[Solved] Moving GPL to a new host...

The DNS change usually takes much longer, so who knows?

But there is no turning back now. I am going to HAPPILY go to my old host and cancel the account.

There goes "me being off the internet for a few days cleanse"... ?

Things are not really much faster yet... But it may take 2-3 days for the cache to catch up

It went pretty well. The only issue I had was that my Jupiter account wasn’t assigned a “roll” in WordPress. Neither did all the users here. Just the original WP logins for my Craig account along with Vegoe and Eckes. 

So I had to tweak some things. I am guessing I will need to tweak other things here and there. I see a few CSS issues here and there. But I want to allow the cache as well as the CDN caching a few days before making other changes. 

I needed to re-activate the licenses for a few WPForo plugins. Like Giphy, Private Messages and a few others. If that wasn't working for you, it work now.

Probably a caching issue. Clear all cache.

Well... Everything is much easier now. I am on more specific WordPress hosting. I don't have to worry about server issues and DNS issues. I don't have to restart things when they break. I had to do all of that before since we were on a VPS server. Which is very similar to running a dedicated server.

I can't quite tell if the site is faster or not. @greyeagle was telling me today that he thought it was faster. So maybe it is?

I'm a computer simpleton but it seems when I open threads I normally don't visit they open faster than I remember.  

I've noticed that I'm no longer having to login every time I visit.   That's a plus.

I've just noticed this though, when going to thread with new posts it takes me to the last page but not to the most recent post.

Yeah... Just updated the message board too. I talked about it in the WPForo thread.

I replied to someone on Twitter asking about our previous hosting company. Then went on to read what others were saying. It appears that "A Small Orange" is in some serious trouble with a TON of people being really pissed off.

SO GLAD I SWITCHED TO A NEW HOST!!!!

We have been on the new server for just over a month now... This place seems pretty fast compared to the previous server. Yeah, I have noticed once and a while it gets slow for a few minutes... But I will take a few minutes over unexplained outages.

Is anyone else have an issue with GPL responding slowly? Each time I click on something I get a black screen for 5-10 seconds.  Noticed it last night on my personal computer and even this morning on my work.  Is this an host issue or something else?!?!?!

Yes, haven’t had the black screen you describe, but the site has been considerably slower than usual for about four days now.

Yeah, I'm getting the same thing. Started yesterday afternoon.

I was just going to come ask the same question! My pages all take about 10-20 seconds to load too.  

Thanks everyone... I'm not tech savvy. I can barley operate all the features on my iPhone, let alone a computer. I let my wife deal with all of that... even my kids on the tv and four remote (Tv, Direct Tv, DVD and Roko)... lol!!!

No clue what is happening there. It appears your mobile browser is not reading the CSS instructions properly and you are getting the desktop view.

Sorry... Things were messed up for a bit while I was doing some testing.

Something is not right with the message board software. Yet there has not been an update since Dec. 28th. So it doesn't make sense.

Going to do some testing on a staging server and see if I can pin this down. I have a feeling that a recent plugin update that is NOT the message board is causing issues with the message board plugin. We'll have to see. Hopefully I can figure it out. But a conflicting plugin is my best guess.

Working with the host to figure this all out.

On my staging site that is identical to this site, pages are loading normally and fast. But on the live site it is painfully slow. I was going to use the staging site for testing to figure it all out. When that site ran without any issues, I have been on with the host since then trying to figure out the problem. Make no sense that the staging site is running so fast and the live one is not.

So it may not be an issue with the message board software. It is related to it, but something else is happening.

I am getting nowhere with my host... They claim there are zero speed issues.

Seeing how fast the staging portal page loads... This is just pissing me off.

Your host contacts are as slow as the live board if they don't think there's a loading issue. ? 

Loading the site has been slow for me today, also. Just some input, I know it's out of your hands. 

Was online with help from 4:30 yesterday until almost midnight... Now back this morning.

And starting all over again since I keep getting sent to a new person who is clueless. I am guessing this is a CDN issue even though I turned OFF the CDN last week. But my feeling is that it actually did not turn off.

So I go round and round and round.  

I have a feeling that there is some sort of regional issue happening...

I do testing on outside sources and it says the site is fine. But then it is not fine. My host cannot figure it out too. Very frustrating.
