37
Cloud State and AIC.
40:40
Hey, we don't throw stones in our glass house.
40:46
It would be devastating these.
40:47
They lose the game this weekend.
40:49
They're going to drop like a rock and it would be all bad.
40:54
Yeah, it would be bad.
40:55
Brian, do you know much about what's going on at Robert Morris?
40:58
I mean, Derek Schooley is back as the coach for Gopher fans who maybe don't know.
41:03
He's a long time guy there, kept everything going.
41:06
He was on the USCHO podcast while he was away.
41:09
He stuck with the podcast even when he got back behind the bench, which is kind of fun to hear his perspectives.
41:15
But they had to just start from scratch basically again.
41:18
One, I mean, the crazy thing is, their program didn't exist for two years.
41:25
I don't remember the exact timeline of from when they cut the programs to when they announced they were bringing them back.
41:32
But there was a time where Schooley and Logan Biddle were running co-ed practices with 10 total players on the ice based off what their roster size was at the time.
41:43
And so to see those guys stick around, I still talk to Coach Schooley a little bit every now and then, but we're not that close.
41:53
But I would assume there were options when that program was originally cut for him to find somewhere else to go.
41:59
And the fact that he didn't take off and that Logan Biddle on the women's side didn't take off, and they stayed the course, and it's really kind of commendable how they brought both those programs back from the dead.
42:10
And I know they had a ton of help.
42:12
You know, they had that Colonial Hockey Foundation, and they had a big fundraising charity game, and they went so deep in trying to fundraise to bring those programs back and develop kind of a community mentality behind those programs.
42:30
It's just cool to see them back.
42:32
And, you know, I would almost say not following that team that closely, but they probably have never had more confidence this season than they did after absolutely crushing Stonehill last weekend.
42:44
And they're more rested than the Gophers.
42:46
That will be true.
42:48
Dumb question number one.
42:49
It's been a long time since I've been in school and how things work.
42:53
At some of those smaller schools, do some of those coaches still teach classes?
43:05
That face was me thinking, not me judging that question.
43:09
I think more at the D3 level.
43:11
I'm also sure it was a small school thing or a big school thing.
43:14
I think it's more of a D3 thing.
43:21
I remember the golf coach at Robert Morris also did some administrative stuff.
43:27
The AD at the time was actually the softball coach too.
43:30
That can go across the board from NCAA programs.
43:35
There's also times where coaches want to coach.
43:38
I can't remember who.
43:40
I know it's popular in football where you have a leadership class taught by the football coach.
43:48
I know Glenn Mason.
43:49
I taught tennis or coached tennis when he was at Kent State.
43:54
It can happen at the group of five schools as well.
43:59
I just remember because I actually had Don Bros at Mankato when I was there as a badminton coach.
44:07
Badminton class.
44:11
That was right as they were about to turn D1.
44:14
They were still technically D3 at the time.
44:17
Like I said, it was probably a D3 thing.
44:20
He was such an old school guy.
44:21
He may have kept teaching some of those old gym classes even when he became a D1 coach.
44:25
Who knows?
44:27
I remember at St.
44:28
Olaf, we had coaches doing kinesiology and athletic training.
44:32
There was a coaching thing you could take where Sean Goldsworthy, who was the hockey coach, taught Dan Kosmoski, who was the basketball coach, Matt McDonald was the baseball coach, Paul Miller was the football coach.
44:45
They would all teach a week or two.
44:48
And it was just kind of fun to hear their experiences.
44:53
Okay, do we see Ari this weekend?
44:59
I think there's a potential where we see him if the game is well in hand.
45:05
Like if we've got like a 6-1 game going into the third period, I would think there's a chance.
45:12
But Bob is bristled at every question about Ari getting time in the net.
45:18
We have a radio personality, Wally Shaver, who likes to bring it up very frequently about Nathan and Ari's health.
45:24
And if there's a plan for a rotation and you just see Bob go, nope, no plans.
45:28
We'll figure it out.
45:29
Don't worry about it.
45:30
We like Justin.
45:31
What was his injury status?
45:33
Like I don't know if I need specifics or anything, but like has he has he been 100% for two months and he just hasn't had ice time?
45:43
No, he wasn't cleared to play at a lower body injury that they kind of discovered just before camp.
45:51
And he was held pretty much off the ice until December.
45:54
And he would come on the ice every once in a while just in his pads to kind of get the feel of wearing all the goalie pads and being on the ice.
46:01
But he wasn't doing drills or instruction or anything like that.
46:05
It's just recently that he's been cleared to play.
46:07
And as we saw in the development game, he looked pretty good.
46:12
He was technically very sound, handled his rebounds, was a steady goal-tender.
46:19
So I think he's probably close to being ready to play at this point after going through a lot of conditioning the last five, six weeks.
46:26
And kind of the reason I asked, though, Veegs, is that you think of two years ago LaFontaine played every game.
46:35
Closer didn't see anything until all of a sudden Laffer's gone.
46:40
And he was throwing in the fire with nothing really out there.
46:43
I think he might have came in for a short time.
46:45
He had like seven seconds in Wisconsin.
46:47
Yeah, it's so ridiculous like that.
46:50
But I think the fans are like, yeah, sure, it's going to be Robert Morris.
46:55
Maybe they would like to see him play an actual game that means something.
47:00
But then it's like, you know, Bob even said, you know, maybe he should have played close a little bit to get him, you know, get him some legs in case something happened.
47:10
And then something happened.
47:12
Also, he was just throwing in there.
47:13
So that's just kind of thinking I'm kind of going with here.
47:17
I think if Minnesota was like fourth in the pairwise, he'd get a game.
47:22
But I think where things are at, where they're kind of on the bubble, you don't want to mess around it and have something happen where then maybe Ari doesn't have a good game and you got to bring in close anyway.
47:33
And then your goalie's confidence is now kind of shot going forward.
47:37
Now, I don't think that that would happen.
47:40
But typically when Minnesota is going to play a team like Robert Morris, there's only going to be 15, 20 shots and probably four or five of those will be odd man rushes.
47:50
That's a tough situation for a goalie anyway.
47:53
And so it just doesn't make a lot of sense to me to force something where you don't have to.
48:00
And, you know, if Closer gets hurt and then Aerie knows he's the guy, that's a totally different situation for Aerie to deal with as well, because he knows that there isn't probably going to be a short hook on him.
48:10
So he can play relaxed and confident.
48:14
So complicated situation.
48:17
Can the stats nerd in me ask a question?
48:20
Go for it.
48:21
How far away is Closer from the shutout record?
48:26
I would have known this a couple of weeks ago, but I think it's like two or three.
48:29
I think he's getting really close.
48:34
That's a good point.
48:35
He hasn't given up on anything.
48:36
They're going to let him keep playing.
48:38
I have the convenience of not having to care about any other factors other than what's good publicity.
48:46
Something to think about.
48:46
I saw Ryan K's question on the officiating's past weekend bomb scene.
48:51
Getting really frustrated with the younger of the two officials Monday night.
48:55
Is he new to the conference?
48:57
That was Ryan K.
48:59
I did notice the younger referee in this series was someone I didn't recognize.
49:04
I'm assuming he's new.
49:05
The other one had been there forever.
49:11
I don't really know.
49:11
I'm not 100% sure either.
49:18
We didn't really get a lot of Matzko on Sunday night in the postgame.
49:25
On Monday night, we had plenty to talk about other than officiating.
49:28
Maybe it's something we'll bring up tomorrow at availability.
49:31
Just to clarify what was going on there.
49:34
He did seem pretty vocal at times with the officials.
49:40
I'm just trying to look at the stats myself.
49:42
See if I can see.
49:43
Of course, the sheet doesn't tell me.
49:47
All right, that's going to be an overtime topic.
49:52
It's going to have to be because I can't find it either real quick.
49:55
Oh, well, what do you do?
49:58
My days of caring about the officiating are long over.
50:02
Come on.
50:04
Come on.
50:06
Give us something here.
50:09
I'm predicting sweep.
50:11
I think Deutsch, you might have something there.
50:15
I think closer probably plays as long as he doesn't give up a goal.
50:20
Multiple times tonight, it's bothered me that I have a hard time talking about the strategy of hockey and then Vegoe says something and it's like, oh, that makes perfect sense and I can absolutely see if the shutouts out of the question and the Gophers were leading big, maybe you make a change there.
50:39
See, I think if there's a shutout in play, you're going to let your goalie stay in.
50:44
So that's why I'm like, if it's 6-1, you might make the change to start the third period, but don't mess around with your goalie right now.
50:55
There's floors pretty even-headed, bud.
50:57
Floor piping in, of course.
51:02
Which ones do you recognize?
51:04
I don't know which ones are the younger ones.
51:06
Brian Aaron is a pretty regular guy.
51:08
Oh, there you go.
51:09
The name was Kevin Corbett was the newer.
51:11
Okay, Craig, help us out.
51:12
How new is he?
51:14
You're watching.
51:15
We know you're in your garage right now.
51:19
Tell us.
51:24
By the way, one of the referees, John, I can't remember his last name.
51:31
He's close to my age, actually.
51:32
His last series is going to be the Penn State Series at Mariucci.
51:37
He's hanging him up.
51:39
And Laura has no clue.
51:41
A lot of help you are.
51:43
Geez.
51:44
That is a lot of stuff though.
51:46
You know what?
51:47
Let's talk about referees for a little bit because the one thing people might recognize from Robert Morris alums is they actually have two NHL referees and Furman South.
51:57
And I don't know if Brandon Blandina still is a referee, but at one time he was.
52:01
And so it is kind of always cool to see those guys.
52:04
They were there when I was there.
52:05
And to see them officiating NHL games is always cool.
52:09
Nice.
52:11
And floor remind me it was Jonathan Morrison who's retiring.
52:15
Yeah, they've been.
52:16
A lot of the there's like a there's like three linesmen that get a lot of the games.
52:20
There's a couple of new ones now, too.
52:22
But they've been linesmen for 10, 15 years.
52:26
And WCHA now Big Ten.
52:29
They've been there a long time.
52:30
I've gone back and looked at old photos and 10 or more years ago.
52:34
And I see Sam, Nick and John, the three kind of regulars at Mariucci.
52:39
So good guys, good guys.
52:43
So Veegs, I'm predicting sweep.
52:45
I assume you're predicting sweep.
52:47
I hope so.
52:49
I am predicting a sweep.
52:51
This should be a no doubter for Minnesota against Robert Morris.
52:55
There's just so much firepower for the Gophers right now.
52:58
I really like the Pitlick more snuggerude line.
53:02
You know, one of the things Bob mentioned, he's like, they're doing great in transition.
53:07
They're starting low above pucks and they're getting the defensemen involved in transition.
53:12
You saw Sam Renzell join the rush with them in the third period against Colorado College on Monday.
53:18
That's their game.
53:19
What they need to do to take the next step is to have a little bit more of a ground game.
53:24
And we saw some of this from Oliver Moore this weekend.
53:29
I think his World Junior experience maybe shaped his game a little bit more where he's making possession plays.
53:35
Because when you come down the wing and you're on a one on one or a two on two and you fire a shot from outside the dot, above the goal line, that's either a puck going into the corner for a puck battle or it's a frozen puck by the goalie.
53:49
It's not a great goal scoring chance unless you're Jimmy Snuggeroo.
53:52
So the smarter play there is to take it deep and find an option.
53:57
Do an escape move.
53:58
Look for your teammates.
53:59
Get the ground game going.
54:01
And if that line can add that to their bag of tricks, look out everybody because that's a big step for them.
54:09
And they got to stop beating, trying to beat everybody on the rush.
54:12
Sometimes you got to go that next level.
54:15
Maybe the bigger question is the Snuggeroo take over the NCAA lead and goals this weekend.
54:21
He's not going to shy away from shooting pucks.
54:26
I expect him to get 10 a night.
54:29
What do they call it?
54:30
Point night?
54:30
Like, hey, just pad those stats, boys.
54:33
That's no joke.
54:37
All right, Deutcher, you did work for Robert Morris, but you're an M guy, so I'm assuming you're picking sweet.
54:45
You're not going to get a C Friday game since you're working it, though.
54:49
I was thinking about this, and I don't think I've ever expected the Gophers to lose any game, so why start now?
54:57
I love Robert Morris to death, but I'm going to go with a sweet, too.
55:03
It would be kind of cool.
55:04
I was reading something in one of the Pittsburgh newspapers this morning.
55:08
You know, they have a couple Minnesota guys, and a bunch of them have, you know, a huge crowd of fans coming to see them play, and they said, you know, the typical things that Minnesotans who come back to play against the Gophers...
55:19
You know, I grew up watching the Gophers, and they want to put on a good show in front of their fans and their family, and that's always kind of cool to see, especially now, kind of from an outside perspective.
55:29
Like, I definitely can understand that, and, you know, hopefully they have a good showing for themselves and for their program.
55:36
Yeah, like, I remember when Hunter Johannes came back and played a marriage and scored.
55:40
You could just tell, like, that made the weekend for him.
55:43
You know, not a great moment for Gopher fans seeing that, and he's doing well for himself now at North Dakota, but for him to have that moment is pretty cool.
55:51
I think you see that with guys who come back all the time.
55:54
If they have a good night, anything on the score sheet, it's memorable for them.
55:58
I do think the big thing to look for, though, is does Closer get the two shutouts, and Ty Briggs for the shutout record, because it is 13 and he is at 11.
56:07
That's a lot of pressure.
56:08
That's a lot of pressure.
56:09
He's so calm and collected, though.
56:12
He's so calm, though.
56:17
I asked him once, you know, what are you thinking at the third period when, you know, it's 3-0?
56:22
He's like, well, I'm not thinking about lending it a goal, that's for sure.
56:26
That's what you're getting at.
56:28
You dummy.
56:29
Please don't think like that.
56:31
I bet there are some out there who do.
56:33
They're just like, I got to get this shut out.
56:36
No goals.
56:37
He definitely doesn't.
56:38
No goals, just like that TV commercial.
56:40
No goals.
56:44
Well, Brian, thanks for coming on the show with us.
56:46
You know, we're low on guests, so we had to dig deep somewhere, didn't we?
56:50
Kind of what you're saying.
56:51
I was a little afraid that at the 11th hour, you guys are going to be like, oh, we actually got someone who knows how to talk about hockey.
56:58
This is the perfect fit, Brian.
57:00
It's Robert Morris of Minnesota.
57:01
This is a match I've made for you.
57:03
Yeah, this is going to be a really fun weekend.
57:06
I'm excited to see some of the staff members that I still know there.
57:09
I'm excited to see all the people of Minnesota again, too.
57:12
And honestly, we're looking, I think this is the first game I'm going to bring my son and my wife on Saturday, and we've never gone to a game together.
57:21
And I don't think I've gone to a game as a fan since my freshman year of college in 2006.
57:27
So I'm really excited, actually.
57:31
And I do need to give my wife a plug.
57:33
It's her birthday today, and she allowed me to do this.
57:36
But she's out with a well-earned celebration with some of her friends.
57:42
She's partying with the ladies, isn't she?
57:46
Impressive dad duty, then, to get the boy down for bedtime.
57:52
I'm blessed that he stayed asleep.
57:54
Winnie at life.
57:57
I got home at about 6 p.m.
57:59
and was like, OK, can we put him to bed now?
58:03
The answer was no.
58:06
What do you do?
58:09
But thank you for coming on.
58:10
Veegs, have you got anything going on in the Hopper?
58:13
Well, we just posted something on GPL as we kicked off the podcast on the weekend, and we'll have that finances article up soon.
58:21
I guess I didn't even know that.
58:22
I have to go check my own site.
58:23
I just slipped it in there before the show.
58:27
Got to keep it on your toes.
58:29
Yeah, you do.
58:30
But that's going to do it for this episode of The GPL Podcast.
58:34
Obviously, you thank Brian Deutsch for coming on the show with us this week.
58:37
We'll be back next Thursday night at 7:30 p.m.
58:44
earlier time because I will be traveling and I'll be in a couple of time zones away.
58:48
So we'll do that.
58:50
And we're going to have Cappy on as a guest.
58:54
Obviously, they're playing Ohio State next weekend.
58:57
So that will be good.
58:59
So for those of you watching live, we'll have a little bit of overtime here for the rest of you.
59:03
We'll catch you next week on The GPL Podcast.
