GPL Podcast & Live Broadcasts

Ran a little longer than expected. But it was a good time.

Yeah... I really did not want it to go that long, but you sort of lose track of time when you have a good discussion going. I bet we could have gone on even longer.

I enjoyed listening to both of these Podcast.

On the GPL Podcast page, just right click the "LINK" and you should be able to download the file to listen later.

OR

If you use iTunes, you just need to go to the Store within iTunes and search for Gopher Puck Live. Then you can click subscribe so that any new episode will download automatically.

Another good podcast guys, adding Frank in for a guest was great! Maybe next week you could have DHG or RWD on to review the Duluth series. I like the guest idea, maybe not every podcast but definitely have it to break it up! Maybe sometime you could do a taping at Campus Pizza so you could have live interaction for one, just a thought. Keep it up!

I don't think DHG is technically savvy enough to pull it off....

Maybe I will just sand bag it on the Gopher predictions every week. Therefore if they have more success, everybody will focus on that... and if they fail, I can just say I was correct.

I think it is mandatory for me to go buy a microphone for future broadcasts. I think it will just sound better than just letting my lap top microphone do the work (I notice a bit of fading in and out... probably from my moving around a bit)

Is there any interest in listening to the podcast live while we record it?

There is a free audio streaming service called "mixlr", that allows up to 100 listeners at a time. I figure that people could listen live and go to the GPL chat to give feedback. While broadcasting we could monitor the live chat and maybe take your questions or talk about some topics you may want to hear about.

Now I am not sure if all of this is feasible on my home computer. I am thinking that I would need to purchase WireTap Anywhere in order to pull this off. This would allow me to combined the Skype audio as well as my own audio in to one source so I can send the feed out. But I could also use this software to have the ability to play audio during the podcast so that Hammy & Cardinal can also hear it. (Now taking donations to help pay for it).... But I think there is a good chance we could pull off a live broadcast.

Can I get some of the your thoughts on this?
Would you tune in at 9:30pm on Tuesday nights to listen and participate?

Great job on the podcasts guys. You're all starting to get a little more comfortable and it shows.

One tiny thing. Does anyone hear the squeaking noise that shows up when Cardinal starts talking? It goes off and on, but with my headphones on it really gets to me. Keep up the entertaining work.

I think it has something to do with the built in microphone that is on his laptop. If you can convince him to get a headset, that would be great. :biggrin2:

First off, thanks for reading my question during this week's cast. :good2: As for the live broadcast = Love the idea. Start with the live broadcasts, then work your way up to the remote broadcasts at Campus Pizza! To answer your question, I don't know if I could listen live every week due to kids' stuff going on, but if it's a quiet night I would certainly ask to be one of the 100 people that could listen in. I also have a Skype account, so if Hammy & Ryan are ever not available and you want an Average Joe's opinion on the team (via DirecTv at 440 miles away) I'm your guy! I would even promise to not compare anyone on this year's team to Chris Harrington...even if they did deserve it *cough* thompson *cough*!

Actually I just found out that the free version of the software does not limit the amount of people listening. It just limits the downloads of previous recordings. Since I will not be using that feature, we should be good to go.

I may actually test out the live broadcast this weekend for AA games. I may just have a few of you with Skype join in for a live discussion during the games.

Just did a test live broadcast with the mixlr software and it seemed to work fine. There was only about a 20 second delay, but that is fine with me. I will still need to purchase the audio mixing software in order to send out more than just my audio feed though. I also need to see if I can prevent mixlr from tweeting automatically when I was just running a test.

Okay.... Looking for a few people to be part of a live discussion this weekend during the games. It will be a good test of the live broadcast.

Well.... A few glitches because of my settings, but I got everything working in the end. I wish people would have told me earlier that they could only hear me.

Thanks to DX, Armadillo, bhalverson (From USCHO), CPHockeyman, Hammy, Melmac (driving in her car somewhere in Wisconsin) and Jeff Oftos (from the International Space Station) for joining me tonight. It was an interesting experiment. I think we'll do it again for game 2 against AA.

I had a BRILLIANT time. I loved the post game where we really got into a good discussion about the team.

That was a damn good time. If you were to make it a regular road game feature, I'd be down.

Beyond ripping on people while doing the broadcast.... I think the highlight for me was "Melmac" joining us on the broadcast from her car while driving in rural Wisconsin. I think she was on I94 near Black River Falls, WI. Technology is cool.

The best part of last night was jup squaking along and no one hearing anything but him in the beginning.

We will start recording this weeks podcast around 9:30 pm tonight. We are doing something a little different this week, besides record it, we will also be broadcasting it live as well. Just head over to the Podcast page via the Home menu up top and you will see a live broadcast at the bottom of that page.

If you listen feel free to send questions to Twitter and we'll try to read them. You can also go in to the GPL Chat and ask questions as well.

So during the Anchorage series a few weeks ago we broadcasted live during the games. From the feedback I received, people seemed entertained by the broadcast. So I would love to do it more. Now doing for the Anchorage series is one thing, but doing it for other road games is another... The thing is that I would like to actually watch the road games on TV, not be worried about a live broadcast. The AA series is worked just because it was on the radio only.

So I was thinking that we could maybe do a post game broadcast during the road TV games if people are interested in listening in. It could maybe be a "whine line" of sorts. I don't know. We could possibly have GPL'ers call in via Skype and give their feedback on the game. Or it could be a group of use talking like we did a few weeks ago.

What are your thoughts GPL'ers? We have the capability to broadcast live. What should we do with that capability beyond the live podcasts on Tuesday nights? Let me know what you think.

You guys could do post game analysis in lieu of the non-existent BTN post-game show. And take questions via chat and twitter.
