[Sticky] New GPL Host

Why GPL was down.

Host had network issues... Nothing with GPL.

Looks like my host is moving this place to a new server later this week... They will be doing it sometime on the 21st. It will take an hour. They say not to make any changes. But if they start moving the site and it is still live for us, there is a good chance that any posts that happen during that time will disappear once the site is on the new server. Not really a big deal, but I just thought I'd give you a heads up. If they do it overnight, no big deal. During the day would be different. But it is out of my control.

Hopefully my tech likes it better because nothing I run the site on now seems to be working at all.  Pages take forever to load, often time out and even refreshing doesn't really do all that much.

I mean what the heck am I supposed to do...work? 🤣 

It has been slow for me today... I am guessing they may be having issues on whatever machine this site is on. Hence they are moving it.

Guessing we had the swap today.  Looks like some of the color customizations are missing (not as much gold, a lot more white), but other than that, things are good.  A little slow, but guessing that's just the typical slowness we see any time stiff gets moved around like this as everything settles in.

What colors are you talking about?

Hmmm... site was down for a while earlier, started with a DB error, then a gateway message.

As to colors, weren't things like "GPL Portal" in gold, rather than white? (Using dark mode)  Or is my brain melting down (entirely possible, been fighting a cold for a couple days)

The Dark Mode plugin was updated earlier today. It may be interpreting colors different since i usually let it do it's own thing. I rarely use dark mode.

The switch happened at 4:30am and was done in 15m. I doubt anyone was posting then, so nothing was lost in all likelihood.

Sweet!  Thanks for all you do here.

Seems quicker after the move. I am guessing that the previous environment was having issues. This place was really slow at times even when there was not many users on the site. Even static pages were terrible (they should not ever be), but dynamic pages like the forum was painful.

Nice to have a host get proactive and make changes when needed. In the past I would complain for months and nothing would really change. This time they told me the window that they would make the change and actually did it.

I did get some type of popup on my phone when I loaded the site the first time this morning. I think it was about the CDN, but it is nothing important.

How do I get my email notifications from Gopher puck live removed, when I try to click on unsubscribe I keep getting new email notifications from GPL?
