Gopher Topple Alberta 6-2

No real game recap tonight… Just the post game FB Live video.

Also Casey Mittelstadt had a nice dress rehearsal before the real season gets started Friday in Duluth for the Ice-Breaker. The freshman tallied a goal on his second shift of the game (below) and then had three helpers during the 6-2 win. Alberta isn’t a pushover squad either–the Golden Bears beat UMD 4-3 on Saturday night and have recently been the best team among the Canadian college scene. Most of their players start university at 21-years-old after playing a couple years of major junior hockey.

Brent Gates Jr. also showed up on Sunday with two goals and flashed some improved puck protection skills. Tom Novak had the final goal of the night, and while he’s still recovering from an ACL, his hands and vision are still there.

Scott Reedy and Leon Bristedt had the other Gopher goals and three goalies (Eric Schierhorn, Brock Kautz, and Mat Robson) saw time between the pipes.

Turns out this Mittelstadt guy is pretty good.
